- Welcome to JustTenMoreMinutes aka JTMM aka The Freakin 10! Ok this is quickly elevated to #2 on my all time fave songs. This version (not listened to the original yet) is just beautiful beyond words. This is one you can imagine sitting around a campfire with friends and singing and having fun. Damn this was amazing!!!!!!!! Please keep the ones I haven't heard coming!!

In the last (instrumental) part of this video they were playing 'The Mug Of Brown Ale', a traditional jig. It totally fit the performance in my opinion. They played a number of songs acoustically on this two-day Nightwish cruise in 2015, most of them being covers.
I've always really liked 'Edema Ruh', especially because I've also read the 'Kingkiller Chronicle', from which the title of this song was taken. Unfortunately they haven't performed it live with the full band very often. It would be something I'd love to hear. The album version is wonderful too. Some nice news: on Friday Nightwish is going to release a video of 'Phantom Of The Opera' (with Henk Poort) from one of their Amsterdam shows last November. I remember it vividly and it's something you don't want to miss!

When I first heard this song on the album , it just grabbed me and therefore this acoustic version is more special to me ❤.
When I saw this reaction, I hit "Like" button right away without first watching the reaction itself. But, yeah ... those triple harmonies ....
Edema Ruh is a people from Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicle books (a favorite of Tuomas). They are traveling performers and troubadours; the main character of the books, Kvothe, is part of this people and is trying to decipher a mystery related to the way his parents died. Clearly this Nightwish song is about themselves and how they see themselves as traveling troubadours bringing joy and hope to other people.

I could always imagine Troy popping up in the Lord of the Rings, sat in the Prancing Pony in Bree playing while the hobbits dance on the table.
I love the way music crosses borders too. Here we have two Fins, a Brit and our Dutch angel playing an Irish Jig on a ship full of metalheads of all nationalities.
Troy is also a great illusionist. He can make things appear and disappear and even levitate. And he can hypnotize people; he healed Tuomas by this from his stage fright in 2012 (you can read this in the Nightwish book "We were here").
First time I see someone confess that the tambourine hits... Kidding. I understand you, their music affects me the same way, and I love the harmonizing of Troy and Floor.
I love this song! My favourite from this album, and the lyrics are perfect! Tuomas is a huge fan of Patrick Rothfuss' The Kingkiller Chronicles book series. In it Edema Ruh are a group of travelers, musicians and entertainers and the references they make with Nightwish work so well! ✌✌
Hey JTTM. I love this performance in the intimate setting of the 2015 Nightwish Cruise onboard the Baltic Princess. There are a lot of funny moments in this little show that Troy and Marko dreamed up in addition to the full Nightwish show. Nice reaction.
Fantistic performance. I'm glad you liked it, and thanks to Martine (I think) for suggesting this. I'm pretty sure you would also like the studio version, it has a strong 80's vibe to it. I think it's a quite underrated song from that album, and a part of that is to blame on Troy and Marco. Tuomas wanted to release Edema Ruh as the first single ot of the EFMB album, but Marco and Troy convinced him to choose Elan. That probably was the better choice from a selling perspective, but Edema Ruh never made it into a single, and never entered the setlists at the shows. So it stands as a hidden gem in their repertoire. The chorus is really catchy as hell and this intimate performance is surely something special..
They did play the full version live on the EFMB tour it just didn't stick around like Elan has as you say. It's a shame it hasn't resurfaced as it's one of my favs from an album of favs! :P

Tuomas, in an interview, said the band voted to release Elan as the single instead of Edema Ruh, over his objection, and then said"The band was right."

I can understand that Tuomas choose this song for the first single, but when you hear 'Elan'.........
I think there are lots of songs from Nightwish that you haven't covered yet, especially from Tarja's era and some from Anette's era.
Have you heard their song Beauty of the Beast? It is Ghost Love Score before Ghost Love Score😅... if that makes any sense😂
