Great video's mate. I've just started getting into fishing around the north east area and would love some video's of the rigs you are using and baits as you mentioned in this video. Cheers.
Thank you for watching Jonathan. Of course I can do that. 😁. Welcome to the wonderful North East 👍
Nice video mate .. that was big smelt ! I live it at blaydon and fish the mark you were at .. I’m normally up Northumberland trying for cod but it’s s nice easy fishing spot .. just subscribed so I’ll look forward to your next vids .. tight lines kidda
Cheers Mark. Aye it's a comfy easy mark. Thank you for the sub. Tight lines mate 👍
diff good idea about doing beginners video ,very informative
Then it shalt be done Simon! Thank you for watching. Take care 👍
Apart from juveniles the flounder migrate into open sea to spawn over winter months. Tyne fishes best from March onwards when they return back into the river. You'll have more luck on the beaches mate.
Cheers buddy, it's always worth a bash and it's an easy local Mark. . Happy with Smelt though 👍😊
Another great video,love it 👏
Thank you Chris ❤️
Thank you Chris ❤️
Nice video .good watch 👍 tightlines m8
Thanks buddy 👍
I got a smelt off the little jetty a few years ago where the jet skis are just along from where you are.
The spring time better for flounder and eels 😊
Nice one, cheers buddy and thanks for watching, 👍
Nice one mate.
Thanks for watching 👍
Great vid .I fish the tyne quite a lot mostly around ouseburn mouth spillars St Peter's basin and me and my sons have been catching whiting just sized and small codling I've never fished that far up river before so it's good to see I hope this helps not really into secret places b.s good luck
Thank for taking the time to watch Richard. Yes, st Peter's has fished well as always this year I did have a flounder and a nice Codling there a few weeks back. Nice comfortable fishing. All the best to you and your sons and Tight Lines 👍
Iv been catching them out of the Usk, south Wales. Most other anglers are struggling to catch them, because the flounder shy away from baits like worm. We catch them on anchovy, no flap on the end either. Tried cocktails, and the ONLY bait getting hit and destroyed is the anchovy. I use mackerel and anchovy cocktails, and the mackerel NEVER gets touched, it's always the anchovy. And I use 2/0 sakuma chinu hooks as the end hook on uno rigs.
It is very interesting bud. Locality can play a part but anchovy is a great oily bait. I have had a lot on Bluey. Probably more than mackerel. I suppose they will take what they want, not what we want them to take. Tight lines and thank you for watching my humble vids 👍
I've caught many codling in the tyne over 2kg as far up as byker almost so the tyne is definitely not full tiddlers all the time that a sment that was the mystery fish lol
In the 90's we were regularly catching fish up to and over 5 pounds. It varies from year to year. I have spoken to anglers from the 50's and 60's in the past and they reported cod in excess of 15lbs caught at the shipyards.. Amazing.
Nice one mate i used to fish only the tyne but gave up as cba with wasting time & money on tiny fish. Will be back fishing this year after 20 years out lol planning on hitting the beaches & lures mainly but love flattie bashing on a beach.
Great to hear your getting back out 😊. Don't dismiss the rivers too easily, I have had some great fish from the estuary up to 5lb. Thank you for watching 👍
I think there would be people appreciate a starter video ,we all started knowing nowt ,! 😂 crack on i say ,,,
Exactly Steven. 40 years angling and I still know nowt! 🤣. Cheers buddy, thanks for taking the time to watch.
Nice video if your looking to catch flounders try smiths dock or.hebburn marina with fresh rag and mussels I know.some lads.have been getting the.odd.ones up that way
Thanks for that Paul. The Scotswood area used to be full of flounder. In my match fishing days I used to fish opposite the mouth of the Derwent, however things change. Thanks for watching 👍
Forgot to mention mate sorry .. blaydon fishes pretty well all year round , I’ve had them upto 1lb 6 oz from the spot you fished opposite vickers.. I’ve found mackerel strips the best bait for that mark ..fished the flood on blyth beach beside mermaid cafe last month for bass ( which I never caught ) 😂 but however did land a decent flounder which I’m guessing was around 1.5 lb .. frustrating as a lad 50 yards to me left had two lovely bass but that’s the way it goes eh ! If I see you out when I’m fishing I’ll pop over for a bit craic mate .. hope this info helps you a little 👍🏻
Hi Mark, thanks for that. To be honest every time I have fished for Flounder on Blyth beach I have had bass too! 🤣. Definately if you see me about come over and have a natter... I get lonely sometimes 🤣. Many thanks.
yes as a couple have suggested it was a Smelt.
Lovely surprise and a beautiful fish. Thank you for watching.
Thats a big smelt. Im not sure of the British record but id definitely check it
Hi, firstly, thanks for watching. I know they rarely exceed 30cm. Beautiful fish. Thankfully went back safely 👍
Budle bay if you want monster Flounder either side of the old jetty 20yd Chuck worm baits
Ah, i love budle, yep know where you mean. Might have a trip up before the summer. Thanks for watching. 👍
@@northeastangling 2-75 lb caught last year on the flkood
@@derekdowney5157 that's a respectable flounder Derek ❤️👍
Hello what are you going to do for the mackerel this year as the end of shields pier is closed
Hi John. Yes, unfortunately. You will still get them at the gate although it will be ridiculous!. Probably go up the coast off a rock mark. You can get them from Frenchmans Bay etc at shields. 👍
Just have to get to the first gate early to beat them all and get the peg 18 spot and show you how it's done again lol
I am sure you will John 🤣. It will be interesting. To say the least!
You will have to get your lass to fish for the mackerel and see if she can catch more than us both mate lol
@@johnsimpson3179 She would! 😂. Take care bud.
