They shouldn't have gone with it, while it is interesting to see a screen flex like that, the novelty wears off fast. Maybe as a collectors version not meant for daily use. I think using multiple screens separate like, that could have worked out better.
You got scammed. How exactly is this refurbished? Nothing about this phone is refurbished. They just labeled it refurbished and did absolutely nothing. Always avoid buying anything that says refurbished
before zflip, this is my dream phone as a highschooler. it's compact and an android also. I'm now a graduating student and will purchase one when i have a job just for life accomplishment award
Honestly nice to have little bucket list things like that. On a side note though, Motorola is still making new foldable nowadays, a lot more usable if not slightly boring looking.
Get the razr+ instead, it's the newest motorola foldable and it's really good, you can use any app from the exterior screen and it actually covers the whole front
The razr 2019 failed because of delays, components were produced in Wuhan, and very few units went out to retailers. Stock got better 6 months later, when lockdown was taking place. CNET video made it get lot of hate, and tech media hated on its camera and design. Actual phone owners loved it and you can see many verizon, best buy or amazon reviews about it. But Motorola listened to tech media more than its users, and the razr ended up getting more refined into a modern foldable that looks nothing like the original razr, but is very capable. If you ask me, I would take a nostalgic original design over the current razr 2023 phones.
I can see why it failed. Screen looks absolutely atrocious. The obviously noticeable crease is an eyesore. Screen too glossy. For the initial asking price, I’m sure most said nah, used their funds for a flagship iPhone or Samsung, and saved about $400 after tax. Obsolete junk
Everything said there, was said for the Samsung flip. What's different eh? Shittier screens, very obvious crease, reflective, and fragile mf screen. Your nail would literally leave an indention on the screen of the flips. I'm sure they didn't take their money and got a flip. Ain't saving money with that. 🤷 Can hate all you want. But it's no different than getting a flip. Better reader location than the flip tho. Nicer bsck screen. Comparable hardware. Bout the same price of the flip of the year it released. Man, I can go on, and not based off of a video. Actual hands on my friend. All three brands. The razr was objectively better than the flips, but not Samsungs actual flagships; like the ultra.
i dont know that id be so aggressive as to call it junk, i mean its kinda cool that they were willing to do something different with the design, kinda cool how they based it off there original phone. definitely obsolete though haha

Just like those, they should have used multiple screens together, rather than one big flexible folding screen. It could have gone better if they worked that out somehow.
Yeah Lenovo can’t replicate the true Motorola quality especially the part where he failed to close the phone and you can lift up the oled screen with a clipper and even fingernail. Only reason why Thinkpad is so good is because of IBM oh wait Thinkpad aren’t great anymore these days so they lose IBM identity and also Motorola identity when they bought those two companies
@@alpzeptawhat are you yapping about, the phone couldn't close because there was a literal screw in the frame and the screen gap is because of the poorly done refurbishing job
@@archux_ Well a hinge is more likely a refurbishers fault but the fact that there are gaps on the OLED screen that can be lift up by finger it is not right. I have more problems with a new Thinkpad though. Lenovo's Thinkpad design decisions after 2019 (like T490 and newer) are horrible and now they look like any other laptop Lenovo needs to step up and make Motorola and Thinkpad what they are or they might get sue like Sharp did to a Hisense by an IBM or Motorola themself for trying to ruin a reputation of those legendary brands
Since the 2019 Razr was Verizon exclusive it saved most people from being tempted. The Razr 5G was actually legit and has a handful of UA-cam vids talking about how nice it still was a couple years in. I used it for three years and it still felt like it was brand new at the end, my aunt is using it now.
This phone was just a poor, weak attempt from Motorola trying to relive their glorious days; but failing in the process. It ended up being a spectacular flop. It was stupidly expensive and not at all functional for standars from 2019 and on.
The BRAND MOTOROLA was able to establish a wide clientele amongst the markets. It is not on a loss...since it is able to manufacture millions of items that are still used today, and some of its product lines. It has a promising year(s) ahead.
I have the Motorola Razr 2024 and it's amazing, can't even tell there's a crease in the screen unless you look for it and it has 8gb ram 256gb storage and the new external display is a 3.6 in 1080p AMOLED panel ...
It's 2024 and I'm using RAZR 2019 as a daily phone. My RAZR is still alive and looks gorgeous. Times go by, all samsung's screens cracks and cracks and cracks...But RAZR is still alive. Just because his ancient flexible display is way better quality, than any Samsung's of OPPO's or any other (especially way better than Tecno). I've shoozen silicone, not a useless ''flexible glass'' (dead birthed technology)
Am using a Fold 5 now but literally have the 2019 Razr sitting next to me....wife keeps telling me to sell but I can't, nostalgia plus feels like I just got it 😢
I think a big issue with the new Razr was marketing for sure. To this day when I tell people Motorola re-released a new Razr most people are shocked and had no idea.
If the price wasnt so fucking high it would have done better. I wouldnt give the folding too much heat as folding smart phones are like prototype tier currently. They'll improve over time, but price is key and the price is too high
I really wanted to buy this phone. But compared to other phones on the market at the time, for half the price, you could get double the camera, double the ram, double the processing and a bigger battery. Plus it was hard to find anywhere in store. If they had kept that exact retro design & kept including the razr theme going forward with better internals I would have one right now.
ive had the dark pink motorola flipphone when I was in 5th grade. But my sister decided I didn't need it coz I'm the last born (it was given to me by my aunt)
I just leave mine open unless it's in my pocket. They just released a new one on boost mobile. The performance is outstanding but the crease on the inter screen gets a little annoying sometimes.
@@johnzoid74 yeah no problem, the boost mobile one is some kind of deal. A coworker bought one and I looked at it, seems pretty legit 👍 it's called coach prime razr.

Not saying Motorola is a bad phone but in today's world , consumers have plenty of choices to choose from and I can tell you Motorola is definitely not in their mind
They should be! I've been using the Moto series for 3 phones now (6 years -- G 5+, G 7+, Edge 30) and they're fantastic. New iphones and Samsungs have a ridiculous amount of bells and whistles you pay for, that I'm thinking the "average" person doesn't use to their full potential. Moto phones are great value for "average" people who just want a regular great phone without having to fork out 1k each time.
@nnslg if you are thinking average phone , there are still plenty options right out there that is hot in the market, redmi , oppo, nothing phone , vivo , honor , xiaomi. I believe motorolo still wont able to match. Not hammering , just saying.
Amazing phone! I bought the 2019 razr when it came out and yeah, the speakers are loud, it feels really nice in the hands, the finger print scanner is super quick. I forgot how but I ended up breaking the normal screen so I had to use the small one instead and it works great you can even play old school runescape on it lol! I managed to get it replaced after a few months of using only the small screen and luckily I was sent the 2022/2023(?) version and it's everything plus more. The screen is amazing and has no curve/bump and there is no area for any dust / rocks to get into. The phones unbreakable aswell it's worth the buy!
The reason it failed was because it was silly in the first place. If you bought this silly junk then you're a silly person that doesn't need to be taken seriously for nothing.
I still have my old Razr v3 from like 17 years ago. lol I remember when this came out and was excited but those folding screen and hinges on all makers at the time were terrible. I honestly wish they would bring this one back but as a "dumb phone". I like its design over the newer ones. I'd buy one for nostalgia purposes. 😂
Motorola really let it down with its specs, which at the time of 2019 wasn't the best. wasn't "bad" by any stretch but for one of the first phones incorporating the old technology of foldables into smartphones, and being 1500 dollars at the time, I'd expect it to be the damn flagship of that year, it was just reduced to a cool gimmick that was lucky to last a year. good thing foldable smart phones now are getting better and better.
