DUSTY WAS A SUPER STAR AND NEVER BELIEVED IT! HER PRESENTATION OF A SONG AND HER VOICE HAS WENT DOWN IN HISTORY AS A ONCE IN A LIFE TIME VOCALIST! SHE WILL NEVER BE RELACED AND NEVER BE FORGOTTEN! WE LOVE YOU DUSTY!
Vocal perfection! Always amazed how well she was able to sing live--sometimes her live performances equaled or even surpassed the ones she did in the studio. Now that's talent and commitment!
Bobby M I can’t believe she sang like this live! I thought she had to be lip syncing at first. Then again, they couldn’t electronically modify the voice back then, so if it’s amazing on an old record the singer was as amazing in real life.
@@canislupus1449 Only in your dreams...Tina Marie had nothing on Dusty...she was great too but she didn't have Dusty's sultry soul voice, like typical Soul/Gospel/Church singers do have...
Stands the test of time. Her vocal on this is smooth and forever cool. In this live performance, she makes this difficult song look so easy to sing. Simply the best.
Dusty should have been given the acolades she so rightly deserved! She went far above and beyond everything she did in the music industry! Yet she was never recognized for her contributions until it was too late! Rip Dusty.❤
She deserves more recognition for her contribution to music This may just be the sexiest song of all time! This may just be the sexiest song of all time!
Stunning live vocal performance, truly amazing how perfect it is. Also, love the 60's Dusty moves. Prefer Dusty's 60's style moves to all her others. This is my favorite version of Preacher Man live I believe. She looks terrific. Not many views. Thanks for the post.
Yes, this one's my favorite live version of this song too....she really had it in this one. Not sure why there's so few views, this one is good enough to give me chills. So close to the original recorded version it almost seems like she's lip synching, but she's not...she's belting it out. What a voice.
Yeah, Dusty at the height of her powers here. Hard to believe this LP didn't chart well at the time of release. She was so ahead of her time. But the Memphis LP now regarded in top 50 LP's of all time, better late than never. Although she released 5 LP's in the 70's (All terrific with maybe the exception of "Brand New Me" due to songwriting) think she only had one song that charted in that period, "How Can I Be Sure." They kept choosing the wrong songs to release as singles in 70's.
Honestly not ever getting to see Dusty live or appreciate her when she was alive is one of the things that makes me wish I was born a couple of decades earlier.
Yep it was a live studio performance but was an album lip synced broadcast. (I don't know if the original airing was lip synced though or if they heard the live singing) This was a clip used for one of the Dusty documentaries so that is why it is so polished as a digital copy.
My grandmother, a reverend's wife herself, wanted me to date the son of preacher man. But before we even finished high school, he had his hands full with the grandson of a preacher man.
This song was presented to Aretha Franklin first. She passed. Thank God. She recorded a version after hearing Dusty's. I remember it. TOTAL overkill. Dusty is the best. Little By Little, I Only Want To Be With You and countless others. Classics all. Probably the most underrated and overlooked singer ever. Except to her fans. Gone WAY too soon. RIP, Dusty. You're sorely missed.
Yeah Dusty does a remarkable job singing this. You cant imagine anyone else singing it. She blows it out of the water. Aretha Franlkin cant hold a candle to Dusty singing this
Wow. Since I am a lot into Adele, I started to look at older soul music. And wow. Dusty, this is the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. So soft! And please people. Stop compare Dusty to Adele, Adele has a more sharp voice meanwhile Dusty is a little bit more soft.
Don't mind me: Dusty is the real "Queen of White Soul" (even Aretha knew that)...Adele cannot do uptempo/upbeat music (only ballads)...Dusty did...also check out her last big hit "Nothing Has Been Proved"... If you want to delve deeper into white soul singers you must definitely check Alison Moyet (her early work solo and in band Yaz/Yazoo), Lisa Stansfield, Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone, Alice Russel and Annie Lennox or even Cher (more Pop)...all those women have more Contralto/Soprano traditional Soul/Gospel/Blues kind of voice...
@@dontmindme5163 I didn't do anything...you said you were into Adele and Soul music...and I just gave you all the facts about it...nothing else...comparisons will always exist whether we like it or not...Adele has a soulful voice (like I also said) and at times she can pull off songs like the absolute timeless (in my opinion) "Rolling In The Deep", but most of her songs/body of work isn't quite Soul/R&B (and nor did Dusty's for that matter)...Now, Dusty was a pioneer in that sense (in being the 1st white woman to sing Soul/R&B material) and everyone will agree, because it's factual and not based on individual opinions. This isn't a matter of being in high school and each person chooses what they feel like it...it's facts... And what I said about Adele is also true...up until now and excluding her best song I already mentioned, she wasn't able to provide audiences real midtempo/uptempo songs...she herself knows that and referred to it on interviews...and that is necessary if she wants to be regarded as a more complete artist and so more credible too...maybe then some comparisons will definitely STOP...
OUT.OF.THE.BOX.ROBOT I really don’t get where you wanna come with your long texts?
