I do not understand people who liked this movie more than BvS. I also don't understand why people give anything resembling praise for Whedon on this movie.
I disagree with Nick. It's not that they needed seperate movies to set up each individual member of the Justice League. It's just that it's a bad movie. Guardians is proof of that.
But the characters in Guardians aren't Larger than Life Superhero Gods. The Guardians don't work separately, they only work as a team. The Justice League brings together the greatest DC heroes, but they are all separate entities beside the team

Anything COULD work, but let's say that if they chose to follow the blueprint of that other succesful team-up franchise, their chances would've significantly increased. Just look at that clunky-ass dialogue between Mera and Aquaman. If Zack was able to finish this I guarantee it would have been a better movie. There are still ppl that liked man of steel and bvs, they would have liked this too. Instead no one liked this movie. Now that Zack is actually bringing his vision to life in the HBO Snydercut I'm 100% confident it will be a solid improvement from this Frankenstein of a movie.
Random note: I don’t think Mindhunter was cancelled after season two. 😝 They said it’s coming back, but David Fincher is working on a movie, so it might take longer than usual.
Seems like there’s a lot of history being forgotten. They keep saying Snyder had a vision (laid out in BvS), and that they should have let that vision play out. Thats not what I remember in the news and interviews at the time. I remember Snyder getting in touch with Nolan and creating an idea for what Superman could be in the modern/real world. Thats what they did, essentially, and even though people were angry a the destruction, it was a different take, and generally liked. Notice how there were no references to a bigger universe (except a few easter eggs nobody really noticed), no mention of kryptonite (Snyder was adamant about this, saying that it has been overdone in the past, and wanted no part of it, and yet it is central to BvS), and all of it was as grounded as possible. Then, he announced a sequel to Man of Steel. That sequel eventually turned into BvS, at the request of WB, but Snyder maintained that it was a sequel to MoS, and Superman would be the protagonist. Then, the execs saw the movie, and loved Batman and decided the movie needed more Batman and less Superman, and eventually the movie turned into a Batman/Justice League prequel. That was never the plan. Snyder was forced to create an entire Universe in one movie. Then, after all the backlash, they didn’t even go with the ideas set up in BvS, and gave us Justice League, which is a terrible movie. All of this without mentioning how they changed Wonder Woman (which was written by Snyder, I believe), Suicide Squad, and Aquaman, trying their best to move away from the dark Snyder tone, with the only moderate success being WW. Shazaam is the only movie, aside from MoS, that was allowed to be its own thing from the start. Everything else has been meddled with and failed. So, no, none of this was Snyder’s original vision.j
DanV900 My comments are not just about money, neither is success determined only by money, not to mention that gross sales have to take many other factors into account before being considered a success. Suicide Squad, even making as much as it did and even winning an oscar, is universally hated, and forced WB to change plans, yet again (leaving the Joker aside, for example). But, none of this is the point I am making. I may be wrong in terms of defining success, but my point was simply that none of what has happened was ever part of Snyder’s original visionz
As a big DC nerd like Greg it does hurts my heart a little that if wb and dc took the time to actually build out this universe like marvel did with the mcu we could've gotten movies for Nightwing, Titans, Teen Titans, justice league dark and maybe even a jason todd movie and a actual good green lantern movie.
DC is giving us solid and decent standalone movies after Justice League, I wish they would have done that sooner, they’re planning to soft reboot the DCEU with the Flash, and hopefully they learned what worked and what didn’t.
Nick's point on the contradictory tones that should be between Batman and Superman. I agree. But if you look at the arrowverse, each show has a unique tone. Arrow has a darker Batmanesque tone. I think the solution is that the DC movies need to be comfortable with multiple tones across multiple movies.

DirtyOldmanOG The animated series had more air time to develop the characters and build the relationships. That’s the advantage television has over movies.
@@TIVIS014 The SnyderCut is 214 mins long, so lots of time to develop characters properly. Lastly, Cyborg, as Snyder himself has said nomerous times, was meant to be the central figure of his Cut, being tied with the Mother Boxes and all that stuff.
@@DanV900 It would have been shortened to 2h 45 mins or something like that for the Theatrical release, releasing a Director's Cut on BluRay later on. Either way, its plenty of time to flesh out characters if done properly.
The scene with Batman, the thief, and the parademon should've gone exactly 1 second longer than it did. Just long enough to refocus on the guy in the background go, "Wait, who the fuck is Alfred?" #PhoningItBen
I hope after the Flashpoint movie, we can get a proper cinematic universe going. I mean the DCEU is doing better because they doing what they should have done in the first place, make standalone solo films before connecting them.
It's not THE reason but it absolutely is a big part of what is wrong with the movies. They wanted what Marvel had but didn't want to build up to it. I think they relied too heavily on people's familiarity with Superman and Batman, while at the same time not doing those characters justice.
Im gonna be straight i love these guys and try my hardest not to be negative but im genuinely finding it rough trying to get through any of these, its not about nick not having his say it’s the fact it seems to be only nick who gets to have his say. It would be fine if it was nick doing the plot but the problem is andy/tim even kevin don’t talk over everyone it’s just nick
Here's the issue with Superhero movies. 1 - Nobody remembers The Will To Power by Friedrich Nietzsche (who created the concept of the "Ubermensch" which influenced society in two major, diametrically opposing ways. 2 - Joel and Jerry were Jewish kids in 1938 when they created Superman. It's fucking depressing because there's clearly a reason why Superheroes are big now, but nobody wants to address why.
I don’t get when they dig up Superman. Like where did they bury him? According to bvs they buried him in small bills right in front of his house, but then they dig him in some non descrip graveyard. And what did the government bury? And where do they think they buried Clark Kent?
What pisses me off is that Snyder always uses his budget wisely and in his other two films the CGI is flawless, fluid, and flows seamlessly. Then Joss gets his hands on it and it fuckin crumbles. I have no doubt in my mind that if he had finished it, it would've been one of the most visually stunning films in the DCEU. Just better in general. Fuck man.
The only reason I am happy that I watched Justice League is because right now I learned that Ozzy says "ALL ABOARD" at the beginning of Crazy Train.....this is the only good thing to come from the DCEU.

I really really really need another Superman movie with Henry Cavill. Supermans entrance at the end of Justice League is incredible. Bright colored suit, saying a couple quick quirks and just beams hopefulness. Just give us one more shot with him as superman. please
The weird thing is how you guys seems to blame Zack Snyder for every fault and praise Josstice League. I guess we’ll see in a few days whose cut is better, but man some of y’all really hate on Zack I guarantee you that shitty opening credit sequence ain’t in his cut.
Very late on this, but here is my opinion on the dark knight realism. It without a doubt works for Batman, just because the nature of his character and his villains. There is a difference between grounded, gritty realism and being believable. Marvel does a great job making their superhero worlds believable but they aren’t going realism. With enough believable world building they can take risks into the unbelievable without breaking the audiences sense of disbelief. Logan was a great example of realism and believability. Wonder Woman is an example of a movie completely disregarding realism for campiness. You need a healthy dose of realism and believability for a modern audience.
I would argue a superhero franchise can be grounded in realism, as long as they are kept somewhat seperate from that realism through realistic means. For example, in the MCU, most of the superheroes are not saving people from burglarers or house fires or tornadoes or earthquakes or space shuttle explosions.... they are fighting against greater (unrealistic) threats to a way of life. The MCU leans heavily on freedom and American culture, that they are fighting to preserve a way of life.
This films biggest shame (on a long, long list) is not having a Batman fight similar to the Warehouse scene in BvS. If this film had one sequence that was equal to that scene it would be somewhat watchable.
Zack confirmed on Vero that the opening montage was NOT a cover song! He said Junkie’s score plays during the opening montage. Y’all need to get the facts straight...most of your complaints are Joss Whedon’s doing.
Ivan Aguilar All the stupid, cheesy, corny sh*t in this film were thanks to Whedon’s dumb rewrites. And Joss is the reason JL looked like sh*t. When have visuals ever been a problem with Snyder’s films?? Keep making excuses for Joss Whedon...he didn’t have to take the job, but he did...and he turned out a piece of sh*t. “Josstice League” was made for all the ppl who hated MoS and BvS, so enjoy!
Just long enough to refocus on the guy in the background go, "Wait, who the fuck is Alfred?"

The problem with the DCEU isn't that they didn't start with solo films. I don't understand why Nick is so fixated on that.
Tbh i think they could've started with a JL movie like JL War, i thought that did a good enough job introducing the characters.
I hope after the Flashpoint movie, we can get a proper cinematic universe going. I mean the DCEU is doing better because they doing what they should have done in the first place, make standalone solo films before connecting them.
That clunky-ass exposition dump between Mera and Aquaman would disagree...
It's not THE reason but it absolutely is a big part of what is wrong with the movies. They wanted what Marvel had but didn't want to build up to it. I think they relied too heavily on people's familiarity with Superman and Batman, while at the same time not doing those characters justice.
It is a huge problem, though. Why should we care about any of these characters if they haven’t had time to develop? It feels so slapped together
Guys the wall has teeth please help
Nick just talks over everyone on all of these lately.
Nick's really helped to get through these reviews.
Im gonna be straight i love these guys and try my hardest not to be negative but im genuinely finding it rough trying to get through any of these, its not about nick not having his say it’s the fact it seems to be only nick who gets to have his say. Couldn’t even finish batman v superman review or the man of steel one because in both greg is trying to get through the plot and literally every half a sentence nick jumps in, first with what he thinks is wrong with the scene, then how he thinks the scene should have been then film making 101. It would be fine if it was nick doing the plot but the problem is andy/tim even kevin don’t talk over everyone it’s just nick
This ranking right now is spot on!!!
It's fucking depressing because there's clearly a reason why Superheroes are big now, but nobody wants to address why.
the Snyder cut is coming!
I don’t get when they dig up Superman. Like where did they bury him? According to bvs they buried him in small bills right in front of his house, but then they dig him in some non descrip graveyard. And what did the government bury? And where do they think they buried Clark Kent?
Should have green screened Greg's mustache out same as in the movie 😆
Justice league sucks #ReleaseTheSnyderCut
Do it WB, you fucking cowards!
Triggered that they'll defend this and not bvs. I fucking love this crew 🤣🤣🤣
Kevin's outfit made watching this movie worth it
What pisses me off is that Snyder always uses his budget wisely and in his other two films the CGI is flawless, fluid, and flows seamlessly. Then Joss gets his hands on it and it fuckin crumbles. I have no doubt in my mind that if he had finished it, it would've been one of the most visually stunning films in the DCEU. Just better in general. Fuck man.
What if they just pixellated Superman's face and had characters mentioning his horrible case of mono?
God damn it kevin
Just in time for dinner. It’s about to be a good one!
1. Wonder Woman
2. Batman v Superman
3. Birds of Prey
4. Justice League
5. Man of Steel
6. Suicide Squad
Kids, don't drink pepsi, or you'll end like uncle Nick
The only reason I am happy that I watched Justice League is because right now I learned that Ozzy says "ALL ABOARD" at the beginning of Crazy Train.....this is the only good thing to come from the DCEU.
“And then he head butted Wonder Woman into the ground.”
“So dope”
This got me. Lol.
45:15 I am in journalism school right now and giving your sources is almost as important as the article for us. I don't know if it gets less strict as you get into the working world but they stress it as if it is. (More so than just your a student prove you talked to people way)
I watch this at least once a week😂
I really really really need another Superman movie with Henry Cavill. Supermans entrance at the end of Justice League is incredible. Bright colored suit, saying a couple quick quirks and just beams hopefulness. Just give us one more shot with him as superman. please
The weird thing is how you guys seems to blame Zack Snyder for every fault and praise Josstice League. I guess we’ll see in a few days whose cut is better, but man some of y’all really hate on Zack I guarantee you that shitty opening credit sequence ain’t in his cut.
"Everybody knows" chose Joss Whedon.
Hmm kinda wish y’all had more knowledge about the Snyder Cut. It would make your info and opinions more cement.
A Christ-like gold globe? 🤔🤔🤔
I love Kevin. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This films biggest shame (on a long, long list) is not having a Batman fight similar to the Warehouse scene in BvS. If this film had one sequence that was equal to that scene it would be somewhat watchable.
Squad goals
Zack confirmed on Vero that the opening montage was NOT a cover song! He said Junkie’s score plays during the opening montage. Y’all need to get the facts straight...most of your complaints are Joss Whedon’s doing.
that's exactly what they should be doing with this review, most of their complaints were from Whedon
Kevin O’Doghair Joss Whedon reshot and put together a movie from the scrap heaps of garbage Scott Snyder left behind in less than 6 months.
I’m waiting on #ZackSnydersJL
#Releasethesnydercut
It Breaks my heart hearing Greg talk about this movie.... he loves DC so much and is a true fan. Its not fair that WB did this to people like him. All we can do now is FIGHT! #ReleaseTheSnyderCut
@@DanV900 you realize that Zack has been in no way shape or form been associated with any DC film since he finished production on his version of justice league so that version of Cassandra Cain was in no way shape or form any doing of Zack Snyders.
I don't like this film but the line "praise to the mother of horrors" is a superb line.
Can I sit here for 2.5 hours and listen to everyone talking about the disaster that is Josstice League, while knowing Greg is the only one that pays attention to the RTSC stuff? Probably not unfortunately
29:14 that was the sadest and most depressed release the Snyder’s cut ☹️
My ranking
1. BvS Ultimate Edition ( masterpiece)
2. Man of steel ( best origin story)
3. Aquaman ( unique)
4. Wonder woman ( epic period piece )
5. Birds of prey ( colourful)
6. Shazam ( fun)
7. Justice League ( a mediocre ensemble )
8. Suicide squad ( below average )
Has it been confirmed that Henry Cavill won't return as Superman? I remember that one day when all that news came out about it, but they never seemed to be confirmed.
Even as someone who isn't a DC fan, I would be really disappointed if that was the case.
