Thanks for the videos. I would guess that the orange paint is to identify what tools are yours when you are with other worker. I grew up with a family of carpenters and we all had our own color so when we picked up tools at the end of the day it was easy to keep them straight. Dad was yellow, uncle was blue and when I got old enough that I had to pay for my own tools I painted them Red. I caught my uncle painting blue over my Red tool once. Thanks for the painting tips. I will try the Mad Dog primer.
Awesome vid, thanks for the tips. My guess is that the orange is to identify tools that belong to your company so that employees, other trades, etc don't have any question about who's is who's.
Orange paint, is to know what vehicle it belongs in. When you have multiple vehicles on site. You want to put every tool back into it's designated vehicle or tool box.
2 thoughts with the orange paint. 1) To identify the tool as yours 2) to clearly mark the edge of the tool to remind you not to put your fingers anywhere near the spinning disc.
I used a paint eater and followed up with a palm sanders and primed with this triple thick primer because i wanted it to build up past any roughness left behind . This triple thick primer poured out of the gallon real thick but when i started priming , it went on extremely thin ..lol I hope the peel stop part works , because the build up part didn't work well at all . It felt like i was priming with wallpaper paste .
You know they are yours , also helps seeing them at a distance on job site.Worked with a guy that use to paint his tools pink lol. Love watching your vids. I am HVAC tech. but have to repair walls and paint sometimes.
good videos but you should always always always use a drop cloth under you before scraping to catch the peelings and dust. then you always use an empty gallon pot as a workp[ot to us4e brush with out dipping into a full gallon, it could spillover and cost u money and time, i been painting for 15 years commercially and residentially, I enjoy your channel, keep up the good work, im from the south
The Orange paint tells which vehicle the tool belongs too so if you have more than one crew on site the vans stay properly organized. Tyler from Meridian here thanks so much for all your videos each one helps make me more of a professional. All Panes window Cleaning Painting & Pressure Washing LLC
This mad dog primer looks fantastic, you don't have to fill where you have taken the flakey paint off. I wish this product were available in my country.
Hahahaha! 😂😄🙌 Love the out takes. The Orange is your marketing for your tools. I'm sure it serves a dual purpose of helping locate misplaced tools as well.
Just as you traveled to paint Wrangler Star's barn, you have been on the road across I-40 East to Tennessee where you have had several jobs painting UT bill boards.
Love the video Chris, orange paint on tools and equipment is most likely to identify item's belonging to your company and the item's used on exterior latex projects. Cheers and Peace to Paint Life.
Orange paint to identify YOUR tools. Great videos! Great instruction! Certainly have provided me with the confidence that what I am doing is how the pro does it.
The orange paint is either for marking your tools so you know they're yours, or you got them on as a open box special from Home Depot and they tagged it orange to prevent returns.
What is the type of siding on this house? Doesn’t look like wood. I always learn something watching your informative and very helpful videos. Thanks so much.
Was really hoping this would have covered interior... Great vid as always though! My parents have some major peeling on their bathroom ceiling... Im assuming in the 28 yrs since building the house, a bathroom fan was never installed, which is probably the reason it has peeled so bad! I really want to help them fix it, but never seen the process done, and UA-cam doesnt really have any good vids covering this... Any chance you come across this situation? If so, would you consider doing a video on how to properly prep and paint a ceiling that has such bad peeling? Thanks Chris
The reason to you mark tools and brushes orange could be the tools marked orange are used on oil based paints, or vice versa and used on waterbased paints
I would say the orange paint is to help identify or group a set of tools needed to do a certain task. that way you know you brought everything you might need for a given task without having to lug around more than necessary.
Hey bro. I think you have orange paint on your tools so you can spot them more easily on the ground, and maybe identify from others' tools, who may have a different color. I'm a pro painter here in ME and would love a shirt. I've been checking out all your videos and find your tips and hacks very helpful.
I would be covered in caulk spots first of all, and I'd had to have a tarp because I am not very clean when it comes to brush painting - Trying to learn to be a little less messy. :)
Helps Categorize job specific tools for certain types of painting jobs? Or helps identifying the tool / brush when working in a area with multiple people or projects going on at once.
For the orange 🍊 on the paint eater because you wanted to see if your viewer are paying attention. I am !!! Great advise also doing my projects rite now love the videos!!!
Learned a lot from your vids. My guess why you have orange paint on your tools: helps identify and distinguish your tools from others’ who might be on the site. Amirightenough for a shirt?
Love the videos, Chris! I really appreciate them. Can Mad Dog be used on interior trim that will be top coated with a semi-gloss or gloss? If not, do you know of any products that would work? What about Sherwin Williams PrimeRX? Thanks for your time!
I'd love a t shirt tho! Live painting been painting the last few years. Just bought a graco handheld cordless Tc pro sprayer brand new for 200 bucks at lowes. They mis marked it!
You have orange paint on your tools so you know which ones are yours. I do the same thing. One other thing I do is spray paint all the corners of my drops with different colors so I know which ones are way. Example 12x15 drops have black corners, 9x12 have orange and all my runners have fluorescent green 🤷🏻♂️ thanks and keep up the good work ✌🏻
Well done, sir! Now let's get to the guessing about the orange paint. Looks like an accidental spill on your tool from a can of paint that was not properly capped. T-shirt size M please:)
Orange is a) your signature and b) helper to locate tool. PS could you do some close up shots of the work, cause well .... Oh, c) orange is the new black. or oh! d) fluorescent paint allow you to work at night. I give up :\ unless painterslife is blue/orange, but it looks more red than orng.
The orange paint is to identify your tools from others ie if two companies are working on the same job and also to prevent theft also maybe you have certain areas for each took Orange painting green maybe power washing
Danny Hensley thats what I was thinking to. I do something similar to all my brushes, 5 in 1, and the rest of my hand tools I have in my box. Its sad when you work with people that you don't trust. I have had many brushes etc go missing. So now I have a special mark on all my tools plus a 2nd mark to identify whats mine.
@@Idahopainter btw, I just bought and used a paint eater with your recommendation for a job, and Sherwinn Williams PrimerRX Peel Bonder. I'm going top coat it tomorrow, but I think it'll look great!
Prob don’t read comments in older vids. I do t know how to pm you on utube or contact you. But we bought a house while back years ago. We are redoing 1 room at a time, my existing problems are, I like my work to look like a pro did it, or as close to new as possible, no sloppy work, go that extra mile, it shows in the long run. All the entry ways & door way trim which is stained and only coated, has a lot of old yellowish paint around and up the edge, and makes my work look like shit, who ever painted this obviously threw it on , they didn’t use tape whatsoever on the edges. It up the sides and around every damn door trim. I changed colors to a grey blue wall and you can see the white outline all way around doors trim looks horrible, I’ve tried to remove it with solvents but doesn’t work tried sanding, will take a year to do it. Going now to buy a tube of white caulk going to try and put some sort of coverage on it and tape it off maybe. Least a white straight line would look better than what’s on it now any help greatly appreciated , short cuts or just how to properly caulk around door frames thanks
How long will that last, and what if it peels the next year? I did a badly kept garage door with fiberglass and other fillers to smooth it out most the paint still looks good ecpt along the bottom rail of the 16x7 wood door. That bubbled up and cracked the first year. A pro painter did it once the whole pain job he did didnt last a year. I put 3 coats of paint 2 coats of primer and sanded between coats I even removed all the weather striping and bottom bump guard. Im about to give up and cover it in plastic. Maybe an epoxy paint and treat the wood with a petrified chemical you use to treat rotting wood to repair it. Or fiberglass resian on the whole bottom board. This should have be treated wood or cedar. But I belive its a pine type wood. Even ash or popular would have been a better choice.
You color code your tools based on the toolboxes or area they belong in; eg, two toolboxes with similar contents have different colors like orange and green. I keep thinking it's a Six Sigma type of thing. it helps insure things are returned to the right spot especially when you have multiple of the same tool.
The paint identifies your tools, could be to identify them as yours for your own personal marker so that your employees know they are yours or it could be identified for entire business if working on job sites that would require more then one company painting. He travels nationwide and locally so we have spent our fair share of replacing tools that gerbil left behind or picked up by mistake. Hi my friend no worries I did the same mistakes when I try to speak English I'm undertook what you want to said I'm from Colombia use to do the same thanks.
Means it was a Home Depot tool maybe a display or a return and you bought it used? I used to be a vendor for home depot and they did that on windex, pliers, power tools etc... so they can spot if someone is taking their property.

You have several people on your team. Each has a separate color so each person takes responsibility for the quality of his tools.
The orange paint is to identify the tools you own. Helpful to avoid confusion on large job sites with multiple workers.
Hey Chris thanks for the reply
Much appreciated
Keep up the good work
So you know that they are yours and hard to pawn, I usethe same color. Great videos!!

Orange paint on tool tells you it goes in the storage bin marked with orange - which could also mean exterior tools

Not quite
The orange could show those tools are worked with individual painter. Each laborer uses and takes care of his own company tools.
So close
In addition to marking the tool as yours, does the orange paint indicate that you purchased the tool at Home Depot?
I know I’m a little late to the party, but I’m thinking the orange paint on sander AND your brush is for your Mad Dog primer only?
To mark your tools in case stolen or someone might have thebsame tools as you and you want to make sure there is mixup
Orange is what you paint the tools you use for oil based paints
So its easier to identify them in the van
The color identifies what kind of work its for, like exterior prep
Not quite!
great job! how do you paint the side of door. would it increase the door size and make it difficult to close the door?
It does, but it is usually not a problem
I'm in the deep South so my question is it better for me to order mad dog than buying the stop peel kilz that is local? great job again
