    The amplifier is split into two sections for true stereo. This method is used to make sure there's zero noise and blend between the channels, just like your high end home audio stereo amplifier. If I cracked open my Yamaha it's literally split in two, with bare pcb board connecting the two sides. The board in the center helps filter out noise and deliver clean signal to the right and left amplifiers.

    Great vid as always with some classic stuff. Any chance you have seen or heard of anyone with the Oz Audio Delta 2400 amp? Always wanted one and have never seen them actually available. Would love to see the amp dyno for that as well Big D!!!!

    I have owned every generation of Sony personal audio player (from the cassette walkman right up to the modern Hi-res players) and still, to this day, the mini disc is my favourite format. I wish I hadn't sold my mini disc player (sold it because shops stopped stocking mini discs) years ago, I miss it, it's size, the ease of use. I know people today probably prefer their phones but mini discs always had top of the range amplifiers in them while phones are really hit and miss.

    I would love to see some rodek amps on the dyno. I've used 3 rodeks for the past 20 years, and I can't switch for anything else, they sound soooo nice. I have a 280e, 2150, and 2300 and would love to see what numbers they put out. I haven't been able to break them with any sub I've thrown at them lol

    Having fun testing some amps...
    It doesn't get any nerdier than that! Bravo!
    I have some Sony stereo equipment and tell you the truth, I have a gut feeling that the engineer and designer were designing it for themselves, and Sony having a premium product to sell is just a side effect. Check out CDP-X5000 to see what I mean. ;)

    • @wal
      @wal  6 років тому

      That was at the end of the test. If you pause when the amp hits 2994 watts, it’s less than 300 amps

    No one seems to know that SQ amps exist or how much better they sound. My first amp was an MB Quart 100w x 4 at 4 ohms. Lasted for years, had some issues with it, but it was an OK amp. Then I replaced it with a Zapco LX 150w x 4 at 4 ohms, an amplifier costing around 8 times more. The difference was substantial and it's been perfectly reliable.

    What a beauty! Sony makes great gear all around but they kind of suffered the whole jack of all trades, master of none syndrome...having their hands in so many pots but never being the best in any of them. Well, maybe the best Walkman's... ;)

      I sold hundreds of Trinitron TVs. They were good...but not the best. Sony was the best at getting folks to believe they were the best even though they weren't. Much like many believe Bose is the best...when they certainly aren't.
