I'm saddened that the Pertwee era didn't do more of these. They were fantastic! Who could forget THE AMBASSADORS *TWAAANG* OF DEATH!

One of the things I love about Doctor Who's longevity is seeing the evolution of unique title cards. And also how the logos and fonts for the credits have changed over the decades, both Classic and New Who.
I wish they'd kept the zooming in titles during the Pertwee era as they did on Spearhead from Space.
Missed The Web of Fear’s special ending credits with the fungus effects and maybe The Massacre of St Bartholomew’s Eve’s Episode Backgrounds & The Celestial Toymaker’s Ending Riddles. I say maybe as they were reconstructions but they must have been based open what was seen on screen
I missed a lot of things looking at it again.

Glad someone has done this. I wonder if there were any that we are no longer aware of because the episodes were wiped. There were quite a few other weird inconsistencies in the classic era. They reverted back to earlier versions of the intro for one or two episodes or whole stories like in season 8, the middle-8 returned after years away for a couple of Tom Baker 6 part stories, the end credits howlaround were reversed and upside down for three episodes of The Green Death. Other oddities were the jump back to "episode" rather than "part" in one season 17 story, switching between "Doctor Who", "Dr. Who" and "DR. WHO" in Pertwee's end credits, pink neon lettering for the closing credits of The Awakening, a mix of capitals and lower case for a couple of Season 22 opening credits, the pre-credit sequences for Castrovalva, The Five Doctors, Time and the Rani and Remembrance of the Daleks, the pitch change for Meglos' Part 4 end credits, the altered end credits for final parts of Logopolis and Caves of Androzani not to mention the silent rolling credits for Earthshock... Did I miss anything? ;)
Day Of The Daleks Episode Three runs Pertwee's credit over the final shot of the episode. And Episodes Two to Four include the theme music scream in the reprises of the cliffhangers, IIRC. Also, McCoy's face doesn't emerge properly in the titles to Time And The Rani Part Four. I've mentioned Paradise Towers on a separate comment.
@@w1521 Good call although I never knew that about TATR. Just remembered another one. A Season 18 story where the opening title/episode/writer credit is solid i.e. you don't see the starfield showing through it. God I'm sad.
I'm sure you already know this, but the one Season 17 story is _Destiny of the Daleks_ , and the reason it uses "episode" instead of "part" is because it's the first Doctor Who script written by Terry Nation since _The Android Invasion_ 4 years earlier.
I guess in that time, he forgot that they'd switched to "part", especially considering he wrote 3 stories that used "part" rather than "episode"!
Of course, maybe he never stopped using "episode", and Letts and Hinchcliffe felt like correcting it to "part", while Graham Williams didn't.

@@TheHylianBatman Could be that but it was more likely the chap who composed the on-screen credits. Probably the same bloke who put "Doctor Who and" in front of The Silurians 😂

I always used to wonder as a kid what qualified a story of the fancy card treatment. Like, did the producers just pluck a script at random and say "gimme something special for this one!" Or did they pick stories they though would be sufficiently weighty?
If they did that why pick The Space Pirates?
Why is this so oddly satisfying? Also love the Space Pirates one.
One that no-one ever clocks: Paradise Towers Parts Two to Four have their Part captions over an external shot of the tower block. Every other McCoy episode has it over the first scene.

You can tell they were experimenting with making the fancy title cards a permanent fixture by Season 6 and 7. Would've been cool if they'd kept them

The Seeds of Death is so cool, cos they changed the model shot depending on where the episode starts, the Moon or Earth
Nice compilation! I would've also put in The Smugglers Episode 1 captions, The Highlanders captions, The Wheel in Space opening, The Web of Fear closing & The Claws of Axos opening, but that's just me. :)

@@diamondaxe4133 IIRC, the diamond pattern in the background repeats itself halfway through the opening titles.
Tbh Sleep No More could be passed off as a Inside N°9 story almost tbh just abit more kid friendly

I love the space pirates ones. For some reason the vocals really work
Shows the attention to detail in Season 7 they didn't just lazily chromakey a static slide on the same background ad infinitum, ala most of 1971-1989.
Season 7 was an epic one.

The War Games.. wow! Pretty incredible.
The Tenth Planet and The war Machines title cards were pretty cool.

They were always evolving as a programme, sometimes you just got these cool one offs.
@@DanTheMan2150AD it’s odd they tried so many in those two years when there wasn’t a single person in to make those decisions. When it changed producer more often than caption.
I guess you could have added Episode 4 of The Flux (I think) that had a weird title card.

You forgot The Wheel in Space.
That’s not quite the same thing. TWiS just has the visuals arrive slightly earlier than normal while the theme’s still playing. These stories end the titles music early and use special sequences instead.
