    I had an Overmountain ancestor who fought under Sevier on I think the Southeast slope. I was able to stand on that same slope of ground 3 years ago.

    That region, as the Watauga Association, declared their independence from Britain in 1774.

    Good video, but it makes the unfortunately common error of using the misnomer "Revolutionary War", which was actually the War For Independence. The revolution was *_not_* the war; rather, it was the concept that no man should rule another against his will. The war was a political necessity to make that idea stick, which it mostly did for a number of years after the war ended, although that period is subject to argument. I would argue that it's an idea our current "leaders" have largely abandoned.
