    Thanks again for taking us along on the journey. Well done in my opinion. I just don't see how any meaningful contaminates could have possibly entered the assembly the way you did it. I'm waiting to share in your success when the spindle gets reinstalled and you can smile again letting the machine do what it's supposed to do! Keep up the good work my friend!

      Hi
      Thank you.
      It should'nt get anything too bad in it as you say but plenty of people it seems will disagree from what i have seen and read on other spindle builds on youtube and various forums. a clean room would be lovely but my workshop is just an everyday workshop so we work with what we have
      After all this i hope it actually works and solves my sticking tool issues and hopefully vibration issues too, or il look like a right t*at lol

      Not only you have crossed fingers. :) Just got that vms560/16 in my workshop too. It is semi bed mill. Z is with bed style, X and Y - linear bearings. But twin rows. Different style to haas. Still cleaning. Third bucket of chips removed :) @@kinzy_fabrications

      @StanislavZachazevski 10 місяців тому +1

      Yes. took it for retrofit - but except spindle drive fault, it is in fully working order. Will try to use vintage tnc 407 controller. As far as i can say now - it is much simpler, compared to haas. But hard / out of support of course. @@kinzy_fabrications

      The older bridgeports are very sturdy rigid machines if the box ways are in good condition, much better rigidity than a linear rail Haas in my experiance. my landlord has 2 of the bridgeports, a 560/16 and an 760/20

    You are brave doing this on camera - it's appreciated. The time when things go wrong for me are when also trying to video. There's excellent clarity of both sound and lighting in your recording. The camera refocuses quickly - what are you using?

    Have ever replaced spindle encoder. And rewound spindle motor.

    • @kinzy_fabrications
      @kinzy_fabrications  4 місяці тому

      Hi
      The spindle encoder on my machines i have removed and cleaned and re fitted which means you have to then re set the spindle orientation
      As for re winding a motor, NO i would definitely be sending that out to a motor re build company to do

    • @manjeetsondh
      @manjeetsondh 4 місяці тому +1

      @@kinzy_fabrications my question was have you ever replaced the encoder with new one. My encoder is giving problems i.e. on high speed it looses pulse and machine is stopped. The price of the original encoder from company is very high as compared to encoders available in open market. There are encoders in the open market but what is special in the original encoder.
      Original encoder is 1000 usd
      Market encoder is 100 usd

    Did you put grease in those bearings?? They look completely empty. Some bearings come with grease, some you have to add the grease yourself - those look like the ones you have to add grease to... and the right Kluber NBU 15 grease of course. Check Rob Renzeti's spindle rebuild video where he re-distributes the grease in his pre-greased bearings. I know you don't want to overfill them, but yours look completely empty in comparison

    • @kinzy_fabrications
      @kinzy_fabrications  10 місяців тому +3

      No i did not add any grease as the spindle is lubricated by oil/air mist continuously, it is not a greased bearing set up
      So when the spindle break in program is done which i think is 6 to 8 hours it starts off around 500rpm for an hour and that should allow plenty of the oil/air mist to lube the bearings before they see any real speed
      There is an opening in the top cap for a small 1/8-27 npt fitting that supplies the oil/air mist from the very top so it runs through both sets of bearings and out the bottom of the spindle nose
      Thats why on these older Haas you will or should always see oil on the table under the spindle after its been left a while as the oil runs out

  • @georgecypher4568
    @georgecypher4568 10 місяців тому +1

    Is there not a specific amount of lube/grease that each bearing is supposed to be injected with before the spindle get assembled into the machine ?
    Just curious ?
    Did you really use WD40 like you said when you put the first set of bearings onto the lower portion of the shaft ?

    • @kinzy_fabrications
      @kinzy_fabrications  10 місяців тому

      The spindle/bearings in the earlier Haas machines like this are lubricated by a continous air/oil mist system so that's where they will get the lubrication from rather than a grease packed bearing set up, later down the line Haas did move to a grease packed spindle set up
      And yes i did rub a bit of wd40 on the inner race before i pressed it over the spindle shaft as thats what i had to hand
      Thanks
      Marc

    • @gorak9000
      @gorak9000 10 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing - those bearings do NOT look pre-greased. I have a new set of bearings for my spindle as well, and grease definitely needs to be added to them before you assemble them onto the spindle. I hope that isn't a big "oops"... the lube on the bearings when pressing them is to prevent corrosion or fretting, but I sure wouldn't use wd40 for that - I'd use a very thin coat of CMD extreme pressure lube #3 like Rob Renzeti recommends in his spindle rebuild video for that

      @@gorak9000 I watched the video that Rob did on the spindle rebuild he did and that guy was super duper specific reven down to what type of cloth to use to prevent dust , and then it came down to the lube being injected into the bearings with a small hypodermic needle ..... This guy here looks like a backyard spindle rebuilder ..lol

      You are 100% correct sir, i am a backyard spindle rebuilder as i state myself in the video
      As mentioned above these Haas spindles are oil fed and not grease packed which is why i did not grease them
