I was a former school nurse. One day, the superintendent came to my office rather red faced. He had shoved a pencil in his ear to scratch an itch and the eraser broke off! Luckily, I had a pointy tipped pair of tweezers and was able to remove it without too much difficulty. So, it's not just kids who stick things in their ears. 😆
my lil brother did this when he was about 4-5yo. i asked why he did this and his answer was " i saw spongebob put something in his left ear and then the things came out from his right ear " really made my day
Doctors see kids all the time for this kind of thing, and they all have their favorite stories to tell. its truly amazing what kids will stick in and where they stick it!
+Slammed lol my freind smuggled in a drug pill in his ear at school and ate the pill in the bathroom. This one 6th grader ratted him out and he is know kicked out from this school
When I was a very small child I put a crayon in my ear and then someone swung a pillow at my head knocking the crayon deep into my ear, a piece of crayon was lodged so deep into my ear canal I had to undergo surgery to have it removed, happy days.
***** lol i was about 9 at the time, and for some reason had a small battery in class and not really thinking much. Was enjoying the feeling of the battery slightly pushed into my ear. Then it got stuck. It hasn't happened again promise.
Wow, that battery could have done alot of damage. When I heard the eardrum was gone I flinched but was pleasantly surprised to hear that it can grow back. Didn't know that.
I've had a cock roach crawl in my ear once. It was in there for over a week and at night I couldn't sleep cause I could hear it scuttling around, living on my ear wax. Eventually it died though, but not before giving birth to two or three baby cock roaches. Doctors had to wash them all out with alcohol and peroxide. A few of them came out alive. Thankfully, there was no real harm done but sometimes, when my ear rings, I swear I can still hear them in there, moving around.
If the damage is too great, yes. Otherwise they grow back just fine. I had a small hole in my left drum after an infection when I was about 6, and it grew back after 2 weeks.
Yeah they usually will grow back, I've had a ruptured eardrum when I was younger and it grew back, although there is now a scar on my eardrum from it. It hasn't affected my hearing.
Masons think they are men, but die from satan if redemption to god doesnt happen, some objects act like that I know because I knew a friend that had that happen to him out of state, boy was I lucky.
When I was about 16 years a cockroach crawled into my ear and I thought it was a butterfly by the sound it was making, everytime it moves I scream so bad,it was late to go the hospital by that time so I had to calm myself down and try to sleep, the next morning I didn't hear anything so I assumed it got out,but nope! when my mother checked my ear it was in and it started moving again 😫 we went to the hospital and they remove it by putting hot water into a syringe spray it and it came out since then I started sleeping with cottons.
I had an actual earwig in my ear when i was younger. I felt something in my ear and stuck my finger in, felt nothing. Then no sooner did I remove my finger out runs an earwig.
This kid deserves a darwin award. First he's daft enough to stuff something in his ear, second he doesn't think he should tell anyone for a week and third he can't tell the difference between a battery and a pencil.
Looks like he pushed the watch battery into his ear canal with the help of a pencil! That's why he insisted it was a pencil in his ear. Seems like he forgot about the battery!
I’m glad they were able to get him to doctors safe and he was able to recover that poor kid had to go through that I’m glad God was by his side the whole time❤
I'm getting taken to the Hospital by ambulance because i was cleaning my ears with a Q-Tip then cotton, a end piece from the Q-Tip itself got stuck in my left ear and the Paramedics told me and my Mom it's not damaged but a little blood was shown. Now I'm getting it removed by professionals and I was panicking that I'll lose my hearing... please pray for me!
In Britain you get to go to the doctor to have the battery taken out. In America, your Mom does it herself, further damaging the ear, because you can't afford the insurance co-pay
It depends how badly damaged the ear drum is - I had holes in my eardrums and they said they would heal over, but my left eardrum had an 80% hole and needed a skin graft (and further surgery when that developed a cholasteatoma.) They're both quite badly scarred and I have tinnitus, but my right eardrum grew without too many problems.
Ahh.. brings back memories of that time when I accidentally slipped in a few grains of rice onto one of my ears. Don't remember whether that was before or after I had swallowed that shiny marble instead of playing with it. Thankfully age has taken the curiosity out of me. For my own good I'd say.
When I was six a wasp flew in my ear at the school playground. When I went to the doctors they only pulled a little piece out because they said they didn't want to mess up my ear and make me go deaf so the gave me this medication for my ear and it didn't even help. So my cousin took a small tweezers and pulled it out for me. It was stick and huge I could actually hear after that day
I use to suffer with awful ear infections as a child and young adult and i'll always remember my gp telling me that you Never Put Anything Smaller Than Your Elbow into your ear.
There's no way the kid didn't know what was in his ear. My theory is that he got the watch battery from digging around in a drawer containing stuff he wasn't allowed to play with. Him having a pencil is no problem, he's allowed those. But since he knew it was a watch battery, and he would get in trouble for having it, he went with the pencil lie - of course, since he's a kid, he didn't think it through enough to realise that when it was removed, everyone would see it! Kids think a bit differently to us adults.
Only in England does a kid rupture his eardrum with a watch battery, not tell anyone for a week and then sit calmly and nonchalant while the doctor fishes it out, replying "You know, I don't fink it was now." Waaaaaay more chill than a North American kid, let me tell you.

Same and the narrator even said before he went into the room that it's very dangerous and can damage the ear basically to the point of it being Un-repairable...
well, yeah, its not the kind of thing you want to do but it does heal sometimes. I ruptured mine smacking my head against the bottom of a pool. it hurts a lot. it healed, but I got a really bad ear infection last year that spread so far I had to be hospitalized. that time it exploded and I had to have surgery to repair it. I mananged a similar feat at age 36! While making a note on an invoice in blue ink, a sudden itch in my ear required my attention. I used the top of the pen / biro in an effort to relieve it. The ER intern new what he needed by description, having to helped by the nurse. You can't make this up. Narragansett Bay.
Once when I was about... Idk about 4 years old, I somehow managed to fit a trampoline inside my ear. The metal began to rust and poke at my eardrums and I needed surgery. Also the carpet material rubbing against my ear caused permanent dry skin inside my left ear. I was an idiot as a child.

I once had a piece of gum stuck in my right ear for two years, when I went to the doctor they took it out but the gum was bigger than before it kinda hurt.
A good friend lost her first child because she swallowed a battery from a birthday card. Unfortunately she DIDN'T tell anyone what she swallowed until it was too late and three hospital visits did not result in an Xray. Her name was Summer. I hope it never happens to another parent.
For a split second I so thought that Dr. was sticking the end of the scissors into this kids ear!! As a Mom, I kind of freaked out for a second!! Had to go back and watch it again....and sheeeeew, thank God no!!!
They kid was lying his ass off not wanting to get in trouble. I bet he broke his dads watch and for some damn reason put it on his ear then it feel in and he failed to get it out.
I had a live juvenile cockroach in my ear once. It made one hell of a racket for quite a while by the time I got to the hospital it had died down somewhat, because the earwax was building up and clinging to the cockroach, which slowed it down. It was going in circles but couldn't get itself out of the ear. When they looked in and saw it, they grabbed it out with a pair of tweezers. I'd imagine they've seen many strange objects that shouldn't be in people's ears over the years, no matter which hospital. The cockroach was put out of it's waxy misery.
what in the hell? why would he say it was a pencil to his own family? Just because he was scared and he didnt know what it actually was that he put in his ear? Rather than say "idk what it was that i put in my ear" because maybe he thought he would sound dumb?..so he just said "ohh it was a pencil"..? i dont really understand why he would lie. weird
He probably got the battery by playing with something he shouldn't have, and didn't want to get in trouble. Also probably explains why he waited a week to tell his parents.
Here’s a story! (By the way I was about 7 or 6) Me and my brothers went to visit our grandmother once and she had a big garden in the front, me and my younger brother (age 4) liked looking at bugs. We liked finding pill bugs the most and making little homes for them. One day my brother was holding one really close to him nose and ended up getting it stuck inside! Since I was young I don’t remember much after but I was confused when my brother disappeared after telling mom. Years later I found out he had to go to the hospital to get it surgically removed because it had crawled up deeper. He doesn’t like them anymore ...
Lucydraws 27 XD i remember a fly getting stuck in my nose and i had to blow it out coz i freaked out, my friend i was laughing thinking it was a joke but nope it was real, i found a black thing when i was errr dont wanna tell, then i was panicking then i found it flying in my bedroom, yeah wasn't the best experience i had

Pov: you thought the doctor was kidding when he said he cant see his eardrum
wtf wow he thinks a watch battery was a pencil??wtf really
He might used the pencil to stuff the battery
+Jine Rodney Keep in mind he told people a week after he did it, since he's young he might not have remembered
He probably tried to get the battery out himself with a pencil
he probably didn't remember or just lied to avoid even more trouble
Jine Rodney, he’s a kid. Kids make up stupid lies.
good job dr,
what in the hell? why would he say it was a pencil to his own family? Just because he was scared and he didnt know what it actually was that he put in his ear? Rather than say "idk what it was that i put in my ear" because maybe he thought he would sound dumb?..so he just said "ohh it was a pencil"..? i dont really understand why he would lie. weird
Exacally
He probably got the battery by playing with something he shouldn't have, and didn't want to get in trouble. Also probably explains why he waited a week to tell his parents.
Tacos Attack! thats a rational response...good thinking
little rascal he won't do it again
I would do it to him
+WhiteCreeperMC I would help you do it right
Here’s a story!
(By the way I was about 7 or 6)
Me and my brothers went to visit our grandmother once and she had a big garden in the front, me and my younger brother (age 4) liked looking at bugs.
10TH DOCTOR K-9 GRYFFINDOR OoF!!!
They need to get to the point. Ha.
My friend stuck a crayon in his ear and had to get surgery
I full on thought he was going to pull out a proper writing pencil
Emma J i thought he was gonna pull the led of it
Kids from other countries prefer to put batteries in their toys rather than in their ears.
It was a what stuck in his ear
A watch battery...
Good job kid
