That drummer is the one and only Anton Fig. The Hammond B2 organ is being hammered on by "Double Trouble" alum and living legend Reese Wynans. The bassist is the late great Michael Rhodes, "the most recorded bassist in Nashville history". The back- up vocalists Mahalia Barnes, (daughter of Jimmy Barnes), Jade MacRae and Juanita Tippins are each amazing in their own right. Joe's recording with Mahalia of "Riding with the Kings" is absolute fire! Everyone who is on a stage with Joe is at the top of the game. Without exception.

You have just scratched the surface!! He opened for BB King 6 times when he was only 13 YEARS FREAKING OLD. Mom and Dad would only allow it on Friday and Saturday because of school!!!!!! Ambassador Jenks

Joes rig for the classic blues shows it 4 fender high voltage twin tweeds.. I think he only uses 3.. 1 for backup.. Depending. Sometimes he uses a Leslie pedal simulator. Sometimes he uses a tiny bit of chorus. He does not use distortion or overdrive. Hence the 4 twin tweeds at high volume. 😊

That concert was so good, I was blown away the first time I watched the full concert. If I would have known it was going to be that good I would have gone. I’ve seen him several times at red rocks. He’s just AWESOME.

The drummer is Anton Fig. He played with the David Letterman band with Paul Shafer for 20 years plus.

Joe says 10-15 percent gift the rest practice. This performance was 2015, he was 38 and had been playing for 34yrs. Check out his new stuff (he has 28#1 blues albums and like 54 albums in total) at Hollywood Bowl with full orchestra.

If you like this, you will love "Hummingbird" live at the Greek Theatre
It really features the backup singers.
Been referred to as his "Hey Jude" moment!

He currently has 16 studio albums to his credit and 28 #1 Billboard Blues albums. I would recommend going to see him b4 he gets old...... an ICONIC GIANT amongst the giants who is currently touring. Saw him in Virginia Beach a few years back and it was memorable, he will not disappoint! JB will be eligible for the Rock-N-Roll HOF in 2025 and I would be very surprised if he is not an early inductee. Just a few must-listen suggestions: Trouble Town/ Blue & Evil/ Midnight Blues/ U Upset Me/ U Left Me With Nothing But The Blues/ Breaking Up Somebody’s Home/ Angel of Mercy/ Redemption/ and Just Got Paid.Very much enjoyed your reaction, TY.

Stank face!! Oh my gosh, he is so talented!!!! The whole arrangement is amazing. I think talent vs work is where you find the heart in the talent. People who learn because it’s there don’t show it in their eyes and expressions. If you’re just shredding on the lead guitar because you know the notes, where’s the feeling behind it? That’s my take on your question. This got me moving enough to get my tasks done in the house while it’s thundering outside. Jeremy, you’re going to hurt your neck someday! (Sorry for the book and the mom comments.) You two have a great afternoon! 🎶 Cyd

I started playing guitar around the time Joe was born, and he's been miles ahead of me since he was ten years old. I've seen him live six times, and met him at a meet and greet, nice guy too.

Nope. Joe Played Albert King's LEFT HANDED V in one show but this is a right handed BARROWED 1958 flying V. Shortly after this show, Joe purchased his 1st 1958 FLying V (Named AMOS) from Norm of Norm's rare guitars.

Actually i think that's another Flying V. Joe did use Albert's on another tune in this set....if this is from the Three Kings show at The Greek. It still says "Albert King" on the fretboard....upside down of course, Joe being right-handed.

And you get Reese Wayans on keyboard, who played in Double Trouble with Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the backup singer far right is Mahalia Barnes, daughter of Jimmy Barnes. Joe always has the best surrounding him.

Joe is the king if you like Joe you need to have a look at jimmy barnes and Joe banamosa doing a song called Stone cold. Jimmy is one of the greatest singers ever a legend of Australian music . The back up singer closest to Joe is mahalia barnes Jimmy's daughter. Do your self a favour and have a look

The talent vs skill/practice question is interesting. I've been an amateur guitar player (just for fun at home) for over 20 years. I took the time to learn a lot of the basics but never advanced to really good or great level despite playing for a long time. When you watch a super high level player like Joe or his friend Eric Gales play blues or even a super fast shredder like Steve Vai in the hard rock or metal genre do amazing stuff you can't do, it's frustrating. It's doubly frustrating though when you hear an act that uses a simpler formula, such as the Rolling Stones, AC/DC or BB King play something more simple and attainable to the average player and you realize 'I know all of the stuff they're playing in this song so why didn't I ever come up with a riff or solo this good?' The bottom line is, you can learn all the basics and actually learn to play songs and make your own chord progressions too, but it takes real high-level talent to take what you learn and make magic with it.

Enough with the "boardroom" gag! Most of the old time blues men wore suits, and JB is simply paying homage! Not to mention, it disguises the fact that in fact, he really is just a nerd.
