Congratulations from Canada on a fight well fought - that was a slugfest, and it could easily have hung you up on the snags in that run. Amazing Pike . You definitely need a bigger net though . I don't know where you live , but check out the folding nets from Savage Gear or Fox , or if in the UK check out Glasgow Angling centres Stillwater range of folding nets . They have one which is big enough to hold big fish , but has rubber mesh so better for the fish and stops hook snags . It is light enough and compact enough to be worn over your back also . Well done on a beautiful big Mama . I like the Hardy Demon rod as well . I have the #7 for my Stillwater trout angling . They are fantastic rods and effortless to cast .
Hey mate, many thanks for the suggestions. The net in the video is a McLean net, and it also has a rubber net. As you said, rubber nets have a lot of advantages. So far this net had always been big enough, but this pike was bigger than anything i had expect that day. Will buy a bigger one for sure!
@@troutfishinggermany9186 it was a monster Pike mate . You did extremely well landing it in the first place . A long landing net would have been handy , but they are sometimes not practical when you are traveling light and mobile .
Great video! If I can suggest something, it seems to me that you're worrying more than necessary about mending your line while fishing streamers. A dead drift isn't so important for most streamer fishing since you're simulating the movement of a forage fish that has the ability to resist the current. In fact, I find that a nice belly in the line accurately simulates the movement of a forage fish in the current - that is, able to move across the current close to the banks where the laminar flow reduces the pressure from the current, while getting swept away towards the center of the stream, where the current is strongest. This kind of swing is very popular in spey fishing, for example, and is especially effective on larger rivers.
Massangler1856 many thanks for you detailed answer and the advice! In this case though, mending was the only way to give the streamer a bit of time to sink down. Without mending, the current would have pulled it to the surface. Maybe a sinktip or a heavier streamer would have made things easier...

Bro, Hollywood movies can’t produce a better action scene! Cheers from Buffalo New York 🍻
Brandon Inlow glad you like it, and as with Hollywood movies I do like a happy ending 😁
That's pig... congratulations....amazing fish.... and dream stream you have there
Incredible video!! Amazingly fat pike..
@@troutfishinggermany9186 Ah! Good point. I see in that case.
Magnifique brochet dont jamais je n'aurais pu imaginer qu'on puisse le trouver ici... et le pêcher à la mouche !
Amazing fish and amazing fight!!!! My congratulations!!!!!! 🔝
Lorenzo Bussolari many thanks!
My mother was about to go to work when you started to sigh, she was like 'wait I haven't left yet'
Dominik Klaić 😂 sorry for getting you in trouble!
Hey Guy !! How are you ? I am watching your fishing from Singapor , I really enjoy it so much. I like fishing too. Do you fish in lake all time or in Ocean too ?
Thank you! I fish in the ocean aswell. A video about fishing the Indian Ocean in Oman is on my channel, and a video about the Red Sea will be coming soon! What do you catch over in Singapore?
Monster fish and a great video, it was like a Bruce Willis movie at times, especially when you fell or jumped into the river!! - Fly fishing for pike?? I´d never heard of it before but I´m sure going to try it now bro.
Its getting bigger in Sweden atm, I actually put my spinningrods on the side, dont know for how long, but I wouldnt bring my spinning gear with me when im going for pike.
Wow what an amazing catch and great job filming it as you did it! Greetings from the great lakes state of Michigan in the United States where fishing is a way of life
Gary Hudgins thanks mate, lots of water in your area, must be paradise!
Really nice size pike, how big do they get over there? Or is that the upper end of the size scale?
Thank you. Excellent videos! Super content.
