- Ahead of the all-new 2019 Mazda3's Malaysia launch on 17 July, Bermaz Motor has put display units of the new car at their Glenmarie and Federal Highway branches.
In this first of a two-part video, I have a walkaround with the base 1.5-litre sedan variant. There's also a hatchback version of the 1.5, and above them come three 2.0-litre models - 2.0-litre High sedan, 2.0-litre High Plus sedan, and 2.0-litre High Plus hatchback.

Yes, saw and touched the car at Gelnmarie last week. I must say no picture or video will do justice on how well detailed and plush the interior is, it can be said it doesn’t feel like a mass market brand anymore, it’s more like sitting in an Audi ( I’m not kidding, the tactile feel on the steering buttons and power window switch feels exactly like Audi’s).
But one thing all video reviewers or even car bloggers fail to mention is that this Mazda 3 has the best sitting position for an enthusiast driver’s point of view, period. The height, the way you were cocooned in the cabin through the seats’ curvature simply makes you feel “one” with the car even before you starts the engine. I’ve seen a research footage of Mazda actually takes X ray image of driver’s sitting on car seats to research the relationship between human’s bones and posture and car sitting position. They did go to such crazy detailing and obsessive meticulous to perfect the driver’s appeal of an ideal driver’s car seat.
But will I buy one? The answer no. That kind of pricing , is just not value for money for what it is. In the Malaysia market, this is more like a car selling on emotional appeal rather than product’s capability. Sad but true, all because of this ridiculous pricing. All that is left is whether you can justify its pricing through the extreme detailing and driver’s appeal this car has on buyers’ emotion.

Kudos for the design, its definitely set to be a looker on the road.
High price aside (really hope they have CKD plans to bring that price down), have to agree that the various layers in the door and dashboard need some colors to standout. And wouldn't the armrest impede into the middle rear passenger's space when one attempts to open it?
By the way, after checking uncle YS's video on the 3, it looks like the higher spec variants (or at least the top range hatchback) have rear aircon vents.
The video is nice. Can you do a walkaround for the 2.0 high plus spec for the sedan model ?
It's launching later this week, so hopefully they'll have one on display then
I think the evolve trim which is one spec higher than this comes with rear air vents.

kin hwa yong I think the lowest spec 1.5 isn’t meant to be a serious offering , the major focus is the 2.0 mid or high spec. The lowest 1.5 models are meant to make the pricing looks good ... “ starting from RM 137k” exclude insurance.
@@TSChee-tn5qc I understand where you are coming from. But for Malaysian buyers, it is hard not to compare. I mean Myvi have LED lamps, Preve already has auto climate albeit a simple one. For RM 137k asking price, Honda City and Toyota Vios looks like really good bargain purchase, i know its not apple to apple comparison, but look at it, 1.5 engine, torsion beam setup, Mazda brand has become like a brand snob.
@@kinhwayong Agreed! My 5 year old Kia Cerato 1.6 has better specs than this car.....and my Kia cost me 100k back then!!!! It is true Mazda is moving upmarket, but it will be difficult to change the mindset of buyers. They're making high quality cars but they are skimping heavily on specs, which doesnt seem right

I just viewed this mazda3 at queenbays center court. Damn, the exterior is super sexy compare to what u seen on youtube, i guarantee u will be surprise. When i sit inside, damn again, it is super duper luxury. D segment interior in c segment car. But the CBU price also is a damn. I am sad it will not hv CKD in malaysia, else it will flood the road like wat civic did now.

Clearly, it's not positioned against Civic, Altis or K3 alike as the thoroughness of its overall design, perceived quality & handling is just way above those mass-market products, no offense here. Mazda should be confidently competing with A-Class, A3 & 1-series, I bet there will be fewer haters by then as I wonder why no one is complaining about Mini selling its pig ugly bloated mini bread-van at over 200K.

Malaysian waiting CKD version due to price..
The weak point is its 1.5 litre N.A engine. If it had a 1.5 turbo, civic will have a serious rival.

For the 1.5, there is no sensors especially rear sensors. We live in 2020 yet Mazda feels it’s a luxury to have rear sensor? For the price, does not even give an ounce of justice to the things they offer. Supper disappointing
I don't like sensor. I turn it off whenever it beeps. Driver seat sensor and surrounding sensor = annoying.
