Why oh why are cellphone manufacturers NOT including a charger?! Given I own a Note 10, I may be able to reuse the charger since it's USB-C to USB-C if it lasts long enough, but a person who's upgrading for the first time is automatically forced to either buy the charger or a wireless charging pad with no other options, other than having a very expensive paperweight. Cheers!
8:48 Yes you can! Samsung did it since the Galaxy S8 and Note8. All S and Note phones since then have dual sim hardware, but single sim software. I flashed a second imei to my Note8 by using chimeratool, and i had working dual sim on a single sim note8. I just needed to replace the sim card holder so a second sim would fit instead of the SD Card
I wonder if this phone's battery has more glue than the battery of the Surface Pro 3... Either way, great video, great to see that the S21 is repairable with no software locks. I still won't be buying it as there is no SD card, no headphone jack, and the screen is down from 1440p to 1080p. It's a flagship phone; it should be having a 1440p screen considering that my old Galaxy S7 Edge and S9+ phones both had 1440p.
Although yes Samsung also removed their power adapter, every series of the S20 came with a USB C adapter so it’s not as bad as when apple only shipped it with their Pro model iPhone 11 and gave you the regular one for the standard 11, then taking it away leaving people screwed. I still don’t like this idea of not selling the chargers tho lol
Not that I'm trying to defend Samsung's decision if any but here in the Philippines when your phone's display is having problem (burn in, dead pixels or even broken screen) or the ultrasonic in screen fingerprint sensor is having problems Samsung just repairs the entire display and even offers FREE BATTERY REPLACEMENT (given that the unit is a flagship Samsung phone and has been purchased locally from approved retailers and first party Samsung stores here in the Philippines) for such problems. Sure it could be a little bit costlier but compare to Apple's repair programme here in the Philippines as well as being able to save oneself from the inconvenience of repairing phones with aftermarket/non-Samsung approved components is just a benefit that I totally wouldn't change for the world. Although TBH I am ONE with Hugh when he said I would rather have a charger out of the box than a free wireless headphones. Although wireless buds/headphones is a nice addition to the package I totally agree that the charger is much more necessary and significant compare to a pair of wireless headphones. And the removal of the microSD card slot in the S21 series is totally an unwelcome change for many power users like me who had the said feature on a Samsung phone for like FOREVER. Samsung had many weird marketing decisions that not only affected users like me but quite inexplicable in terms of logical sense.

Plastic back, No SD card slot, no headphone jack and 1080p display. 5 years ago this would have been a $400 midrange phone. I mean the SoC is a high end one, but by now they have made those octa cores for 6 years or so, so at this point they should be ultra cheap to produce and qualcomm probably just artificially keeps the prices high.
@@Tom2404 some of that could hold some truth but processor manufacturers also aim to make thinner and thinner nm. Both increasing manufacturing cost and performance.
The reason why chipset are still expensive is because they always improve it, gives new features if they can, then try to make it smaller each year. Which is not easy. This is why most mid-range chipset stays the same manufacturing size before it reached flagship's size. Because it's new that it's not easy. Also they need to test the chipset and make sure there is no problem. Honestly I don't think S21 is that bad, yeah the lack of dual sim is what worried me (but I heard that other countries variant support dual sim, indonesia included). I always used two sims, one for internet and one for account. For storage.. i think that's enough, you probably won't reached the storage limit anyway. If you're a people who will take extra high quality photos/videos, you should probably get S21 Ultra because of the camera. And I believe S21 Ultra have SD Card (might differ from different countries).

Although Samsung is doing those "Apple things," it does not mean they are copycats and worse than Apple. Samsung is directly competing with Apple as a way to be better from a technology standpoint.
@@DistrosProjects Yeah, I agree, copying Apple's terrible anti-consumer decisions but won't copy the things that actually make Apple and their products relevant and viable. @@DistrosProjects to be fair they added a third year of software feature support starting with the s20 line instead of just 2 years so that was a step in the right direction. but I agree, if they wanna compete for the same kind of customer they need to get some more of their features. They need to put chargers back in the box. Not including a charger only worsens the environment by shipping two boxes (that could be in different vehicles) but also shows how cheap these companies are by raising the prices while removing items necessary to use your phone. It’s a shame.
If they're going to follow Apple, why don't they also follow Apple's good things, that make their products relevant and viable? Samsung's strategy here is so shitty.
It's nice to see they're finally moving away from the curved glass. There's always a glare and you can never find a screen protector to fit the whole screen that isn't plastic. I end up just going without one.

Thank you for not whining about plastic. I also prefer plastic as it's better for repair, doesn't shatter, still allows wireless charging, is more ergonomic and still feels nice in the hand.
I don't like glossy plastic because it scratches instantly but this phone has a matt plastic which is fantastic.

they did locking their A series fingerprint, because of that fingerprint are cheap and easy to hack..
it's different than ultrasonic one.
ultrasonic has its own chip built into the scanner.
that's why samsung locking all of their devices with "optical" finger scanner not the ultrasonic one.
but the fingerprint sensor wasnt even changed, it was the display that was changed that caused the problems. So how would locking fingerprint when you replace the screen help with the security?
@@leansnscenes7806 Idk.. I think the real reason you have calibrate the scanner to match that display is both screen and scanner works together, not individual.
considering it's impossible to repair ultrasonic scanner without buying new display that has scanner built-in, it's already tested and calibrated so both panel and scanner work together perfectly.🤷♂️
I state that just because how easily optical can be hacked only by a picture, cuz it just using camera rather than ultrasound.
@@dh-pf6re you're wrong, if you flash the firmware of the device the fingerprint scanner works correctly. Hugh made the mistake of factory resetting but not installing stock firmware alongside the factory reset.

I prefer a metal back, like those found on the iPads. Those are great. Plastic is a close second. I abhor glass anything. It's fragile. Way too fragile. Metal feels awesome in the hand though.
The modules and component design in this phone is really beautiful and easy to replace. Nice.
3:41 I mean if you use plastic, why don't go back to 2015 with removable batteries
Because time machines don't exist unfortunately.
then 4000mah will be left 3500mah
Water resistance will less reliable/more expensive to make, battery capacity will drop pretty significantly, more chances of damage since some randos can poke around in the phone when they don't know what they're doing and a whole slew of other reasons.

As another commenter said, I would be worried that they decide to add it in a software update, like with the A51, maybe high should do an update video in a few months if they do?

@@brennont9724 I'm surprised people still think it as a software lock. That fp scanner on a51 was an optical one which can loose it's calibration once removed.

Honestly, I don’t like the s21. I personally like glass and the fact they removed the memory card slot is ridiculous
@@DistrosProjects to be fair they added a third year of software feature support starting with the s20 line instead of just 2 years so that was a step in the right direction. but I agree, if they wanna compete for the same kind of customer they need to get some more of their features.
