Every Doctor Who Title Drop 1963-2019

- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- Across the years, Doctor Who has racked up a number of "title drops" (when the name of the episode is said within the episode). Here is a compilation of all of them, from An Unearthly Child right up to Resolution.
Note: My criteria for a title drop is based off of individual episode titles when available. Overarching titles will only be used when no individual titles are present.
Note 2: To qualify, title drops have to be exact. For example, if the episode title is "The Daleks," a character simply saying "Daleks" does not qualify. Every word of the title has to be said in the same order.
The doctor : DON'T BLINK
In the same episode : BLINK , BLINK , BLINK , BLINK , BLINK , BLINK .....
Go to work
But don’t go to work
It was actually said much less often than I thought it was.
Blink and you won't miss it
And the episodes literally called Blink 😂
every doctor who story: *title drop*
the gunfighters: *🎶title drop🎶*
That had me in stitches
"Frontios" sounds like all the characters are trying to correct each other on the pronunciation.
Same with Kerblam
Same with The Krotons
Same with all one-worders once you realise
Just in case anybody was wondering:
In episode 2 of The Dalek Invasion of Earth "The Daleks" is said 24 times in the 24 minutes of the episode.
Timelash is said 22 times
Frontios is said 26 times
The Invasion is said 28 times
Terminus is said 29 times
The word "robot" is uttered 30 times in the story "Robot"
Kinda is said 30 times
Logopolis is said 35 times
Castrovalva is said 38 Times
And "The Krotons" is said 77 times.
@@a-random-human-being2311 No, these words or phrases only count when they are said in the episode that is titled the same as said word or phrase
Hey guys, do you think The Krotons debuted in The Krotons? I can’t tell.
@@hopexiaorosetheroyal3588 I can confirm that this Krotons statement about The Krotons is a legitimate Krotons fact, The Krotons did indeed debut in The Krotons, playing the role of "The Krotons"

Paradise Towers?

Having no prior idea _The Gunfighters_ had a singing narrator, it made me burst out laughing when I got to it. I have to check it out now.
Oh yes, the song's iconic! And very repetitive!
I know this is 2 years later but it's 90 minutes of your life you'll never get back

The excessive title drops didn’t happen as much in New Who, until you get to 13’s era.
*Rosa:* 40
*Kerblam:* 43
To be fair those are both proper nouns featured in the episode
Logopolis honestly sounded like they were about to burst into song at any minute.
Logopolis!
Logopolis?
Logopolis?
Logopolis!
Such a fine Metropolis!
5:35
*Let The Talons of Weng-Chiang shred your FLLLLLLEEEESSSSHHHH!*
That delivery
The singing from the gunslinger was hilarious.
Cameron Cormican The singing is the reason that the Gunfighters is my least favourite story of all time
The Gunfighters are proof that British actors cannot do an American frontier western any more than Americans can be actors in the Harry Potter films.
Theta Sigma The singing was awesome, shut up!
DarthAdipose well yeah, you have a point. It is mostly the storyline that makes the episode bad in my opinion. I recently read the target novelisation of it and, even though there isn’t any singing, I hated it and found it hard to focus on the book.
Johnny Ringo, Johnny Ringooo, Johnny Ringo, Johnny Ringo.
What's Doug Judy's favourite episode of Doctor Who?
Rosa, Rosa, Rosa, Rosa! Rosa!
"To solve this crisis, I have to become 'Superman IV: The Quest for Peace'."
Ooooohhhhh, so that's why it's called that.
Similar lines with different long movie titles sound like fun.
“Spock! We have to go to The Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country!”
Its the "attack of the clones"
This is the prime example why you shouldn't name the story after the main thing in the story
Well yes, however I was rather amazed at how many times "The Krotons" was said in that story.
THE BOMB
@@davidbanan. Castrovalva, Kinda.
Actually you're supposed to do that
@@Robert_Manners If my count is right, and I counted a second time at half speed just to be sure, in the 91 minutes of the Krotons, the characters in the story said "the Krotons"... 77 times.

Well, I guess this makes up for the Doctor's pronunciation of "chitinous" in The Green Death...
The Croutons. The Croutons? The Croutons! I guess someone forgot to bring them when making a Caesar salad for that story.
Croutons belong in soup
Jason Marshall No, they belong in a salad. Fight me
Why not both?
So pointless but so entertaining. Highlights : Krotons, Logopolis (say that with a mouthful of Smarties) and Rosa. How you had the time to edit them altogether is beyond me. Better than Brexit, any day.
Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed! It did take me a while!
Croutons, anyone?
There is no such thing as a crouton
It comes to the point where The Krotons doesn’t sound like an actual word anymore.
Thats because it isn't

5:35 one of my favourite lines in the classic series
If only they'd had the foresight to make it "Let the Talons of Weng-Chiang PART SIX shred you...." it would have been perfect
alternative title : every "role credits" moment in doctor who history
The Talons Of Weng-Chiang title drop is legendary.
the funiest part is probably the ones in the gunfighters. i also love that in the stories where the title is dropped a lot of times you can guess the evolution of the episode thru the way they say it. Utopia is a great exemple
You should've ended this video with a bonus clip of The Doctor asking "Doctor who?" in the first episode of An Unearthly Child.
Second*
You should do one with EVERY name drop in other episodes, like Yana saying “The Sound of Drums” in Utopia, “Last of the Timelords”, “Lie of the Land” in the Caretaker etc
Oh man, I don't think I'd be prepared to edit together every single time someone says the word "Dalek"!
@@Merganman4 I didn’t consider that ahaha maybe just a few for Dalek, Rose etc or we’d be here all day 😂

Thie is amazing.
Even more amazing is that I watched it all.
I don't why but every time someone say "Castrovalva" it sound incredibly soothing.
Remember seeing an older video of title drops. Great to see an updated one.
No one:
The fifth doctor: C A S T R O V A L V A
3:37-4:30 “wooooo I’m a kroton! I’m a kroton woooooo”
“I was so much younger then, hehehahahaha”
(7:03) "It's only a model."
You missed one CASTROVALVA: when Adric says it in the mirror when talking to Nyssa alone.
The fact that you knew that presumably without having to rewatch Castrovalva to check concerns me
-Castrovalva?
- C A S T R O V A L V A
You forgot in series 10 The Pilot “The Pilot is located!”
As per the description: "To qualify, title drops have to be exact...Every word of the title has to be said in the same order."
I just double checked to make sure I didn't miss it first time round, and I can confirm it's "Pilot is located," without the "the," so it doesn't qualify.
@lex mota If you're referring to the TV movie, then no, nobody did. If you mean the show as a whole, plenty of people have but it doesn't qualify for this video, as this is just about episode titles.
The first second doctor episode with a name drop was The Abominable Snowmen. That was a season 5 episode. The second doctor first appeared in season 4. The second second doctor episode with a name drop was The Invasion. That was a season 6 episode. At that point I wished their was more name drops in the second doctor era, than The Krotons started... Be careful what you wish for.
Be careful indeed...
the moonbase though
If we counted Flux as a single story then it would take a LONG time till its part here ended...
11:19 *THIS IS THE AGE OF STEEL AND I AM ITS CREATOR!* But then came the Army of Ghosts...
The "Castrovalva" sequence is the equivalent of Groot saying "I am Groot" in a conversation.
Kerblam makes it sound like everyone is arguing on how to pronounce the word with their different accents 🤣

The krotons
The Krotons bit is hilarious
*P A R A D I S E T O W E R S*
Titles like 'Dalek' and '42' are always going to contain the title in the dialogue, but some titles are given because of one of the characters' lines, like Miss Foster's "Partners in Crime".
Or like that guy drowning in Full Circle
Brig: Ro-
Professor: Be quiet!
Doctor: Robot....
The more they say Paradise Towers, the more it sounds like "have a nice towel"
I dont know why but I love hearing all of those “Rosa”s

I'm not looking forward to watching The Krotons if pretty much 25% of the dialogue is just them title dropping the serial
So many things don’t sound like words anymore.

It's pretty crazy, isn't it?
Why? What for?

"This is the Age of steel and I am its creator, but then came the Army of ghost's."
Sound's like a good plot.
How long did it take you to go through all of the episodes to find these?
Well, it was about a year of on-and-off work. Transcripts were a great help, and using them as a reference I would go to the approximate place(s) in the episodes where they say the title.
SOMETIMES and rarely, a story title is mentioned in ANOTHER STORY!
I think Dalek (2005) would like to have a word
15:28 I’m gonna be honest, all the Kerblams made sense to me.
You forgot a "ghost monument" when the doctor stabilises the Tardis
As per the description: "To qualify, title drops have to be exact...Every word of the title has to be said in the same order."
The part you're thinking of, the Doctor says "My beautiful ghost monument," not "the ghost monument."

I don't like how much the 10th Doctor is telling me to Blink.
Take a shot every time they say Logopolis or Castrovalva
You'll be dead in the first few seconds
Do you have to watch every Doctor Who episode again and again to make vids for us?
Fortunately not (with over 800 episodes I can't imagine how long that would take!), I search through the transcripts for the relevant words (although for certain compilations I skim through the episodes).
@@Merganman4 Okay that makes sense
"let this be our last Battlefield"

Teachers when year 1s get sand in their eye and start crying: 11:34
Paradise Towers? Paradise Towers. Paradise Towers! Paradise Towers!? Paradise Towers!!!
That one guy definitely entertains himself by looking in the mirror and saying "The Crimson Horrah"
Funny when you look back on these and have false memories of titles you think were said ha! For example “the tomb of the cybermen”. Likewise “the sound of drums” song used in the story of the same name, but must be a different part of the song or it doesn’t count lol.
You missed one.
The Space Museum (The Space Museum Part 1)
From the description: to quality, title drops have to be exact.
I've just double checked and every instance in Part 1 is either "a" or "their" Space Museum, never "the" (not until Part 4), so doesn't qualify.
If anyone ever extends this to the BF audios, then MR#35 would get a bit annoying. Just how many times is “…ish” mentioned within the story‽ 🤯🤣
"In order to solve this case, I'm going to have to be Dr. Who and the Silurians"
Oh, so THAT'S why they call it that!
Obviously planet names will get the most drops.
