It's so sad that this channel is so much underrated despite the fact that he is doing awesome job unlike others.
I wish you to have million subscribers.
Keep up the work bro! Wish you best luck
Thank you, I appreciate it :) Hopefully one day.
You saved me $200 with this video. Had a disconnected display connector after dropping my phone. This made it so easy for me to find and reconnect it. Thank you!
Glad it was of help! You're welcome
Jheeze 😂 you’re first
haha thanks :)
Lol
😳 First S21 teardown in the world I think 🤔
Congratulations bro 👏🏻👍🏻
Thank you! :)
This video is great. I love how you show us everything you're doing but in a fast and informative way. You didn't waste time on anything or go on about stuff we don't need to know. You just show us what to do and tell us what it is and move on. Now I can try to replace my sim card reader myself instead of spending nearly $100 on an insurance claim. Thank you!
Thanks! Here is a link where you can purchase the sub board (which has the sim reader on it). Keep in mind there are multiple versions of it, depending on which region device you have (since they have different antenna contacts on them). www.mobilesentrix.com/replacement-parts/samsung/galaxy-s-series/galaxy-s21
Glad you did a teardown vid of the S21 before Jerryrigeverything hehe! Never knew the camera housing is part of the rear back plate.
Ya, I thought it was part of the frame until I took it apart. :)

Very nice teardown! Actually helped me with my anxiety from accidentally poking the microphone hole with the sim eject tool lol (from my S21 Ultra), I guess you can't damage neither the microphone itself nor the water resistance from poking into the mic hole, since it's perpendicular to the hole in the frame... anyway, thumbs up for the video!
Thanks! Glad it was of help. Yes correct, it wont be damaged.
P
How can you get that wrong you can tell what hole it is. If its sim try hole it ne on the actual sim try. If it's a microphone hole it will be next to the tray.
@@ashleybishton742 I know I know, but in my case it was late at night and I was tired af and I just poked into the wrong hole, what can I say 🤷😂
@@ashleybishton742 i got it wrong too one time
Excellent video! I have dropped my phone countless times, this time the flexible cable for the screen completely dislodged itself, with your video I reconnected it and my phone is working again! Only thing I found hard was taking the backplate off (used a hairdryer), another video showed using a stanley knife first to create a gap, then I used the little plastic tool to continue. Thanks!
Thanks. Yeah usually best to use a suction cup tool or something else to gain some leverage but the reason I don't show or suggest using a knife or anything metal is that it will damage or scratch up the frame.
If Im not mistaken s21 has two way speaker? As in two loud speaker
Ya there is one on top and one on bottom
@@PBKreviews okay thanks. Good for sorround and reverb sounds.
You're welcome
The way the battery is glued to the frame is just infamous
Yep, Samsung always seems to do that not sure why. Motorola is like that too.
Is the camera lens glued to the rear panel like always? or is it 1 piece of glass? Like are they replacable individually?
Each circle glass lens cover are separate and are replaceable separately. They are held down with adhesive (double sided tape) to the metal rectangular frame they sit in.
Oh wow seriously?
and then that metal part can be detached from the glasstic/glass back?
the metal frame around the camera lens is like a face plate. Goes over the back plate and held on with adhesive.
@@PBKreviews Over or under the backplate? like is it glued behind the glass like previous models?
BTW; are you planning for a S21 ultra teardown?
It looks to be a plate over the back plate, but there is an under frame assembly for it as well which seats around the cameras just like every other back plate for phones. However I don't think they are glued together. Just some adhesive holding the top layer (metal camera overlay) over the back plate itself. Yes I'm planning on doing the ultra as well, stay tuned.
Accidentally I inserted SIM ejector tool inside the S21 Ultra microphone hole. I also applied some force in an effort to push out the tray. Although, the phone is working OK so far. Did I break something inside? Microphone / Mesh / Water protection. Kindly clear my doubts.
Thanks!
You will be fine, the mic and filter sit above the hole.
@@PBKreviews thank you very much

Lol ya, plastic backs have their benefits. Now if only they could incorporate a adhesive pull tab for glass backs... That would be something.
My new go to teardown channel, zack is always very late lmao.
Thanks, I appreciate the support :)
zack is late because I guess legally you can't teardown a phone/device that's not released for public yet or unless you have permission/rights from the manufacturer itself and in this way I don't know if this guy has rights/permission or samsung can choose to take action.
Though I appreciate an early teardown.
@@Jatin878 I don't think zack cares. Hes not afraid of them :). Also the phone has been announced already and is already in the hands of a lot of people.
@@PBKreviews yes sir I know phone is announced and are in lot of "reviewer's" hand. But what I meant is public release and available to purchase in market. And you'll see there will be teardown and durability videos after public release.
Then again I do appreciate your early teardown video and very much liked it too.
@@Jatin878 Yes I know what you mean, I'm just saying that once its been officially announced and design has been revealed, and the phone is in reviewer hands, unless its a review unit provided by Samsung themselves then they wont really have a restriction placed over it. If its a phone Samsung directly sends to a reviewer then the reviewer would have to abide by the rules set by Samsung. So ya if for example as you said if someone were to purchase the phone at retail, they would be able to do what they want with it. But if the phone has not been officially announced, and it is not suppose to be in anyone's hands yet, then it would be an issue. :) Thanks for the like, glad you enjoyed the video.
The S21 has a circle vibrator and S21 Ultra has square vibrator like the S20 and Note10. How does the vibration feel on the small S21? Does it feel like haptic or just normal vibration?
The s21 vibrator feels more strong all around the phone and is a long straight vibration while the 21 ultra is more like a haptic feedback burst of vibrations as if your clicking on something.
How did you remove the antenna screws? They're much tighter than the other screws.
Try pushing down on them a bit as you try to unscrew them.
@@PBKreviews I've tried that, but they don't seem to budge and I've only been damaging the screw and my screwdriver.
Thnx for the video. My camera focus is broken. The image is vibrating. Do you know where and which back camera module I need to buy? I have SM-G991B/DS
Your awesome. Thank you I was able to fix what was wrong one of the connectors got disconnected when I dropped my phone. Yay YOU ROCK. HAPPY MONDAY

is it possible to break a water ressistance putting a sim ejector in micro holes on the top ? i did it and when i blow to sim slot air goes off of the mic I put this sim ejector...

The main board double stacked or not?
And seems iso probil alcohol not helps anymore about battery removing
Thanks
Thank you! Main board is double stacked and you can use isopropyl alcohol but it gets messy sometimes and you dont want it to get in places it shouldn't go so I try not using it. For example I wouldn't want it going through an opening like where the opening for the fingerprint reader is attached to the screen underneath the battery.
Great video. Guess there won't be a big number of DIY battery replacers.
Thanks!
Thanks for this video! I found it when looking for a way to see how the mic on the bottom is built, because I accidentally poked in there with a paperclip to open the sim card slot 🤦🏻♀️. I've read that some phones have an L-shaped entry to the actual microphone so was hoping this was the case with the S21 so that I couldn't have done any damage. Do you know if the entry to the mic is curved or straight? Thanks in advance, it would mean a lot!
Hi, you're welcome. Ya you have nothing to worry about. The mic sits above the hole and so does the filter for the mic, so you wont damage it.

For most of you having a blank screen and when doing the force restart (hold down power button and volume down) and if the phone vibrates as it would when turning on, its 99% loose connector for the LCD display.
Also, you dont need to peel down the graphite film from the bottom speaker, you just take out everything in one piece. Also ty for the vid

I just watched someone else teardown on the same phone. I didn't see any 5g antenna removed on the side like you did. What model are you on?
The one I took apart was one from the USA region which supports mmWave 5G on top of the standard 5G support for sub-6ghz 5G. So those antenna I removed were the mmWave 5G antenna for the networks in the USA which make use of those additional antenna.

Thanks for the teardown repair video. I have a question 🙋🏻♂️ does the top loudspeaker work as the earpiece as well? Because mine top speaker isn't working. So I'm wondering if they come under one piece to change to two separate parts. THANKS
You're welcome. Yes the top on is the earpiece speaker as well.
@@PBKreviews appreciate your answer. any idea where to get a replacement? mine stopped working
@@mohawahba ya you can search on ebay or amazon for galaxy s21 speaker replacement and you will see some listings for them.
The phone isn't even out yet. How did you get the retail version so quick?
You should use isopropyl alcohol for loosen up the battery next time.
Sometimes I get lucky and I'm able to get things a little earlier. Ya I had to use isopropyl alcohol on the s21 ultra, the battery on that was much more difficult prying off.
Learned my lesson the hard way on that one with an LG
Bellow the battery there's a hole for the fingerprint sensor, if you pour alcohol there's a good chance it will get in and ruin it. From now on, only prying for me!
New subscriber here. I'm a fan. Very straightforward presentation
Thanks!
Thanks for the great video. I wanted to ask if you insert the sim tool into the bottom mic hole, straight in, with enough force to eject the sim tray, will that damage the gasket or puncture anything inside the mic hole?

So, graphene cooling in the SD variant is better than the copper cooling in the Exynos variant right? Or did they change Exynos variant cooling system?
Graphene seems to do just as well if not better, and also last longer. The vapors in the copper chamber can evaporate over time and not provide as well of a cooling, but graphene well always stay constant. I'm not sure yet if the Exynos version has any different cooling this time around, but we will see shortly.

@PBKreviews dude I have a question. I accidentally tried to pull out the SIM CARD SLOT but at the microphone's hole. Is there any risk about losing ip68???

What is below the flash and left of the speaker balls ? Is it some kind of sensor, there is also some kind of windows on the cover below the flash difuser
Its a hole that would be used by an additional microphone, possibly the + or ultra make use of it. We will see soon. :)
I accidentally give a big hit on my s21, on the top right corner, something feels lost, when shaking the phone. I think is the vibrator motor, because is in the same spot. Everything looks working fine, nothing damage. I`m a little worried. :/ 1 month using it
Its normal to here a little rattle inside from the camera, since they have slight movement. It's probably just that, that you are hearing.
Do you know if the Exynos version come with bluetooth 5.2? Thank you
Yes 5.2
You are greatest teardown now. I like this video. And s21 earpiece speaker size is greater. That I love it 🤩
Thank you :)
I know that when you insert the sim tool through the hole of the microphone it will not be damaged, but could you explain if there is something in the hole and also what it hits at the end when you insert the tool, clearly something feels that there is inside of the hole.
There is a mesh filter that helps keep dust out, you might be poking that.
@@PBKreviews so something can be damaged when inserting the tool, let's say we could damage that dust filter, am I correct? It really is frustrating that no one on the entire internet can give a clear explanation about the subject and it is not the only model with which this happens.
Hope you can help please! One night I accidentally put the Sim ejector tool into the bottom microphone hole. Felt like something gave way. I'd like to know if any water resistant material has been damaged. I tried one of those Water-Risistance tool apps and it says it didn't find issues, but not sure if those bogus apps or not. Looking for solid opinion from an expert (you)! Thx
Hi, you should be fine, both the filter and mic sit above the hole.
@@PBKreviews That's a relief! What do you think was providing the resistance I felt with the tool when pushing it?
When did you receive this phone? Because the in-store models of the s21 are actually glass...?
The S21+ and S21 Ultra have the glass back, but the S21 has a plastic back.
@@PBKreviews I hear what you are saying. However, seeing the models in the store, the specs say it's glass... so....

Where can you find the S21 5g digitizer/screen for diy repair? Just the regular not the + or ultra.
www.mobiledefenders.com/samsung-repair-parts/galaxy-s-series/galaxy-s21-5g.html
@PBKreviews does the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G have a Vapour Cooling Chamber inside it, or does the Smartphone have any sort of Cooling System inside it?
I'm sure it has a cooling system, just not sure what it is yet, would have to take one apart first to see.
Hello PBKreviews, i hope you can help me with my question. I´m confused right now. I put the simtool in bad light conditions into the microphone hole and pushed a little hard (European S21 5G Version). I was shocked about myself.....could it be that i damaged something or damaged water proofnes in any way? As i see in the vid, i maybe pushed again the small plastic inlay, right? Is there a hole inside this inlay?
Hi, no you should be fine, the mic sits above the hole and so does the filter.
@@PBKreviews Thank you so much. So all i pushed against was that plastic L tunnel inlay underneath the mic, right?
We are waiting for S21 Ultra Love from India
Hi, thank you. Hopefully really soon :)
How easy it is to damage the bottom mic if a SIM tool is accidentally stuck in it? There has been a lot of discussion about the mic hole being right next to the SIM tray. Many people have stuck SIM ejection tools in the mic hole. The consensus seems to be that there should be no damage.
The filter sits above the hole as well so should not get damaged.
@@PBKreviews Awesome, thank you sir!
Can a dent or deep scratch on the antenna lines cause drop of signal?
Are you referring to those on the frame of the phone itself? I mean it's possible but they use more than one antenna line so it would pic up signal from different angles and positions so I doubt if one was scratched up or dinged up that it would cause to big an effect.
@@PBKreviews yes to the frame itself the plastic antenna lines
How does haptic feedback feel on this phone? (considering that it has a coin style vibration motor)

What size are the phillips screws in this phone?
a 1.5x25mm philips screw driver should work fine.
@@PBKreviews 0000 was the smallest that came in my repair kit and fortunately that worked. Very helpful and informative. Thanks for taking the time to make this and share the information with others. As usual, a new project calls for more tools! Now I have more new tools, you can never have too many, ha!!!
Will you do a teardown of the ultra?
Just uploaded it
Thanks a lot!
I am not sure if you'd be able to read and reply.
The LCD screen of my S21 is broken and I have got a replacement.
My questions:
1. Do I have to remove the battery and antenna (using tri-wing)/as well to replace the LCD digitizer?
2. Would you be able to recommend any glue.
3. How much temperature and time to heat the frame to remove the LCD screen.
A quick reply will be highly appreciated.
Is it just the screen by itself or is it a screen with frame combo? If its just the screen, you can try (even though it might be difficult) to heat up just the screen and pry it off the frame being careful to disconnect the flex cable on the bottom while lifting it up so it doesn't tear. Then apply new adhesive and re apply the new screen seating it perfectly so the cable connects when your pressing down on the screen to adhere it to the frame since it doesn't have wiggle room for it to be pulled out to attach to the screen prior to seating it on the frame. But if you disassemble the phone as shown in the video, would be easier but more work. If its a screen frame combo, then you just do whats shown in the video and move all your parts from one frame to the other. You can find the adhesive made for this phone as well as other parts on this website: www.mobiledefenders.com/samsung-repair-parts/galaxy-s-series/galaxy-s21-5g.html? As for the heat, you can use a hair dryer and evenly apply heat until its hot to the touch, and can continue to add more heat as needed while your trying to pry off the front/back. Front will be more difficult than the back.
Is it still waterproof even without sealing the back with glue?
Which version is this phone?
Because I have the Korean version which has a single nano SIM card tray without an eSIM, and I was wondering if it 's possible to change the SIM tray, maybe it'll work!
This was a US version and just replacing the sim tray won't work since the software has it disabled as well. You would need to flash a version of the firmware to the phone which has it enabled.
does the international version has mmwave ??
I don't think the international variant will have the mmwave but I'm not sure. Possible there may be a version that does for international and one that doesn't.
wasnt the camera hump part of the metal frame???? how did it came apart??
The metal portion is a face plate sitting over the back plate/battery door. So its layer over the back plate. It's not connected to the frame of the phone.
@@PBKreviews you think thats the case only with the s21cz is plastic or same for s21 ultra ? just asking cz bloggers make such a big deal about it
I'm pretty sure it will be the same. Making that portion part of the frame itself would make the design more difficult to work with overall. Placing parts in or doing repairs would be more complicated both for them and for end users. We will see soon.
You must have been at Samsung's front door!
👍
lmao
How did you got this fast... amazing 🔥
Thanks! :)
So is it copper or graphite cooling?
has a 3D graphene layer for cooling
Is that lens part is made of metal or plastic?
The boarder/overlay is metal covering the camera lens
Is this a US version or international?
This S21 was a US version, but the S21 Ultra we took apart was an international variant.
The foam balls are not there to allow air to come in. They increase the surface area inside the speaker box and make the speaker sound bigger than it is.
Nice!
Thanks!
I have a question: My sim card reader does not work anymore, it reads no sim tried a couple. Do you think someone who is a little bit technical could fix this? Thanks
Yea, the sub board which has the sim reader on it would need to be replaced. Most repair shops would be able to do it, as well as anyone who has any experience with phone repairs etc. Not too difficult to do.
Who is here after watching lewis later clips!!
That back plate is really flexible
yup
what size are the screws
You can use a 1.5x25mm Philips screw driver. Usually most smartphone Philips screw drivers would work.
I think the lenses with OIS are the normal and the telephoto cameras, and the top one is thw ultra-wide
Ya I think you're right. I must have said it incorrectly. I will try and edit it out of the video.
🔵Hey, BIG 👉THANKS👈 man 👍😆😎✅
Just a battery replace, thought I should check first.!
why do snapdragon versions have mm antennas and exynos versions doe not?
Because Verizon in the US uses mmwave 5G and the snapdragon versions are the US variants so that's why they include them so people can use them on Verizon as well. I believe there is an international exynos version with the mmwave antennas as well, not sure which region it was for though, might be the UAE version.
Waiting for Galaxy s21 ultra 5G teardown

What you think about battery life on s21?
what if you want to compare it with s20 fe 5g ?
4000 mAh is not bad on the S21, but I would prefer to go with the S21+ with the 4800 mAh battery. I would also take the S21+ over the S20FE
@@PBKreviews Thanks but the thing is I have chance to buy S20 fe and S21 for almost the same price
which on you think is wiser choose ?
I want to know the new chipe on s21 make the battery better ? (I mean almost the same as S20 fe)
@@misterpringles2384 Usually newer chips handle battery life better. I would go with the S21. Has better audio build (both top and bottom have the foam balls in the speaker assembly and the display has stronger glass compared to the s20 FE. Also newer processor and a 64MP telephoto lens.
I thought they were using Li-po batteries, are they not? or is there a specific reason why they're only writing "Li-ion" on batteries?
