Been at St Blames a few times , fortunately there were no clouds on Arrans mountains so it was a brilliant view. Once when I went I heard a voice reading from a religious book and found an elderly lady sitting in the chapel with no-one else there. I felt I was intruding and left.
We had glorious weather last year when we were on Arran itself. Bute was changeable, but weather doesn't bother me, I fill the boot with layers and I've heard that skin is very waterproof 🤣
Scots must take for granted that veering off the beaten path just a bit can present them with ancient wonders like this. Here in the Americas most remains like this were destroyed and lost giving generations the impression our only history is that of European conquest. Thanks for another great video!
Great to see it is kept in excellent condition! The Marquis must have realised that it would not exist much longer if he did not do remedial work on it. The monks and nuns being separated in death, must have been to ensure that they remained apart, even in death, to stop them breaking their vows of chastity! That view of The Holy Isle is just majestic, and I hope that you'll do more videos of it too! As usual a very informative video, and a joy to watch! ......Tich.
I have never heard about the segregated burials between men and women. I so enjoy your wonderful and well researched stories (folklore) of the areas that you are vlogging.
What a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing more of your trip! The views are stunning! I enjoyed hearing about the history of the area. I too had never heard of men of women being in different parts of the grave yard.
I didn't know about segregating men and women in the graveyard before. Enjoyed hearing about the wonders St Blane was said to have acheived, an interesting man by all accounts.

You are most welcome! Yes, the indigenous folk of the Americas caught a horribly raw deal.

We are lucky in the Celtic regions that there is as much folklore as fact for every place I explore 🤣Thanks for watching!
What a great site and plenty commanding views! Really enjoyed this.
It's a fantastic site! These oul Saint's were good at landing on prime Real Estate 🤣🤣

The separated in death thing is a bit odd. Another video from Bute should be up in the morning!!!

You are most welcome, thank you!
My travelling historian friends explore more historical mysteries!
Thanks John!
I was named after St. Blane. Would love to visit this place
You should! It's stunning!
I do need to go back to the Isle of Bute and explore it more.
We are planning a return, some great places we just didn't have time to get fully researched and amply explored.
@@ExploringScotlandsHistory yeah, Bute is a lot bigger than people realise.
I didn't know about segregating men and women in the graveyard before. Enjoyed hearing about the wonders St Blane was said to have acheived, an interesting man by all accounts.
It's an education every short break we take. Bute is a great wee Isle, I thoroughly recommend it!
Is it possible to indicate on a map where you are on different islands? Is this a difficult request .. its so interesting..
Its quite a hard one to do, but if you are planning to visit, I'm sure we could sort a sensible itinerary in order for you to explore the sites.
