iamfuturetrunks To be fair, Keanu Reeves often gets a lot of work but he just tends to do a lot of independent films which you just may not have even heard of. There are a few big actors that do this like Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr.
Pretty much. I'll admit my biggest gripe about action movies is Shaky cam. Yuck. I cannot stand it. Yeah, the Borne films did it, but now it has become a crutch as a cheap gimmick. Or worse, stars who either refuse or do not want to do physical stunts. It is why I love Tom Cruise as he is not only an amazing actor, BUT does his own stunts. I digress. The first John Wick impresses me as a Revenge flick in that it has a very unusual method of getting to the revenge part that makes sense. The dialogue is really sharp. And really, the world building is impeccable. So much is shown in the movie and yet it doesn't bait for a sequel or be vague. It is the right dose. And Keanu Reeves is perfect. Very underrated actor and I'm so happy he found something like this. This might be my favorite role he's in. He can sell action very well and that nightclub scene in John Wick is one of my favorite sequences in any action movie. I could gripe about the third act, but really it is minor. So yeah, Hollywood should learn from this. STOP relying on shaky cam. Do actual physical stunts and get people who can do them.
Ive watched his training for John Wick and he really really liked doing all those stunts!! It really is a plus when your actor is passionate about the Stunt Work,!!!!
I love how you can so fully explain a movie with no spoilers. You are really the only movie reviewer I can trust to give a review actually worth listening to without telling too much about it.
I have to really disagree with you on your criticism of the motivation for JW2. Without giving it away, while yes, it isnt based on his choices as you said, the fact that he is forced serves a purpose for the story and his character in showing you how conflicted John Wick is inside. Hes really good at what he does, but he really doesnt want to be doing it any more; he wanted out. He seems tormented, vulnerable and more human (which is brilliant for this seemingly invulnerable killing machine). That really sucked me in and had me compelled enough on the story end (the action was top notch from minute 1).
Army1601 Great point, you could really see that confliction he speaks to Antonio initially. It is also why I want them to think carefully about Chapter 3, it absolutely has potential to be awesome but there is only so far the franchise can get if he is reluctant and wants out, I am sure it will be good though, Chapter 2 definitely didn't disappoint. But the initial motivation was more raw and clear cut; vengeance, for a crime the audience witnessed, against the pure innocence of a puppy and a man who wants to live quietly.
Chinedu Opara Good idea, a poetic ending, he has pretty much nothing left to hold him back, like he said he would kill them all, that might materialise as a suicide mission against the high table, systematically picking each member off one by one. Perhaps will the help of some allies, as JW1 demonstrated he has friends in high places including the Continental owner guy, Charon and Willem Dafoe who literally gave his life for him. It something we haven't seen, a assassin collaboration perhaps with Hugo Weaving to complete the Matrix guest stars.
Chinedu Opara I like your ideas for the most part, but I don't even think you have to kill him. I think they could have him fake his death toward the end so he can be incognito and live the quiet life he's always wanted to live. Maybe meet a new woman perhaps? Idk. Maybe I'm thinking too much about the Dark Knight Rises lol.
When it comes to action films, you do not mess with Keanu Reeves. In other genres his overall output is admittedly a mixbag, but when it is all about the action, the man is king!
I'm so pissed off John Wick: Chapter 2 isn't (as yet) getting released in Australia. Distributors have a long history of treating Australian like we live on another planet, not giving us new releases for months after the American release. Then they bitch and moan when we pirate movies.... It's not hard, you want our money? Let us see the film
The distributor (eOne ANZ) wants to wait to see how the movie does internationally before releasing it down here. Look like they weren't happy with how La La Land preformed at the box office (4th in the world behind US, UK and South Korea) and now they're gun shy. Thing is interest won't hold, all the actual fans of John Wick 1 will have pirated it and when the general public finds out we got it months after everyone else they'll either not bother watching it out of spite or wait till it hits Netflix. eOne will end up blaming us when it bombs down here and put off their next movie release cause "Aussies don't go to the cinema".
Keanu actually started competing in 3-gun competitions back in John Wick 1 so he wouldn't look like a total idiot handling a piece. Dude can shoot fast and accurately in real life too. As opposed to handling them for an entire movie, then protesting them.
I think it is even to high. It has major flaws in character build, plot and even actions scenes. e.g. the scene in the subway, the silencer shooting: just ridiculous, I had to lough at this point and that is not a good thing in a movie which takes itself so serious. *spoiler*: and now everyone in the whole city is an assassin? He walks around covered in blood and nobody notices? this movie is so over the top. I would give it a B- or C+ it wasn`t nearly as good as the first one.

I think winston had all his assassins planted there to possibly kill wick. but he doesnt get him killed, and all the assassins disperse. The same assassins are probably in the garden or whatever, hence all of them get the call.
@@Slashhead1 I think you stil consider this like it is our world, i feel like the john wick movies are ment to be in another reality where this organization is everywere much like gods eyes, thats why theres no explanation whatsoever and that gives it more curiosity and free to imagination, you build the movie yourself and that beautiful.

He left it all behind for his wife only for her to get cancer and die. Before her death she sent him a dog only for that past life to come back and kill his dog. Once he found solace his past life once again comes back to haunt him for a debt he owes for the very person who got him out in the first place. He loses his house and his car. Then loses everything tied to the continental and at the end is basically left alone with his new dog. Guys this has the potential to be an amazing trilogy. The storyline is so emotional if you think about it. Especially on the first movie when he gets mad about his wife and dog. Then in this one when he yells in the back room out of frustration for just getting out and now back in. Hopefully he finds peace in the 3rd one
Favorite film critic, without question. Keep up the great work, Chris💁😊👌👏👏 My husband and I never go to the theater without first hearing your input. Much love!
The emotional reason for Wick is great in this movie as well it’s just different. The anxiety of Wick being “damned if he do damned if he don’t so what the heck is he going to do?? How will he overcome??” kept me completely engaged in the story.
Captain Harlock Well, I remember it from a trailer for the movie a few years back, and then I bought the Queen Emeraldas manga at a comic store, so I decided to give that show a watch. Which I loved. I haven't watched the movie though... I'm, I'm not sure I want to.
Watch "Arcadia of my Youth"(1982) that's the not only a semi Harlock origin story but the definitive in my book Captain Harlock film. It is also called "My Youth in Arcadia" but that's a bad English translation, and not the name of the ship as intended. BTW watch the sub don't watch the dub its horrible and changes key moments. There was also a series based off that movie "Arcadia: Endless Orbit" I think it was called but cant seem to find it, especially not in English. Galaxy Express999(original movie) Also has badass appearances by Queen Emeraldas and Captain Harlock.
Captain Harlock I didn't even know there was a dub... And I would check it out, but the only source I can find is kissanime, which isn't bad, I just wish I had another source.
Disagree here. I thought the world setting strained credibility far more. In many scenes, JW combats enemies in full view of the public, and this has no consequences. Also, the fight choreography was very repetitive and unconvincing, with his foes all having 100% morale despite vast losses, and all behaving like idiots making themselves super easy to kill - barely an inconvenience for JW. People on both sides of a fight somehow magically know when their opponents have guns and when not, and after having no trouble beating up a hundred big burly men, JW predictably has a lot of trouble fighting the tiny waif of a woman who is super tough, because this is a movie, and good-looking women who don't smile are all amazing at martial arts.
Why do I feel as if this movie had more of a comic strain than the first? The first was dark and emotional, this was lighter and more focused on action, some were just too repetitive. Some of the first movies charm was the unknown mystical underground movement and in this it got way too exposed. And the James Bond-feely prep for the mission really felt too light and bubblegum for a bad*ss movie series. I really enjoyed chapter I, chapter II not so much. To see or not to see chapter III... that is the question.
Great review Chris. Chapter 2 develops on the sophisticated assassin world, and provides more excellent and realistic action, 8/10. That mirror fight scene was awesome!
Of course he can aim perfectly - if he misses, all he has to do is step in to a time-travelling phone both and keep going back until he gets on target. So-Crates.
Haroon P that fight is 7 minutes and some odd seconds but granted there was a 4 minute fight scene right before it. That kitchen fight scene is the best fight scene in any movie ever.
My body is ready. So excited for this movie and so glad to hear that it doesn't suck. I watched Jack Reacher 2 this weekend and got scared Wick would be a similar experience
Pretty much spot on review, the production work of John wick movies is far superior to any recent action movies, including most Hollywood blockbuster CGI laden crap. Which is neither dramatic or visually appearing , resembling more video game then anything in reality. Especially the later fast and furious movies, oversaturated with CGI making real stunt work a thing of the past and the drama nonexistent. Tremendous camera work again and cinematography showing that true fight scenes with actors that know how to fight does not require a shaky jiggly camera with quick edits and upfront shots confusing visuals that many Hollywood director's rely on for cheap shortcuts and fake action. Although Lawrence Fishburn is an excellent actor, his part in the movie was rather distracting obviously overlapping with the matrix connection with past between these actors,it was an unnecessary intrusion into the John Wick world. His lines were awful and really didn't add anything to the story. One of the best equals made in recent time and a great ending looking forward to John Wick 3
Chris, you came up with the solid points @5.40, nobody flying from the helicopter, nobody jumping from the skyscraper rooftop, no superhero stunts, just hand to hand combat and gun-fu and you can make a fantastic action film based on that. Good point, man, good point.
"Nobody's hanging from a helicopter. Nobody's jumping off of rooftops onto another rooftop. Nobody's, you know, flying through the air at Mach Speed." I see what you did there, Chris, you sly dog. Long-distance high-five!
I loved the hell out of the original, but here's a fun fact - Eva Longoria...yes that's right - the Desperate Housewife - was the producer of John Wick 1 lol :D
Proxima256 I want people to actually see what he gave it and watch it because the comments are full of people giving the actual rating. I'm just throwing a random ass comment out there to see how gullible his fanbase is. It seems they are very gullible.
Chris thanks for another amazing video! I just want to say you have allowed me to view films in a totally different way, and made me take a future in film more seriously. I recently just uploaded my first short film and a lot of the notes I took for proper execution of it I got from watching your reviews. You gave me a clear look of what to do and what NOT to do. Thanks a lot Chris, keep the videos coming!
I agree, motivation wasn't as strong as JW1 but it was there and believable, 8/10 for JW2. It is also why I want them to think carefully about Chapter 3, it absolutely has potential to be awesome but there is only so far the franchise can get if he is reluctant and wants out. But the initial motivation was more raw and clear cut; vengeance, for a crime the audience witnessed, against the pure innocence of a puppy and a man who wants to live quietly.
They won't even release John Wick 2 in theaters in Sweden just because the first one was so under-seen by audiences. That is such bullshit D: Great review Chris!
This movie finally got released in Australia... Been waiting AGES to see it! Enjoyed the hell out of it! Really loved the action scenes and the story behind it. Wasn't expecting it to be as good as the first one but damn it was pretty close! Now this is how you do a sequel to an action film 👌 One of the best things is that the trailer barely gave anything away about the plot which was great. I can't wait for Chapter 3.
Totally agree Stuckmann, Wick Chapter 2 is an action lovers dream (and I was fine with the different motivation since I knew they were not gonna rehash the wife/puppy storyline)... Just got back from a Wick 2 screener tonight...loved it. The Assasins Guild World mythos of Wick is tapped into more, the cities of Rome and NYC are "characters" again as well (like NYC was in the first film), Keanu is boss as this character (his inner life and physical prowess), and the great cinematography blended with Keanu-Gun-Fu choreography is so "long take see the action dance" beautiful from Stahelski. "Be seeing you again John Wick Chapter 2." for sure over the weekend with friends...bring on Chapter 3 Stahelski & Keanu, love this character /world, top notch action bloody well done!
that first scene with the russian drug boss that had john wick's car was worth gold. specially when hohn wick calls him and tells him you have my machina ''car'' hes face expression was funny af or the part with the ''oh'' just like in the first movie....overall 10/10 a fresh unique movie

I have to really disagree with you on your criticism of the motivation for JW2. Hes really good at what he does, but he really doesnt want to be doing it any more; he wanted out. Captain Harlock He's done that a few times. Really confusing.
Btw, I love Captain Harlock.
I thought it was just me:P and thank you! So rare that anyone recognizes the name anymore lol
So that's it, huh? We're some sort of, John Wick 2
This never gets old
tropicAces It's time to stop
Aurodeep Kamal never
Jordan Stevens It just got old
I still laugh at this stupid joke every time
That actually wasn't a bad Brando. :D
You took this movie Wayyy too seriously, it's *meant* to stretch believability, it's *meant* to be a lil "comic-y"... Just look at the premise 🤷♂️
He didn’t he didn’t have trouble fighting her at all, she stabbed him once but other than that it ended quick and she couldn’t do anything
Im just glad it didn't pull a Jack Reacher , Fucking awesome first movie then the sequel is just a load of bleh.
I totally disagree on that one. Thats what most people say but I thought 2 was good. Jai Courtney ruined the first one for me.
Man people just really don't like Jai Courtney.
Jake Driver Its just the guys expressions i think. It always seems like hes faking it, and kinda brings u outa the movie.
I didn't see Jai Courtney in John Wick's movies, u mean Jai Courtney as Jack Reacher?
+Shane Walsh lol, Ummm I duno man. Read the post.
John Wick 2 Electric Boogaloo
Aman Network Have you even seen the 2 breakin films?
no. but whenever someone talks about a sequel I just have to say it. it's on my list for movies in 2017 to watch
Aman Network More like John Wick 2 Electric Boogeyman
I couldn't think of anything clever to say in the comments section...
Barry jeffrey
Well, that's honesty at least. +1
So, what are we? Some kind of John Wick's snapped neck?
Das Kinophile ENTP god dammit you got a smirk out of me!...fuck
Blue Way, You're welcome.
*tips fedora*
Don't get it.
No, we're Killgrave's snapped neck.
You tried
Great review Chris. Chapter 2 develops on the sophisticated assassin world, and provides more excellent and realistic action, 8/10. That mirror fight scene was awesome!
MrUzzynator disappointing film but yeah that scene was done quite well actually
8/10? Man. I have great news for you. This movie is actually a 5/10. You just haven't seen any 8/10 movies, and there's PLENTY!
@@korosuke1788 you must be comparing apples to oranges.
Of course he can aim perfectly - if he misses, all he has to do is step in to a time-travelling phone both and keep going back until he gets on target. So-Crates.
Star Power!!! Operator.
I actually think Chris's review on John Wick is far more better than Jeremy Jahns's.
sumaya fiqy
Agreed.
sumaya fiqy They always are
sumaya fiqy thanks buddy
sumaya fiqy Jeremy Jahns is a fuckin moron
Who cares dude. Just enjoy and support the reviewer you prefer. You guys always looking to start some drama, "it's us against the world, BS."
Wait wait wait?! More action than the raid 2!?!?
I'm not sure I believe that.
Asian Movie Enthusiast It is a bold statement indeed.
+Walter soprano ye i doubt john had like a 10 minute fight in a fckin kitchen
Haroon P that fight is 7 minutes and some odd seconds but granted there was a 4 minute fight scene right before it. That kitchen fight scene is the best fight scene in any movie ever.
Ye i loved the fighting, you can tell genuine fighting with proper skill in movies compared to others and not some fake camera work like steven seagul
Chris grow out your beard please 😁
Jailan Simon nah
Jailan Simon yes
Jailan Simon You know thats not the real Chris right?
Chris Stuckmann shave it!
CHIN STRAP!
Out of all the typical standalone one man action movie, Jack Reacher, Jack Ryan, Bourne, John Wick's the only character I really want to see again
Me too and he's way more badass! a pencil a mofo pencil!!
My body is ready. So excited for this movie and so glad to hear that it doesn't suck. I watched Jack Reacher 2 this weekend and got scared Wick would be a similar experience
so that's it huh we're some kind of John wick: chapter two
ratty 398 thank god this comment has a little bit of likes. maybe people like you will release its a dead joke due to people like you
Nick Is Dank
I liked the comment just because you were being very rude.
akinkymidgit thank you
akinkymidgit its true. these comments are cancer
Nick Is Dank yes.yes they are
Ok. Ok , I'm up. I'm awake. Let's do this
Come on Chris, this deserves an A
Pretty much spot on review, the production work of John wick movies is far superior to any recent action movies, including most Hollywood blockbuster CGI laden crap.
Best fucking movie ever
Cat..........""Why did you say that name""
PS: i dont know the cat's name
John Wick 2 = favorite movie
John Wick has an aim bot.
John White I saw him downloading hacks.
That Cowboy Bebop tee tho 👌👌👌
loved the first movie, and can't wait to watch this over the weekend!
Chris I've been watching your channel for around a year and your channel has sparked passion for film and movies in me, THANK YOU!
What are we some kind of Keanu Reeves!
+Blue Way Fuck you TOO
That impersonation of Vito was great
but does it djent?
Lmao
Don't bring that to Stuckmann's channel
Damn bro you a djentleman. I love djent bro
I only just saw this, fantastic film. Awesome stuntwork, great camera work. No shaky cam, THANK YOU!!!!
Chris you should review the bottom 5 movies rated on imdb and the the top 5 respectively... If you haven't already.
Well IHE doesn't do the top ranking ones, I'm not sure if "The Search for the Best" would make a very compelling series lol
I loved the hell out of the original, but here's a fun fact - Eva Longoria...yes that's right - the Desperate Housewife - was the producer of John Wick 1 lol :D
G McLeod Seriously???
"So that's it huh? We're some kinda...
Chapter 2?"
Love how you're wearing a Spike shirt while reviewing a Keanu movie.
I was waiting for this review. So glad Chris liked it!
Wow Chris. A C-? I thought it was better than that.
don't do that
Bryce Pennington what...
Ah man, these comments just undermine the work Chris puts in to pacing his videos. You guys are dicks
Proxima256
I want people to actually see what he gave it and watch it because the comments are full of people giving the actual rating. I'm just throwing a random ass comment out there to see how gullible his fanbase is. It seems they are very gullible.
Proxima256 I completely agree with you on this point, but if you had watched the review, you would know I'm only joking.
I expected an A- , oh well.
Hey Chris! How was your day? I hope it went well. Love your videos!
I HAVE BETRAYED YOU CHRIS!:( I had to watch the Jeremy Review first, felt so ashamed of my self.
That ending though.
So that's it huh, we're some kind of john wick chapter: 2?
No please.
SLCbr0fus please don't,
Love the Brando impression!
John Wick Chapter 2 is better than the first
5:27 Chris predicts the scenes from mission impossible fallout back in February 2017
Holy shit lmao
They won't even release John Wick 2 in theaters in Sweden just because the first one was so under-seen by audiences. That is such bullshit D: Great review Chris!
they actually did and I went and saw it -_-
@@VaelBraga well Chapter 3 is finally here.😀
I like when Chris said “gung-fu” FYI that’s actually the traditional right way of saying it.
Wow I felt the same way too that John Wick Chapter 2 stunt work reminded me a little bit of Enter The Dragon
Can you review Sky High! Its one of my favorite superhero movies!
As much as I loved Ben Affleck as Batman, but if Keanu Reeves played Batman, that would be fucking insane...
John Wick Chapter 3
Nationwide
Where does he need to go then?
Space!
Therefore
John Wick in SPAAAAAACE!
All of the John Wick movies are extremely bad-ass. These movies will be remembered as modern classics in the years to come.
So what are we, some kind of John wick: chapter 2?
1 view 21 likes.. seems about right
Notification squad where you at!?
Am here
Heyo!
You're wrong here, Chris.. John Wick 2 was undoubtedly better than the first.
