Thanks Julie . Thank you for you being you. You tell of the personal touch . Making these places able to enter into our hearts . My eyes see a awesome place and my ears inform my mind of details about it Thus lighting the fire of curiosity and wonder , which brings out the humanity of these persons and the humanity in me .
It's a lovely graveyard, my wife's grandparents are buried here, they were farmers on Craiberoch Farm they died in the 50's. We often visit to lay flowers.
I was pleasantly surprised when I was researching, to find so many fabulous individuals interred there. At least now I know their stories are out there! Thanks for watching.
Wonderful video! You do such a great job of finding and sharing the history of each area you visit. I enjoy all that you share. The graveyard is very pretty and what beautiful views beyond! If only the residents of that graveyard could share their stories with you. How interesting that would be! I guess that’s why we’re grateful for history books left behind so we can learn a little about some of them.
@@ExploringScotlandsHistory HAHA! That made me laugh out loud! You are so right! As much as I would like to hear their story, I would probably run for my life if they popped up. Haha
The whole segment about the graveyard was fascinating. It makes me shudder to think what the catholic orphanage was probably like. I was going to ask if there were newer graves in the cemetery and then saw the woman buried in 1992. Thanks as always for your wonderful videos.
We nearly missed it as we were kind of expecting something larger and more elaborate. At least there is one, sometimes the wee ones' memories are erased forever 😥
I think about the people resting in these cemeteries. Like you , I thought of the young gal you mentioned. Sounded like her name was Jenty ? Yes , I hope too that she chose however I think more probably not . I’m getting jaded in my old age .

Such a beautiful area. I really enjoy hearing the history. Thank you!
You are most welcome. We made good use of our few days off, there's some more of the Isle of Bute on the way!
That was really interesting. I love how you find out the back stories to the people buried there. Great video!
Thanks Valerie. I think it's important that folk aren't forgotten. Especially with the Celts being such high achievers!!!
@@ExploringScotlandsHistory absolutely. It's a real pity some have been lost x

Thanks Rita. I love a good graveyard, so much social history. The good, and not so good, should be remembered.

Thanks for watching! It is a lovely kept site.
Thankyou for the interesting trip around the graveyard in Rothesay , it's amazing who the ppl are some of whom I've never heard of before.
Some really interesting folk indeed! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for your research, and fo rtelling us about it. I thought I knew Bute quite well! But thanks to you I have learned a lot.

My great-great grandmother was buried in that churchyard in1909.
I did visit but couldn't find it because I didn't know where to start!
Start by contacting parish records in Rothesay. They should be able to give you plot number. Hope it helps.

If I could have conversations with the folk in graveyards, I'd never get past the first one!!!

I imagine the orphaned was pretty grim in reality. And yes, it appears to still be imterring folk.
so well done
Thank you for watching!
A very interesting graveyard. I thought it a bit sad that there was only one monument for the orphange children.

Jenny hopefully chose her destiny. It's great that research throws up lesser known folk in burial grounds, aswell as the historic 'stars' of the show!
