On this episode: come try some comfort food from the homeland!
Ingredients:
- 500 grams of potato wedges (deep fried or boiled)
- gula djawa (Javanese rock sugar or brown sugar)
- trasie powder (fermented shrimp paste powder)
- daun salam (Indonesian bay leaves)
- galangal root
- 1 large onion (finely chopped)
- 4 cloves of garlic (minced)
- 1 (or 2) Habanero pepper(s)
- sweet soy sauce
- kentjor powder (aromatic ginger, a.k.a. sand ginger)
- chicken powder (or salt)
- vegetable oil
- finely chopped parsley

Amaru, vroeger keek ik vaak naar je live ik en ik genoot zeker van je gesprekken maar de laatste tijd heb ik het drukker en ben niet meer zo vaak op YT te vinden. Op een of andere manier mag ik je echt boi en ik heb ook al veel recepten van je nagemaakt, dus dank daarvoor doet. Maar ik ben ook een beetje benieuwd, ik zie dat je locatie Amerika is, maar zag ik een paar jaar geleden niet een filmpje in een NL supermarkt?! Woonde je vroeger niet in NL maar belangrijker ga je soms nog live? Ik zie geen video's onder je live staan in je kanaal. Ik had ineens zin om naar je te luisteren haha. Ik ben iig blij dat je nog steeds je ding doet. Bless! 💛
Hoi goedoe, dank voor je berichtje. Ik ben nog altijd druk beziog met het kanaal en ook internationaal wordt het kanaal zeer gewaardeerd. Recentelijk was ik in Amerika voor 3 nominaties voor het kookprogramma, dus ja, still going strong. Ik ben in NL, maar reis veel en niet zo lang geleden was ik LIVE, maar ja, een ieder is druk, dus mensen schuiven niet aan. Maar goed dat je er nog bij bent, dank voor het kijken weer 👍🏼💐

Ik dacht dat je zo druk was dat je al maanden niet meer geupload had!!!.... Ya killin me with the spicy food! This looks soooo yummy, I'd almost be willing to burn my mouth eating them! I'm such a spice wimp! I love that you go against tradition and cook them the way you like, boil on my friend!
Lol, well, I myself am not a big spicy eater, despite the fact that I was raised on Scotch bonnet and Habanero peppers, LOL!! Yes, I find that boiling them just adds a different bite, so hence 👍🏼💐

1 vraagje: hoeveel gula djawa zit er in uw gerecht? Het staat niet bij de ingrediënten. 😁
Dank je goedoe 💐👍🏼 Een van de schijfjes van de suiker weegt rond de 50 gram, maar je bepaalt natuurlijk zelf hoe heet je het wilt en aangepast daarop voeg je de suiker toe. Dus als je twee of 3 pepers gebruikt, proef om te kijken hoeveel suiker je erbij wilt. Ik ben geen echte peper eter, dus vandaar mijn hoeveelheden ;) Je kan natuurlijk ook gewoon bruine suiker gebruiken hoor, of witte, maar ik gebruik altijd deze. Ik hoor wel of Je geslaagd bent! Trouwens, beide versies zijn verslavend, of je de aardappels kookt of eerst bakt... je bent gewaarschuwd! 😂😂😂
