I remember Tim Watson and the crew exhibiting the bones of this layout at the MRC exhibition in Central Hall, Westminster back in the late 1970s. It's amazing to see it all now, and to know that Tim is still leading the project!
It is hard to believe it's 2mm finescale. The change of scales inthe rear buildings is very clever. The only thing wrong on the layout which they know about is the bridge at the north end of open haven tunnel where the real Caledonian Road pages over the ECML, it's facing the wrong way but that wasdonr for design purposes. Sadly the Victorian church which I remember fellout of use in the 1960s and has now been demolished. Nice to see the Ebonite tower and also the cattle markets
Yes it's an incredible piece of modelling and the fact that most (if not all?) of the locos are built by hand is incredible. I'm generally of the opinion that all layouts have the odd mistake or compromise but here (and in most cases) it certainly doesn't detract from the overall model. I know I couldn't come close to building something of this standard! Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy and what people need to realise is this is NOT n gauge but 2mm Finescale so half of P4 which would drive me nuts. PS Your Christmas layout is something so special.
Wow, that is epic. We're both shunting enthusiasts, but it sure is nice to see those A4s, etc, with their Pullmans and teaks and the lengthy goods trains, too!
Yeah, while I certainly prefer shunting when it comes to operating a layout I do tend to enjoy layouts at exhibitions that have loads of trains running past frequently! Thanks for watching 😃
So nice to see this incredible layout. the LNER is by far one of my favourite railway companies and to see that grand approach to kings cross modelled so well is incredible. As well to see the location of one of my favourite films of all time, I will always picture those final scenes taking place above the tunnel mouths. Simply stunning
It's a pretty incredible isn't it! Calling it a model railway doesn't really do it justice, it's a scale model of part of the city and there happens to be a railway running through it! Thanks for watching 😃
It's absolutely staggering isn't it. It truly feels like looking down on a miniature world! You can see why it took so long to create. Thanks for watching 😃
It looks like it goes for miles and miles what great affixes. So glad you showed us this one. I like the underground part also what a great idea so unexpected. GOD BLESS from America 🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖
It really does! It's not a small layout by any means but the way the scenery merges into the back scene is very clever. I agree the Underground station is also really cool too! Thanks for watching 😃
It really is enormous isn't it! I'm so glad I had enough footage to feature this layout in a bit more detail as it really does deserve it's own video. Thanks for watching 😃
My pleasure Fred, yeah it's difficult to tell in person as well. The way the scale reduces towards the back is a fantastic effect and it really does trick the eye into thinking it just continues forever. Thanks for watching 😃
Hi TMRG, I do like your videos, I also like the variety of your themes 👍👍 Its everytime a pleasure watching them; thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge and experience 👍 It stimulates and gives new ideas! I'm running with Swiss narrow gauge (H0m) and USA (H0) in modules; Season greetings from a small village in the middle of the Netherlands and stay healthy! Wim 🚂
Thanks Wim, so glad you enjoy the videos I make. Sounds like you've got two very interesting layouts yourself so best of luck with those and thanks for watching 😃
I believe her house is just off-stage from where the layout is set but apparently the characters from the film are in the forecourt of one of the stations. I have to admit I found that out after seeing the layout though so I didn't see them myself. Thanks for watching 😃

Awesome! It must be so satisfying for everyone involved to see their hard work over the decades paying off. Thanks for watching 😃
It's a brilliant layout this, the attention to detail is incredible and yeah you could look at the layout all day and still find new things about it
Absolutely, it's less a model railway and more a model city which happens to have a railway! Thanks for watching 😃
This is amazing! Love all the detail. It's weird to see a scale length passenger train look tiny on the rest of the layout. Nice video!😃
I know, I never thought I'd see an LNER express service be dwarfed by it's surroundings! Thanks for watching 😃

PS
Your Christmas layout is something so special.
Another thing to look out for is the names of the shops - some of them are taken after names of people who have worked on the layout.
Ah fantastic! I didn't know that so thanks for sharing! Thanks for watching 😃
That rebuilt P2 at 3:10 with teaks looks incredible.
I know, it's incredible isn't it! I believe all the locos are made from scratch or kits but they're so good you'd never know it. Thanks for watching 😃
Not rebuilt, it's 2003 Lord President which was the first of the P2's with the A4 style nose.
Wow, that is epic. We're both shunting enthusiasts, but it sure is nice to see those A4s, etc, with their Pullmans and teaks and the lengthy goods trains, too!

Wow that layout has everything!
It certainly does! Thanks for watching 😃

That's so cool attention to detail is amazing well done to all who created it over 4 decades 👏

Wow, it’s huge and incredibly realistic and detailed 😍🤩 thanks for showing it on UA-cam 🙏 Greetings, Erik 🙋♂️🇧🇪
It is truly incredible and I have to admit my video really doesn't do it justice! 😂 Thanks for watching 👍

Always love the musical choices for your videos.
Thanks! Since I compose/record all the music in my videos myself I'll take that as a double compliment. Thanks for watching 😃
I've seen this layout in railway modeller but this video really gives a sense of the size and good lord its spectacular 😃
Another nice showcase 👌🏽
It really is enormous isn't it! I'm so glad I had enough footage to feature this layout in a bit more detail as it really does deserve it's own video. Thanks for watching 😃
Wow , thanks for sharing this ! Certainly difficult to tell where the excellent backscene begins and ends . best wishes from Wales 💛💙

Thanks
Amazing! Love your videos please keep uploading them
So glad you enjoy them, there should be a new video out this weekend! Thanks for watching 😃
I'm going to a model railway exhibition this Sunday. 😃 I hope there will be layouts like this one to look at. :)
Awesome, I'm sure there will be some fantastic layouts on display. Have a good time and thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy I got a terrier (Leadenhall) for £65 but its missing a buffer.
Yeah the layouts were brilliant. :)
It looks fantastic! Also congratulations on 11,000 subscribers, and you're nearly half way to 12,000!
Thank You! The Chanel has been growing really quickly lately so it'll be interesting to see when we make it to 12K! Thanks for watching 😃

Such an important layout
It definitely is - just goes to show what's possible if you put your mind to it! Thanks for watching 😃
Amazing layout, incredible detail but I couldn't see Mrs Wilberforce!
I believe her house is just off-stage from where the layout is set but apparently the characters from the film are in the forecourt of one of the stations. I have to admit I found that out after seeing the layout though so I didn't see them myself. Thanks for watching 😃
What happens when you work on the skills and abandon ready to run stuff
Yeah it definitely shows what can be achieved with real skill and enough time! Thanks for watching 😃
I was trying to spot Mrs Wilberforce's house.
Hallo
Beautiful layout
Hi Harris, yeah it is a fantastic layout isn’t it. Thanks for watching 😃
