Considering his entire greatness is based on a 3 year prime where 90% of his opponents where cab drivers and the other 10% where B-level at BEST. Yes, he's the most overrated boxer ever.
Tyson lost cos he's been champion for long, Tyson lost cos Cus just died, Tyson lost cos Rooney this n that, Tyson lost cos blah blah blah!🤣🤣🤣.. WHY can't fanboys just face and accept the fact that he lost cos he's overrated and was outclassed and not as invincible as u fanboys thought him to be!! Hahaha excuses excuses!😂😂😂
I totally agree with you Curtis, every time Mike fought someone who wasn't scared of him and stood up to him he lost. He seemed to be able to give out the punishment but couldn't take it when someone put it back on him.
@@Kevin-y6d3y All these came to fight and tried to win: Long, green, tillis, berbick, Botha, ruddock, golota, Bruno 1, Mitch green, Tillman, tibbs, tucker. You’re copying what Teddy Atlas said because of a fall out.
@lukepeacham9663 no I've never been a Tyson fan and have always said it. He could give it out but couldn't take it back. That doesn't make him an all time great.
One of the greatest phenoms of all time! Agreed, he ain't the best of all time but when I was a kid those 80s fights were ace. Looking forward to your top 10
Great video Curtis. It won't be a popular opinion but it is 100% correct. I love Mike Tyson for being a legendary character in boxing, however there is no depth to his career resume due to his lifestyle between 1989-1995.
Massive Tyson fan back in the day but I’d say yes …….. at the time (short period) it was epic few gave ever done what he did/could do BUT it was for a very short time and in the end he couldn’t sustain it, we see it in other sports too. If your talking all time greats yes he’s massively overrated, if your talking how good was someon3 for a short period he’s up there, two very different debates.
@@theglovesareoffwithcurtisw8442 Fair comment. That said, I believe it was the Samuel Peters fight in which part of Peters purse was a new washing machine. Longevity is easier to achieve against these calibre of fighter. I get that its a personal preference, I was just never a fan. I look forward to hearing your list and reasons why/perspective..
Vitali Klitchko never got dropped in his career, his only losses were two TKO due to injury I believe. Lewis didn’t want the rematch with him but Lewis had done everything
One of the biggest what ifs in boxing,he peaked too early and fired the folks who got him to where he was and by the time it came to cement his legacy against a greater calibre of opponents he was a spent force because of his lifestyle and lack of discipline
He just sucks, his skills were trash. Barreling forward always off balance, clumsy once he's put on the backfoot. He had good head movement that's it, everything else is all "speed and power" b.s. that gets the normies all excited.
Mike Tyson was the youngest wbc champion of the world put that Version of Tyson in with AJ Parker Zang wilder whyte he’d wipe them with ease even usyk would have a nightmare with prime Mike Tyson
Woulda, coulda, shoulda, Stop giving Mike credit for what you believe he ''coulda'' done. Aj, parker and Zhang are bigger and better than anyone mike ever beat. He won the titles from lousy trevor berbick who already had multiple losses and had already been one rounded by some random journeyman years prior.
@@joejoyce9979"bigger" doesn't equal "better", I'd think you new age guys would've learned that lesson by now, with that said mike tyson is overrated and fake hypothetical wins over modern contenders means 💩
For around 3 years he was a phenomenal fighter, he burst on the scene in '85 and upto the Spinks fight he looked unstoppable, then the wheels began to fall off. He had a troubled second half of' 88 outside the ring then looked a little off against Bruno, quickly despatched Williams in mid '89, but then got beat by Douglas in early 90. After that he was still a strong force, but he'd lost a lot of the subtleties he'd shown on the way up and now relied much more on his power than skills. Because his prime was so short, and the competition not the best, its hard to rank Tyson alongside long reigning greats like Louis, Ali, Holmes, Lewis, Klitschkos etc. I think he was a very good/great, but flawed fighter, overrated by many who get overly excited by his KO highlight reels and probably under rated by people like Teddy Atlas who say he never overcame adversity. It's not like he never got smashed hard in the face or taken rounds by decent fighters before beating them, he did, but he didn't do it consistently throughout most of his career.
To be 20 years of age and win the Trevor Berbick for the WBC world title, then beat Tony Tucker and Boneceusher smith to win the other belts, beating Larry Holmes was better than what people say when you look at Holmes career after the Tyson fight, Micheal Spinks a hall of famer 91 seconds! He tore the division apart! How can you possibly say that’s over rated! 99.9999999% of boxers who enter the ring would dream of a career like that!
He skills are overrated asf, he's off balance constantly winging wild haymakers, he's short, he has t Rex arms, he can't fight on the backfoot at all. You can literally see a clear blueprint to beat him and many did
Pretty much agree with you. Was he good? Hell yes! Fast feet got into that mid short range off good fast feet, triple jab and head movement. All those fast hands and pivots when he got in were phenomenal. Youngest HW champ and all that, but he had a career that was built from an explosive style and once his legs went he was done. He lived a wild life and the way he boxed, imho he was always going to have a short time at the top. Hard to put him in a GOAT top 10 list but no denying he became iconic and not many boxers get that. In some ways it reminds me of Tank - rate him highly and he’s technically superb. But how good is he really? We won’t ever know until he fights the other top guys.
He can't fight inside or out, he can't move backwards, he punches himself off balance, he gets knocked off balance very easily. Other than head movement his skills are trash
Are you crazy? I'm Aboriginal Australian. I support my BLK American brothers!!. European males enslaved, colonized and subjugated our people for over three generations! I think hes top 15 as far as heavyweight. Hes resume just as good as larry holmes, joe frazier, and joe louis 🤷 and mike tyson was champion for 3years just like joe frazier was. And mike has better names on his resume than the klitschko by far.

We seen how good prime Mike Tyson was when he fought Buster Douglas.
Tyson was a bully, anytime some one fought back they beat him .. 🥊
Curt my mate I prefer and miss the old channel name. THE GLOVES ARE OFF WITH CURTIS WOODHOUSE. Sounds much more apt and exciting!
Done 🤝
@theglovesareoffwithcurtisw8442 haha class Curtis! Love you to do a collaboration with Russell on Porky's Corner. 😀😀

When Mike Tyson fought anybody half decent he lost, I wouldn't put him in my top 10 aswell.
His peak when he was at his best was very short but till this day probably the most exciting/anticipated boxer I ever seen in my lifetime

Lewis, ali ,foreman ,holmes, frazier, holyfield, joe louis ,liston, vitali klitchko, bowe tyson
Tyson isn't in my top 15 😂😂
Never in a bad fight either 💯🥊🥊
not in the top 10 but by far the most exciting, you're correct. Some of them punches ruddock took from him would of put most of us in the grave.

Maybe peaked early then fell away and of course his lifestyle didn't help
Of course he's in the top 10.
So who were Klitschko's best 3 wins against?
They also didn’t have any spectacular wind but they had longevity. Something Tyson didn’t

Fighters should be judged on when they were in their prime and prime Mike Tyson was a wrecking ball of a man..
He was finished by 27-28.
28? what about 23
Yes, versus 5 top tier elite fighters he got beat! Flat track bully but not a great
got his ass handed too him.. none of which were close.. a lucky punch.. close decision.. none of that.. beat up. KNOCKED OUT
