- Bose and JBL seem to be rivals; however one may argue if JBL uses more speakers that means they have the advantage. But JBL has tons of bass; and so does Bose. Therefore since they both pack punches; this is a tie breaker because neither were more bassful than the other. Surprise; song choice is: Toys by Ponder. Thanks for the support and interest!

I really apreciate that you put to the test the all mighty BOSE SOUNDDOCK portable vs the JBL X4 because its an old speaker but i think it still has alot off punch , if you could do a BOSE vs MARSHALL that would be great, keep it fun.

My Bose sounddock portable was stolen from me recently. I loved that speaker so much even though I didn't use the docking feature anymore (using a Bluetooth adapter), but I got so much use out of it throughout the years. I decided a JBL Boombox 2 would be a nice upgrade so I purchased one so I could move on but after listening to my new speaker I miss my Bose sounddock even more, the sound was so much better on that much smaller speaker 😥.

i just heard the Bose sounddock today, i was totally shocked how flat and boring the sound was !
The highs are really poor, the mids are okay, the bass is weird.
Maybe it sounds great with a Apple ipod, but i used it with the Aux jack, and also with the dock connection with bluetotth adapter.
It sounded really horrible especially if you are used to have a Jbl or Sonos. Seriously not worth the monney !
The only good side is that it can go really really loud without distortion, thats it.

No it was a genuine one im very sure about that. it was from a friend who bought it many years ago when it first came out in store.

i listened again, but this time i connected my Ipod to the sounddock, and played my favorite song. It really really sounds amazing good ! the highs and bass mids are all good balanced. Especially for its size its incredible how loud it goes without any distortion or lack of of bass.
But the stupid thing is when you use the Aux, or bluetooth adapter it sounds terrible ! the dsp is disabled than. i guess its only made for the Ipods.
