I appreciate you Busy Bee. You did great and you're gonna do big things. I can tell.
Thank you for such kind words
This was a very good video. It is a project I am currently working on Scraping is one of those tasks I really do not like. My garage door has 4 sections but one is windows. I've spent 3 hours scraping 2 sections. Its been in the mid 80s to 90s here these last couple days. I don't do this kind of work well in hot weather, so I stop for the day and move on to another task. I do find in the early morning hours I can get in a couple hours. Thanks for reminding me about the Heat Gun to help with removing paint. Never used one before and not sure I am going to purchase yet another tool that I may only need once or twice. But it is nice to be aware of options. It seems as though I get a section done only to discover later that more scraping can be done. Scraping, a job that is never complete!!!!
Scrapping even with a heat gun is no fun
I’m 970 man. Love the channel. Make On Brother!!
Thank you!
Good idea for single layer steel doors, but some doors have an insulating Styrofoam core that can be damaged by the heat gun.
The only bit of this process I was interested in was the priming. And that's the only bit you didn't deal with 🙈😄
Once the surface is clean and dry just spray one coat of primer just like you would the paint. Hopefully this helps.
@@BusyBeeLiving does it matter if oil or water based
How long did it take you from start to finish?
Altogether it took two days. First day was scraping, cleaning, and then primer. Second day was two coats of paint. Would have been quicker but need to wait for the dry times between the coats.
What type of paint did you use?
Sherwin Williams Resilience
@@BusyBeeLiving Thank you!
Why not pressure wash it off ? 3k or4 k
You could use a power washer, I felt that the clean up with using the heat gun would be easier for myself. Also, the heat gun did a really nice job of loosing the paint.
I will try to do it with Woodglut plans.
Is that under all metal garage doors?
Mine would look better as just the the plain galvanized. I was so happy, thinking that’s what you were doing!
Mine are an ugly off white/cream and all gals sized would look great with the mortar of the brick and the new roof I have.
Dang, wish I could’ve seen them complexity stripped!
I’m not sure 🤷♂️
