I also think this was a tin whistle, well, at least, sound of the instrument suggests this to be the case. A charming song.

This was an intermission acoustic set on a Nightwish Cruise arranged on the Baltic sea in 2015 or 2016. The set was announced as a Marco/Troy concert but later Kai and Floor joined in. Only the two original members still active in Nightwish were missing...
This is one of my absolute favorite songs from the EFMB album, and I don't know why they have not done it live other than this trimmed down acoustic arrangement. If you love it as much as I do, then I could suggest you would be doing yourself a favor by checking out the full band metal version on the studio album. It is much richer, in true Nightwish fashion, and has a more satisfying sound in my humble opinion. I think you will enjoy it! ... Oh yeah, and I simply cannot leave without mentioning what a gorgeous little kitten!! Such beautiful colors and a real sweetheart personality. I kept wishing I could reach thru the camera and give him a little nose boop!

That's a tin / penny whistle Troy plays later in the song. The proper name is a Flageolet (but nobody calls it that)
It was a tin whistle that Troy picked up, it's used alot it traditional Irish music.

Well let's see Kelly wants to start the weekend off right, hey Nightwish and the Edema Ruh song...a sure bet. Can you imagine being that close and in such a small venue with your favorite band!!!!! I think that was the penny whistle you were asking about that Troy was playing. Beautiful song and I who can't swim and is terrified of the water would get on a boat for Floor and Nightwish (of course I would be standing close to the lifeboats with my life jacket on but hey I would be there!!!(LOL))
Hey Kelly I found this folk band from middle Asia with a lot of unusual instruments and sounds I feel you would really love found them after the Hu Band from Mongolia I was listening to. Try Ethno-folk ensemble HasSak - "Orleu"; ХасСақ этно-фольклорлық ансамблі - "Өрлеу (ua-cam.com/video/8jY-7DSARzw/v-deo.html), the video is also quite interesting!!!

Hi ian, there are SO many videos on youtube to choose from, it becomes confusing to know exactly which one to pick. I settled with a more interpersonal version for now, and I am looking forward to finding the official version. Thank you. The song lyrics are so perfect.

Originally Tuomas wanted this song to be single but other members, Troy among others made him convinced him that Elan was a better choice. I have to say i like Edema Ruh much more.

Deacon of the Deep., LOL... (someone else made that up)….anyway, I was saying there's so many to choose from, and not being familiar with the song, it makes is a bit of challenge to pick one. BUT, I went with a more interpersonal performance, with the excitement of finding the official version later!! Very special to see them perform a song first time.

I abolutely adore floor... I love nightwish... but this song just doesn't do it for me! 😔 Having said that, the 'Floor effect' makes any song sound far better than anybody else could sing it! 😁👍
