    Depending on the thickness of the clear coat spray,you might have issues with the buttons sticking
    I always sand down the holes before I put the controller back together,helps with buttons not sticking

    Sand your primer, guys. I did autobody for years, lots of experience painting. Something like this I'd just scuff the primer with scotch-brite and you gotta remember to clean it. In autobody we use a product called paint prep but you can use Windex or soapy water. If you're going to spray color on it sanding and cleaning is important.

      How do I sand it? I've never done this

    • @somewhatideal
      @somewhatideal 2 місяці тому

      @ADHD_PLAYZgames scotch brite works best for smaller products like these imo, but to each their own. Others like to use 600+ grit sandpaper, but I tend to overdo it with sandpaper haha!

    Bulldog adhesion primer is wise. Use 1500 grit WET sand paper. Dry will scratch. Let coats of clear flash for at least 30. Wet sand again, repeat accouple more times,.

      Agreed and we missed that part of it with the needing "Wet" sandpaper. We will add it in the notes! Thanks for catching it.

      @Nicholas Malovrh yes, most likely. I have always used Bulldog. Automotive stores carry that as well. Also in rattle-can. Allow for plenty of flash time. Always try new adventures on something that is a throw away item that isn't important.

    I want to attempt to recreate the Phantom Xbox One controllers. If I chose a clear plastic faceplate to paint should I still sand it down? Also, is it okay to not apply primer? I plan to paint some solid color on half and leave the rest clear, I'm not sure how to approach it.

    I wanna make this on my Xbox controller, but with airbrush but I'm wondering do I have to use 2-hard and 2-thin mixed with the paint? 🤔 Since 2 hard is used for hard surfaces and 2 thin to make the paint more liquid for the airbrush :'v

    Ive been using angelus varnish on hard surfaces all this time. Hmm is it not recommended?

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  3 роки тому

      It depends on the surface. This surface is rubbed so much our customer who do controllers for a living suggested to have it coated with a clear coat on top. Especially on a really hard plastic like this. We have had people do less prep and post work and have it turn out fine but we like to overkill in case.

  • @norbzlopez7819

    Is the the 2 hard even necessary? If the paint cures properly and we add the clear this should help avoid chipping right?

    • @Carmonafilmss
      @Carmonafilmss 3 роки тому

      Yes! The 2-hard is necessary, the surface is plastic so the 2-hard helps to paint to be durable in this type of material

    • @norbzlopez7819
      @norbzlopez7819 3 роки тому

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  3 роки тому

      @@norbzlopez7819 Hey actually no the 2-hard isn't 100% necessary. We just like to go over board if necessary. Some people do not even use primer or an adhesion promoter and it works great. We just like to go overboard so there is no question that it worked or not.

    These are awesome! I am using the 2-hard right now on Air Force 1 soles, experimenting with the results. Does anyone have a magic suggestion on the best product to use for keeping custom shoes forever sealed(no future maintenance on soles needed)

    • @Aphrxdite
      @Aphrxdite 3 роки тому +1

      Painting the soles is not recommended for shoes that aren’t going to be display pieces because no matter what you do, the paint will inevitably crack and peel off. There’s no true way to adhere paint to the rubber material unfortunately): For the leather parts of the shoe, good prepping and a few thin layers of 4-coat will do the trick!

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  3 роки тому

      We never suggest painting hard rubber soles. If painting rubber was easy you would see custom cars running around with bright colored tires all over the place. Rubber just does not have paint adhere to it at all.
