I followed standard medical advice and stopped cleaning my ears with Q-tips and quickly ended up with BL wax impactions! It was the worst thing, to be losing your hearing and you get very nervous when you can't hear what is happening around you. I left my appointment a totally different person- went from hunched and nervous to standing tall and smiling just because I could hear! The impact of hearing loss is much greater than I ever knew. The doctor told me to go back to cleaning my ears out like I always did.
This is what I say if I didn't clean my ears out about every other night with a Q-tip then I would be at the doctor's office every month coughing like crazy and they wouldn't be able to get anything out either. And why don't they just make you tip smaller where they don't show things and they get things out because I just take off about half of the cotton and use it around the canal and make sure not to shove anything further and it works great. My husband on the other hand does not clean his cuz he goes to the ear doctor on a frequent occasion just to get ear wax sucked out. What do they think those are made for not cleaning your ears using it on your fingernails, any other thing that they're just lying about because trust me there for your ears
I have a question why is it that you guys never trim all that crazy hair that some of the patients have? You can't say that it's all normal because most people do not have it it's like 1 and 20 year videos I see have people that have hair just sticking straight out of their ears and no one ever plucks it and acts like it's not a problem when you can't see anything and there's a wax embedded in that crap all the way down to their eardrum just about. Can we do a PSA to old man not to put their head to the side and shave that stuff with a nose hair trimmer because it just gets embedded down into your wax and you can tell. Does anybody else see this and then nobody else notices and says it's fine?
The guy with the dome in his ear had encrusted hard wax stuck to his ear drum. Do you think that makes it perhaps not vibrate like it's supposed to? Sorry I'm used to the videos where they don't touch the walls and mainly use suction and it's all completely clean even by the ear drum even if they use oil to debride it it's so squameaky clean after. After all the stuff didn't come out on its own the first 75 years of their life obviously don't you think maybe we should get it all the way clean? I'm sure I just don't get it after all not a doctor at all. Just seems that they came all the way to the doctor and at times I feel they just get some of the wax out.

My husband is a regular wax builder. We thought it was because he used ear plugs at work, but he retired six years ago. Two years ago, he had his ears cleaned out via suction for the first time. Afterwards, his hearing was great. About a month ago, he experienced severe hearing loss in both ears. We went in to an ENT where they cleaned his ears out and instructed him to come back in a year, unless it happens again before the next appointment. Having had ear infections over the years the suction one was the best to use because it just eased the pain ...I now have a Clocile Ear implant... which is brilliant!!
No, not ear wax by itself. If it was extensively obstructed creating Keratosis Obturans with erosion or creating a cholesteatoma, those conditions could erode through the balance center in the inner ear and create problems.
I think some people have the shape ear where they can clean their ears safely with a q-tip. I am one of them. Maybe our ear canals are not as deep as some people's ear canals.
Thanks for the clarification. I clean my ears with a Q-tip or I will get a lot of wax build up. When I do I too will have to stop and cough. Glad to know it is not just me.
My regular doctor (general or primary care) used to clean my ears every annual check up. He's retired now and since starting UT Southwestern Medical Center everything becomes a fiasco and I'm sure ill be sent to a specialist. Just to wash the ears? Wish I could do it myself.

Now for the patient with the cough, maybe if the doctor could have tried to apply a minimum amount of fluid for wax removal, could it have possibly made it a bit easier on the patient even if having to remove it in smaller pieces? 🤔 my ears stuggle to produce wax most of the time but constantly feels as though my ears need to be cleaned for the amount of ear wax in this first patients ear it'd take possibly maybe around 2 to 3 years without cleaning my ears at all
Omg I found it so interesting and cool about ear cough reflux. Didn’t know that existed. My ex would cough every time cleaning his ear but I didn’t know it was such a thing 😅
Interesting i didnt know that about the vagus nerve and i am an autistic person that hyper focuses on things i want learn now i am going to hyper focus on the nervous system in the ears. And i also must see this for myself it is a pretty funny party trick!
Considering how loud the squeaks were compared to your voice, it's a good thing she didn't have normal hearing because that certainly would have hurt for the sound to originate that close to the drum
Yes, the noise of "slurping" through the suction can be disturbing. I talk through this before I perform the procedure so they are aware that sometimes it gets noisy!
My husband gets annual hearing tests by his employer. He says the nurse giving the hearing exam looks at his ears and his hearing loss can't be earwax. Should I get him to see an ear nose and throat doctor to be sure or is it likely just hearing loss? It's becoming a problem for me if not for him because he doesn't hear me and he says he doesn't need hearing aids, but requires subtitles for watching movies.
people who cough during ear cleaning are dangerous and very risky to handle... especially when you're holding something sharp or pointy, so so close to the eardrum...
Ears have an inherent ability to self regulate. Sometimes they need a little help, put them on the right topical regimen, avoid things that make it worse and then they are on their own. Comparing the ear cleaning to a car detailing for example is not accurate and not necessary. Thanks for watching!

No, not ear wax by itself. If it was extensively obstructed creating Keratosis Obturans with erosion or creating a cholesteatoma, those conditions could erode through the balance center in the inner ear and create problems.
Love watching these very informative ❤
Glad you like them!
Interesting, when I clean my ears with a Qtip, which Im not supposed to do, I get a tickle in my throat.
I think some people have the shape ear where they can clean their ears safely with a q-tip. I am one of them. Maybe our ear canals are not as deep as some people's ear canals.
Why do I feel sick but still watch?
Лучшая работа в мире 🤤
Use an endoscope, they give you a better view instead of a cone
For patient 1. Why don't you put fluid in the ear then suction it?
Certainly an option however suction is not always the best option.
Thanks for the clarification. I clean my ears with a Q-tip or I will get a lot of wax build up. When I do I too will have to stop and cough. Glad to know it is not just me.
Great work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Crazy how these people can let there ear get to this point..
Camera is great views fantastic 😊😊
Thank you!
My regular doctor (general or primary care) used to clean my ears every annual check up. He's retired now and since starting UT Southwestern Medical Center everything becomes a fiasco and I'm sure ill be sent to a specialist. Just to wash the ears?
Wish I could do it myself.
Nice Video. I subscribed !
Thanks for the sub!
Me too!
Me three 😅!
Kita sepatutnya selalu bersih2kan dlm telinga kita. 3 bulan sekali. Baru la tahi telinga x bnyak mcm tu. Ini mungkin dah lama x bersih kn telinga nya, maka tahi telinga pn dh bnyak terkumpul dlm telinga nya dah keras. Saya pn selalu bersih kn dlm telinga saya dengan grip hair. Alhamdulillah 🤲😀🌹
Ada juga orang bersihkan telinga nya dgn putik kapas tpi makin masuk ke dlm tahi telinga nya. Jdi dia g jumpa dgn doctor. Doctor guna kn forceps. Skli kluar besar tahi telinga nya.
Concerning the first patient. Would using a water pump to flush the ear out cause the same coughing as trying to use the tools?
Direct visualization debridement is key when doing skin peels. Irrigation won’t remove the skin layers effectively. Thanks for watching!
Good job Doc👍
Thank you kindly!
Love the video of four different extractions👏❤️
Glad you like them!
To reduce the cough reaction, is topical anesthesia out of the question? Either for the throat or ear?
We need to use the word squamous more often. 🤣 would love a pic or view of the tympanic membrane!
I use it all the time! Thanks for the tip!
I used to have a really bad gag reflex when cleaning my ears. It's a lot better now.
Now for the patient with the cough, maybe if the doctor could have tried to apply a minimum amount of fluid for wax removal, could it have possibly made it a bit easier on the patient even if having to remove it in smaller pieces? 🤔 my ears stuggle to produce wax most of the time but constantly feels as though my ears need to be cleaned for the amount of ear wax in this first patients ear it'd take possibly maybe around 2 to 3 years without cleaning my ears at all
OMG! That's so much ear wax. I'd love to be the one picking it out.
The cough reflex also happens to my 10 years old son
And it makes it difficult to clean his ears
لماذا يترك الناس الصمغ في آذانهم حتى يصل هذه الكمية !!! ألا ينظفونها ؟
Omg I found it so interesting and cool about ear cough reflux. Didn’t know that existed. My ex would cough every time cleaning his ear but I didn’t know it was such a thing 😅
How would you clean his ears?
Interesting i didnt know that about the vagus nerve and i am an autistic person that hyper focuses on things i want learn now i am going to hyper focus on the nervous system in the ears. And i also must see this for myself it is a pretty funny party trick!
I'm coughing and it's so embarrassing..people always think the worst..God help me
Considering how loud the squeaks were compared to your voice, it's a good thing she didn't have normal hearing because that certainly would have hurt for the sound to originate that close to the drum
Yes, he needs a formal diagnostic hearing evaluation, aka audiogram, and someone to look in his ears. Thanks for watching!
Не могла оторваться! Смотрела, как сериал! Даже дышала через раз!
people who cough during ear cleaning are dangerous and very risky to handle... especially when you're holding something sharp or pointy, so so close to the eardrum...
Перекись водорода нужно заливать в ухо, и прмывать
You didn't scrape clean that flaky white thing like ear cleaning services. Is it dangerous to have 'too clean' ears?
Ears have an inherent ability to self regulate. Sometimes they need a little help, put them on the right topical regimen, avoid things that make it worse and then they are on their own. Comparing the ear cleaning to a car detailing for example is not accurate and not necessary. Thanks for watching!
My Son, has always coughed when he gets his ears cleaned.
I cough and gage, when I clean my ears.
