I agree that the manuals cannot beat the new auto, but a manual is just more fun to me. I feel like if you go up against something with 100 more hp, you will struggle to keep up. Imo . Love the videos

Yawn! Yea, we all now know that "The automatic shifts faster" blah, blah, blah. You've proven it. It's been proven by science....I just like driving a manual. I don't race. "The Point" is, I don't "Blow By Cars That Are Faster". I also don't lift weights. I don't need to have big muscles to flex or have a faster car to be the great, manual driving, people-love-me, person that I am. Let's all get passed this, please...You drive an automatic because you can go faster and I drive a manual because I like shifting. PERIOD!
Naw! Just older and tired of hearing the same old crap, year after year, day after day. "Ford vs. Chevy", "Manual vs. Automatic".
it's not about an 8 speed transmission shifting quicker but rather the gear ratios. Lower gears on take off and higher gears for top end which is basically just like on a bike, the small little gears keep you cranking out speed.
Another benefit of manual when somones next to you. You can throw them in their seat every shift for fun 😂

Yes. A modern automatic will beat a manual in a drag race just about every time. The opposite was true, 40 years ago. That auto will just accelerate better than any manual, and if you want to drag your car, that's the way to go.
That said, I still prefer a manual. They're more fun for daily driving, and better on a tight track.
Some cars with the 400 turbos was awesome even back then. Seen alot of sticks get beat by them.
Nice 👍 the more automatic gears a car has the more it pushes. Every time it shifts at the higher rpms your keeping the constant hp @ that rpm/hp. Making a mean machine. Even the v6 with 8 gears is a beast. Nice clean looking car. 👌
I agree about the 8 speed trans, I’ve got one in my V-6 300C, and along with a CAI, my car really woke up performance wise!
Never heard so much bullshit in my life. That guy with the 5.0 can't drive if you took him out I eat Challenger R/Ts for lunch and my car is a 6 speed 2012 5.0 simple bolt ons. The problem is that people don't know how to race with a manual anymore that's why everyone wants the new auto cause it's easy. Any way I will love to drag race that R/T with my 5.0 any day

I got my 2012 Charger V6 because of the 8-speed for the gas mileage and increased 0-60 over the 5-speed. Now got the 8-speed in my 2018 Charger R/T and it was definitely worth waiting to get a R/T for the 8-speed to become standard. That and the exhaust now being a lot better stock.

This cat is hilarious! I have a 2013 RT with a cool air induction, bbk shorty headers, bbk performance throttle body with mid muff delete. I’ve had Camaros and Stangs and this car is all its hyped up to be.

Regardless of who won, manuals are a thousand times more fun to drive than automatics. I am still surprised you beat that 5.0 Mustang, the big advantage he had was weight. However there's a lot to racing, skill, weight, gears, tires, and the most overlooked and maybe most important factor engine torque.

I find this hard to believe I went from a 15 GT to a 17 scatpack Charger! My mustang was able to stick close to a scatpack and a scatpack is a lot faster than that 5.7! I think there’s more to this story!
Scatpack Mustang you can’t resist that torque from the scat that the mustang lacked! I had a stand but that Hemi is on another level imo 👍
Grocery Getter once a tune is done on a mustang or camaro it's over. I just seen a company offering a tune for the scatpack for 600! This 5.7 little hemi is the slowest v8 out there!
Scatpack Mustang The bottom line is, the Mustang, Camaro, 392, 5.7...these cars are all a blast to own and drive, look great, and the enjoyment we all get out of them is something that most people just don't understand. As far apart as a lot of us are on which is the better car, and like it or not, that thread ties us all together because we are in this small automobile niche that keeps us all talking. We all need to be grateful these car companies give us these machines to love.
But once a scatpack is tune with the mustang and camaro. It goes back to the scatpack for the win. Mustang is the best car for easy upgrades. I seen that 600 tune. That alone is a great deal. Just think most of the 2 doors cars and only keep up with the 4500lb 4 door beast. Not far to line up a tune car vs a stock car.
Jimi Mack for sure. Wish Chaney and Ford would get more into this muscle car time. The ss was a great car but Chevy did a bad job on marketing it. That's why it gone. Hope dodge keeps up the sedan muscle cars. These charger scatpack and hellcats are just beast.

Those 5.7 hemi are underated those really really pull becuase of the mid torque range in the rpm
Just very old pushrod tech with only fair amount of hp per liter compared to modern engine tech.
Automatics really do shift way faster than a manual but a manual is so much more fun.
I wanna see how the R/T 8 speed auto adds up to an R/T classic 5 speed auto with procharger SC under the hood + dyno. If you're beating 5.0's...and a procharged 5 spd breezes past them....it shall be interesting.
Lol dyno is for testing that’s not a mod
@@marcovicencio1 dyno testing can get you the information for when youre going to tune the car, and there are dyno tunes out there, so it is a modification.
If I didn't live in Pa. The right side of our magnificent country. I would be victorious in combat with my T/A 392. With "her" ZF German 8 speed auto. We would roll @ 40 mph beep 3 times then I would paddle shift her to second and floor the peddle at the same time. Then allow the 8 speed to shift via her computer @ 6100 + rpm's. Try it out bro, that speed & R's, put our Chally's at the best torque curve to pull, "Howl & Growl", for max performance...
I still have my 2014 Dodge Charger R/T Supercharged in Header Orange and it still purs just like the first day I bought it. I actually thought about a Challenger I just couldn't do the 2 doors. Beautiful car though.

I have a charger 5.7 Hemi with a few mods like upgraded intake, exhaust, and new heads. My car is an automatic. I am frankly surprised at the cars that I beat in my charger.

I know the the auto is faster but at the end of the day I would buy the manual over the auto. The Mustang you raced was a 435 hp and from 2018 they are now 460 hp. Even still he must have missed 3rd gear or he would have pulled on you in the top end. The 2018 manual gt`s have a less favorable gear ratio but more hp.
I do understand having an automatic transmission in a track car on a track...but for drag racing, I would ban automatics. It is no skill to defeat a manual in an automatic car. On a track, cornering bla bla...it's different. Not being anyhow against the guy in the video, he said actually the same thing, just speaking 'bout the topic

I believe the transmission did make a difference. Technically has gotten so advance that automatic transmission is surpassing the manual. For this reason I would rather get an automatic transmission mustang. Love the feel of the manual but racing wise automatic will be better.

8 speed automatic and dodge down played the 5.7 its really making close to 395hp from factor not 375hp. Intake And exhaust should make it well over 400hp

The auto is the exact reason you won. I'll still take my M6 in my (cammed) SRT every day over an auto though! Curious to know your distances you guys ran too.
they run about an 1/8th mile, solid race and is pretty important.
Autos are best for drag racing.(that's why NHRA cars are autos) Manuals are best for circuit racing. (That's why F1 and Drift cars are manuals)

Manual transmissions are more fun, you are more in tune with the car. Automatics have been faster for over 10 years now. As soon as Porsche started saying that the tiptronic was the better performing version of the 911 back in the early 2000's, the writing was on the wall for manual transmissions performance wise. Anyone who says manuals are faster these days is misinformed.

I like both cars, but the fact remains that the R/T is around the same price as a Mustang GT. Look on Autotrader. Brand new. The GT is the same price, if not cheaper in some cases. In our day and time, a 5.7 litre should be laying out at least 450 horses. It's a sin that Dodge is selling a car with a V8 and under 400 horses for over $30k. The current Challenger R/T is a $27k car, tops.

I do a 0-60 in 4.9 in my 2018 RT challenger and I beat 5.0s below the year 2018 all the time..

MAKES SENSE TO ME... 6SPEED VS A 8 SPEED, WHICH IS COMPUTER CONTROLLED... IVE EVEN SAW A MUSTANG HAD A HARD TIME TAKING ON A CHARGER 5.7... BUT NOT ON A DIG, BUT A 50MPH ROLL... LOL
Launching a manual transmition is hard as fuck but if you wouldve done roll races at 40mph the mustang wouldve won 😂 shifting fast is not hard its just getting the most power off of 1st gear without spinning. But definitely i own an 8speed challenger too and automatic is so much fun 😂😂😂😂😂

Those guys are just really not skilled at shifting quickly and also reaction time is everything in drag racing! Especially if you are the underdog, your reaction time has to be quicker than lightning.
