- Many wonder if the 1.5 litre in the Mazda 3 has enough grunt, well i think it's a pretty special 1.5 engine, and arguably one of the only more characterful ones out there. Revs happily, makes a decent noise too.

Thank you Mazda for not putting CVT on their models
I always watch this vid to make me relax, i like how bobby pushes the car around the corners. It really shows how much of a driver's car the 3 is whether its the 1.5 or 2.0. Its a smooth operator for sure and it looks like 1lthe 1.5 is more than adequate as a daily. We get both variants here in the Ph. An owner saud the 2.0 gets 5kpl on heavy traffic. Hopefully the 1.5 gets better fc in our horrendous manila traffic. Thanks for the vid bobby as always.
This sounds like an alternative to the 1.5L MX-5, but with a solid roof + 4 doors + hatchback.
Can't wait for the full review 😍😍
130k for 1.5 engine, might as well get the Mazda 6 for 150k with 2.0 engine.
but 2.0 for mazda 6
Is not enough 🤣
A lot better than I expected given the weight of the car. I have the Skyactiv-X in this model and that does pretty well - 0-100 in about 8.
i want to get the 1.5 (2015) with 255k km ? it is worth? its well maintained and good price
@@victorpinana8939 I can't comment from experience on this engine as I have the 2.0l Sky-X in the new 3.
But, from what I have read and seen online, the 2015 Mazda3 is well-regarded and the Skyactiv engines in general are meant to be bullet-proof.
As good as the handling can be, lets just accept the fact that 1.5 for this c segment car is underpowered. A 1.8 or 2.0 c segment is only considered as sufficient for occasional spirited driving. Not to mention the asking price for this mazda 3. I love this car, i think it looks stylish and the interior is one of the best in its segment, but 1.5 NA to haul the whole family is definitely not enough. And the same thing goes to the aruz, its just underpowered for the weight of the car. But ive seen reviewer keeps saying nah its more than enough and able to climb genting or what not. We have to remember not everyone will floor their car for daily driving, especially when the whole family is inside the car. Smooth power delivery on the low rpm is the key for a comfortable ride.
Waow...expecting smooth comfortable low rpm power from a small na engine, with the whole family in a base-spec hatch
@@Darrentzx this base-spec hatch is 130k something c segment (btw brilliant chasis with zero torque engine)....not some entry 1.5 b segment...people will expect something.
Daru i am not expecting this little 1.5NA to have fat low end torque. This car shouldnt come with this 1.5NA in the first place.
@@ljanhong well, its for people that like the car and dont need power for daily driving. You see many msians buy civic, accord, camry, cx5 with the weaker engine. The 2.0 variant is there if you need it. Cant really complain if the better option is there to suit your needs lol
I driving kancil 660cc manual sit 5 adult nearly 400kgs still can go genting
Damn !
Im gonna test drive the sedan version next Wednesday after watching your review !
Hi Bobby.. b4 the end of the video, u said over 1000 videos. Congrats on your achievement. In fact you are one of the very best reviewer out there. The way you express your feelings, the way you explain everything so detailed and technical makes you one of the best. I believe your wide knowledge on cars help a lot on that. Just a side topic, maybe you can try to have a video on which videos has the top viewers, the most comments, the most talked about and the videos you yourself like most. Like top 1 to top 10. Just a suggestion, cheers!
Thanks mate! :)
Mazda 2 also have a 1.5 engine, a similar gearbox and lighter body. It also has a HUD. You should do a Genting run in it. I absolutely love how it handles.
second that, I am searching for Mazda 2 Genting run, but no one can express and drive as he did. I hope he can do the Mazda 2.
I did a Genting run with Mazda 2 1.5AT (rent from SOCAR haha) it handles so great and agile, after that I bought a Mazda 6 2.0 for myself.
The old Mazda 323s and 3 Gen 1 & 2s always used 1.5L engines ...even 1.3L & 1.4 L engines were used in the past like the their competition... I just think Mazda need to follow the trend like Toyota , VW, Ford etc and use smaller engines with Turbos...Or else use the tweeked up 1.5L out off the MX-5 in the 3..
how much HP on the 1.5 skyactive? here in mauritius we have only that trim variant on the 3/axela. am stuck between the 1.8 hybrid hatch corolla and this model. i know the corolla has more power and better economy whereas the mazda has a better interior.
Mauritius current model is the 2023 with 111 hp. It's more than enough for Mauritius, my first full tank (51 litres) gave me 500 km at Rs 5.57 per km. If you want hybrid fuel economy and residual value get the Toyota. If you want uniqueness, luxury, smoothness, intuitive steering, a telepathic gearbox and one of the best drives of your life go for the Mazda.
@@057Spy Yup...mine is a 22' sedan and I'm currently averaging 12.7 Km/L with mixed driving. A full tank for me is about 630 - 650 KM which imo is pretty fine for a non cvt, non hybrid car 😅
@@057Spy did you have any reliability issues with your Mazda 3 since you got it? Also how is after sales service at axess please?
@@user-w29vfwh59vd 14k Kms so far and no issues at all. 10k service went smooth, I average 6.9l/100km and still have fun everyday.
Axess can be frustrating, i recently tried to order 1 replacement alloy (after damaging 1 of mine) and nobody was able to help me (nor have they followed up with me). I had to bite the bullet and order a whole new set of alloys from Cottage Tyre Centre to get back on the road. This is a common problem in MU in my experience, nobody helps you on the phone, you have to go in person. On-site, the dealership staff are helpful and accommodating, no complaints.
maybe you will meet uncle ys kong on your genting hill run one day. will be a battle.
This car will only sell for its smart transmission and handling.Everything else is turnoff and not equivalent with its pricing.1.5 NA engine for this segment.Imagine if its 2 or more ppl seating in this car while bobby driving uphill.
It will sell for its looks too. But I have to agree with you the engine displacement seems small for its class and we are not used to the steep pricing.
@@yewbtang1848 Well said,But sadly such this car has a almost perfect handling :(
I was thinking of getting the 2.0l variant but wanted the red interior so badly....it would look more like Bobby's Audi!! 😂
Sporty morning drive!
Mazda 2 1.5 also equipped with Head up display right?
You can get a suzuki swift if you want the driving pleasure at a much lower price.
Many people bought the Suzuki Swift Sport to practice and enjoy driving, but in the end they'll realised it is a very typical FWD behavior driving characteristics. And if that's what one wants, every Proton provides that to a certain degree. So if one wants to practice cars that are able to pivot like a RWD car, i think it's either the new Mazda 3 or a used Renault Megane RS250
Still doesn't justify its high price. Maybe if you really love the design. The cx5 2.5t is just 40k more expensive that this. Only people that would go for mazda 3 are probably fan boys or children of rich parents.
im really impressed with the way the transmission work: maintained at 4000 to 6000rpm. My 3 series can't do that!
Exactly, it knows what im doing and downshifts automatically before i am back on the throttle to maintain the revs. Very clever.
Worth to say that Bobby is drive transmission on "Sport" mode, which explain high rpm maintain. Well done Mazda
The only car 1.5l car with head up display. It is also the C segment car with 1.5 NA engine that keep growling in pain over 4k rpm
Bobby Ang is using sport mode
Try to see what engine and price of american mazda 3......
campared to yaris..... how much different the driving experience?
I think its good that the new Mazda 3 is expensive for what it is. That way it'll remain kinda exclusive on the road. If I have 160k to spend on a car, the sedan 2.0 will definitely be on my shortlist
is that torsion beam
cvt is the smoothest transmission in the market.
The worst* 😀
Siewchong Ho nope. The worst mankind invention on earth. Cvt should be banned. Really.
I realised one thing with CVTs.
you will hate it if you want to drive fast on the highway
you will love it if you drive slow in cities
i will have a much slower genting run if the vios and yaris doesnt come with CVT
NVH, cabin size and GVC+ aside, is this generation Mazda 3 a better driver's car than the predecessor it replaces?
Finally!
I struggle to see whos the target market for the 1.5
Singapore lor. Bo bian. The tax structure will kill you for high cc cars
Its a nice car but 1.5na is totally unjustifiable.. Even the 2.0 felt abit heavier. Give us the skyactiv-x or at least 2.5na like in the us and Australia.
People already complaining RM160k for 2.0 engine if the skyactive X enter Malaysia the price might be around RM200K+-
@UC_SpXF189iYjNL9J-ZOJhLg 1.5na makes more sense in Singapore. Looking at their road condition u could barely touch redline . Brought my car there once and i hated it
how do you rate its power and 0-100 maybe?
Is this a 1.5 N/A or a turbo?
Naturally aspirated
how fast is it from 0 to 100
11.2 to 11.5 seconds
@@MrPicky400 thanks...did u try it or you know a source. To be honest i also feel it will be in that range
@@youssefbayoumy5335 ua-cam.com/video/aWmkshEbaD8/v-deo.html
@@MrPicky400 wow thank you i have been searching for a 1.5 0-100 test for a long time!
feel like a RWD...
is it bcoz of the gvc+?¿ 🤔
interesting...
So which would you take for a blast up Genting? This, the Civic or the new Corolla?
I havent driven the new corolla but from what i heard, it outhandles the civic and out-comfort the mazda
@@BobbyAngmalaysia Looking forward to your analysis of the 3 cars 👍🏻 Thanks!
Can get Mazda 3 sky active x manual to test ?
would be perfect if there was a manual option
Can't agree with you more! It will also bring down the price.
Import sky active x manual Mazda 3
How’s the steering fits in your hands?
bobby try to drive myvi 1.5 like this will be posible? same cc engine but different transmision😜😜
bobby review mx-5 with cantonese pls
Will the 1.5 engine be alright for 100km a day daily commute?
why not? of course it will be fine
The video insert looks like you're in a left hand drive car
Rear view mirror mah ... 😂
Can you give the location in Malaysia where are u driving
fuck city
Nice engine sound. Also tyre sound. Hahhaa
I wonder how fast it can do a quarter mile
slow i reckon. but on a mountain run. brilliant.
American gets 2.5L awd 6speed auto
That we do my man
Bermaz will sell RM210k for that spec. Who is gonna but it then haha
Honda city is better choice, the 1.0 turbo version coming
Honda's cars are so ugly compared to Mazda.
Honda Plastics 🤣🤣🤣🤣
why this smile and driving an elantra with no smile? both same rev loudly i think this is even louder, but u smile? mazda pay u higher so u smile? LOL
LOL. You also makes me smile. Thanks
just go test drive yourself and let me know if the elantra's screams sound better or mazda's ...then you judge whether i'm the ass or you're the hole ... :)
listening to ya all whining bout 1.5L mazda3, amateurs wants speed by numbers n sizes
1.5? Better buy mazda 2.
There is no way 1.5 is enough..
First
The transmission work super hard and the fuel consumption down to the drain 😂😂😂
I hate the engine
