Putting a Hellcat Blower on an RT? Fantastic or a Terrible Idea?
Вставка

- In this installment I show you a subscriber's 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T; however, this is no ordinary R/T. He decided to increase his horsepower by adding the supercharger directly off of a hellcat. Chris will share his journey with you and tell you if he would advise putting a hellcat supercharger on your 5.7 or 6.4 hemi. Do you like his build?

The RT should’ve always stayed the top trim on Chargers and Challengers. The RT badge has heritage and weight behind it. Its pedigree.
RT used to mean something but it became the pedestrian car in V6 or V8 narrow body form. The rental car trim.
Even for the trucks mines an SLT Plus, so its missing leather seats and wheel and two speakers from a 90s early 00s Laramie. Now Laramie is a tick above mid level. Even worse with RAM adding Tungsten now 😂 it’s basically just about the appointments and not the heritage.
which r/t has a v6?
I have a 1994 ram Laramie slt without leather
R/T scat pack stock for stock is quite the contender.
@eskiiedup I think the econobox r/ts. So like the journy and stratus
Hellcat blower on a stock rt block is the most Floridian thing I’ve seen in a long time, I love the video, we need power numbers…
I'd do it just for the sound😂
He need to let things breathe better at least some long tubes headers
hellcat headers are sitting in the garage waiting for install.@@user-lp5tn9so6s
I'm a Florida man myself aswell. And I can confirm that 5.7 hemis with a hellkitty blower is one of unexplainable goals.
Made 850 running 18psi ported by kong 1300cc injectors e85 122mm throttle body 2 demon pumps and a boost a pump injectors are at 60%
Yes definately! I am in the process right now. I picked up another 5.7 block, remachining it, forged rotating stroked to 6.4 and of course the 2.4 IHI blower. I am going to machine most parts like the adapter plates cause i have a full machine shop with cncs. I am documenting this build. 2023 RT Shaker.
Keep us posted!
@@ragingbull3406 most definately
Good luck with your build man, looking foward too see your vid, soon i wish to start wrenching.
What are your plans for the hood scoop? I have a Scatpack shaker. ;
@@bailey9r yes mine is a Shaker also, I will see if I can fab somekind of mount, either on the blower or to the hood room permitting. I ve seen one guy had incorporated the Shaker to the hood. Either way I will post pictures or a vid.
I love my 5.7 R/T! I only paid 4K for it and have enjoyed it for the last 3 years. Plenty of power and 230k miles and running strong
What year r/t
@@FreeStyleProduction8 07
230K? I was/ am worried about buying a high mileage muscle car. How many miles did you put on it?
@@clydezackery_hootie26 I put on the last 65k
@@clydezackery_hootie26muscle cars last they are American
Yes! We aren’t left out anymore, you have the perfect channel to put out the knowledge
You’ve done this to a R/T as well?
That's what hot rodding is all about, taking parts from something else and making them work for you. Nice.
People have been doing similar in the mustang world for 20+ years the dodge guys are behind lol...people stuff 03-04 cobra blowers on mach 1s and gt and pre 2003 cobras that were na stock. People put 07 up gt500 blowers on 3v cars and even coyotes. Now people run the newest gt500 blower on the coyotes. People do it in the gm world too when they run zl1 and zr1 and ctsv blowers on other ls engines that didn't come supercharged.
Well, since this video isn't about Mustangs, it's kind of meaningless no?
Not really what's meaningless was his comment about people doing it back then, like okay? @@7t2z28
Never thought about that but you're totally right. The new age of hot-rodding is bad ass
Love to see you putting content for RTs too!
This is an amazing build. Someone should put a complete kit to purchase. Im excited to see what comes next.
As far as the 10lbs of boost and borrowed time, I've been driving since 2008 with my 2006 dodge magnum 5.7 procharged. Dropped 2 pully sizes in 2010. Running 9-10 psi boost with no issues until 2022. Lost a small piece of piston and it flatten the spark plug. Put new plug in and runns good no oil,no smoke for over 2 years now. I hope i didn't just jinx myself. 😂
mraoj... i was taught to add ring gap for boost.... theres a formula for it if i remember right.... could too small of a ring gap be what tore your piston ul? just curious this fella didnt mention it except that it was all stock....
TA life told me he was working on one.
Don't worry your pistons are just disintegrating
One of the big dyno shops in this area told me the 5.7 engines actually hold boost better than the 6.4 cars.
You have to ring gap the pistons on the 6.4, then you're good to go... the tranny will hold up to 700hp
6.4s are specially made for N/A power, they have higher compression rates and thinner walls.
Yeah, boost a scatpack and it’ll blow. Dodge wants you to buy the Hellcat if you wanna go Hellcat speeds lol
@@Torrious it will blow because the 392 compression numbers are higher and for boost lower compression is better. The heads on the 392 won’t handle the boost
Sure do!
Now this is what I love to see on the channel!!!!
Yes it's definitely worth it, I did my R/T with the new Magnuson 2650, fully forged bottom end and full bolt on from the back to the front, 12lbs of boost. 10.83@131.6MPH, 60 foot at 1.58, and it's a 6 speed manual with a RXT Mcloud 1,000.
As someone who is a moron and doesn't know anything mechanically, is the blower and supercharger to separate things? I want to do it to my rt but I'm not sure where or what to buy
@@scarrevan6311you’re not a moron just getting into something new bro. But a blower is a usually a supercharger
Great build sir
10.83 is pretty fast
@alexandermgarcia6910 when I was stock motor with a 2300 Magnuson supercharger on 8lbs of boost with shorty headers I was a low 12 second car even achieved a few high 11.9 at 118MPH with a drag pack 17inch wheels, if you like drag racing get your self a set of 17 inch wheels, you'll be way faster then you are now that's my advice.
@@scarrevan6311A supercharger is a belt driven "air pump" of 2 or 3 different configurations, all are referred to as blowers then there are turbochargers that are exhaust flow driven. The superchargers are instant punch when you hit the gas cause the belt is always turning BUT it can take 100 HP to turn the belt and the turbocharger needs to "spool up" so there is a small lag as power builds but doesn't take HP to run. I have had 4 or 5 turbo cars and if balanced right (size of turbo to cubic inch engine) there is very little noticeabl lag.
That is so awesome. I love it. So unique and different. Props to that guy's for ingenuity and thinking outside the box
I’m proud of you Chris!! You and Trent did amazing! I want another ride in her soon!! ♥️
Thanks for posting RacerX. This is the type of grass roots building and racing for the working class mopar guy who dreams about the cars you and Herm have!
Very nice Chris. Thanks for the RT content RacerX. 5.7's deserve love too. lol.
ill try to provide more on my own channel as well im new to this.
This is EXACTLY the video i needed. I know were my Rt future is.

What a cool build! Sounds amazing.. answers a ton a questions. Awesome upload,X👊
Thanks racer x for sharing these awesome videos 😊
Super cool build! Keep us updated!
Wicked rt, sounds sweet! Great vid racerx
It’s been done before him already but it’s great he’s another guy that has shown it’s doable.. thank you great show..
Exactly and the guy is in Florida! He has a hellcat and demon blower on the rt!
Wow what an informative video and owner. Big thanks. Ive been holding out on mkdding my 5.7 for something like this. Been following this mod for a while waiting for solid parts and tuning support. Thanks for this vid.
FrankieD SRT in Germany 🇩🇪. Freaking amazing 🤩. I had 2 RT Challengers and wished that I had done something more to them. Now I have a Durango SRT and am contemplating doing something to my 6.4!🤗. Great job my friend 🎉
Nice job Chris! Super Clean Supercharged 5.7 you have there!! Very nice 👍
Pretty cool! Even R/Ts need love too! Would love to see how the rest of the block holds up in the long run.
It should hold up fine at 10 psi with good fuel and tune. The 5.7 is a decent boost motor much better than the 392s.
Easily can make post red eye numbers
This guys being a pussy with boost
Great video RacerX and that is a truly awesome machine
Wow, sweet setup and that drive sounds humming awesome..... gives a lot of people some inspiration! Also, got my admiration.
Great video Racer X! Thanks!
Wow shout out to Chris what a awesome build. I love the RT trime myself. The 5.7 is so Reliable. Great vidoe X
I love how you asking all the right questions
Super cool. Love it! I agree with him keep RT badging. Nice innovation. Enjoy my RT plus charger - but that sound is intoxicating!!
Great job!! Nice job Chris… love it brother!!
i would love some more RT coverage though!
Great video! Thanks for sharing the potential these 5.7s have. I am running 12 pounds on my 5.7 AWD hellcat blown Charger and it dynoed at 577hp. If anyone is curious about the install process, there are detailed videos on my channel with dyno pulls
I have a 2014 challenger can it still work if I put a hellcat supercharger on it ?
@@LKfoodstuff yeah, it’ll work for 2005 and up models

dooooo itttt
Been four years? Don't wait till it's old news ;
@bailey9r I was originally leaning toward the procharger route, but I started seeing these amd was kinda waiting for this to be more readily available/proven and for the favtory warranty to expire before I went crazy with the mods
I’m surprised that they haven’t been doing this since the hellcat came out.
@@kevinhahn2111have I started modding it ?? I have a 21 charger rt and want to do the same build this guy has
Chris says: if we blow the block we'll put another one in. 😂😂 I love his attitude. I've been pondering doing this to my 2019 Scat but was hesitant for that reason ...now we know it can be done. Thanks Racer X for always great content and kudos to Chris ,thanks for sharing .
You can’t do it with the scat the 6.4 have different internals
I love everything about this build
Really cool putting that blower on the R/T. Always wondered how putting a blower on the R/T would work. Thanks for bringing this man on here. Best of luck to him with that.😎
Perfect timing video I've been looking todo this setup for my 5.7
Great video.. guy has super touch and blower choice.. well done
Love this build having an R/T myself and planning to do a procharger.
What a clean little build 👏
The RT package was always the greatest looking Challenger to me… LOVE these wheels!
😮this is so cool i❤it congratulations 🎊 gotta love it 😊thanks for sharing brother
Nice to see you reaching the smaller models
God bless ya! That's the way it's done - built not bought. My hat's off to you. Well done and congratulations on the build. I'm too chicken.
Love those heritage wheels and styling👌👍
Amazing work!👍
Ive seen quite a few do it here in The panhandle of Florida. The stock 5.7 pistons do not like crazy amounts of boost. Out of the 3 I've personally seen/helped on 2 were on around 8-10 psi and ran at the 430-440 whp on 93. The other was a max effort on 12-14 psi made 475whp before detonation took out the piston. Now its got a forge bottom end running a little over 500whp.
Great content as always
Do a follow up video
Everyone loves the underdog (RT)
Great video! I've never thought about having a supercharger on my Rt Challenger, after seeing this video I am looking at a pro charger setup! I'd really like to do a turbo overall because of not wanting belt driven performance.
What an awesome build
We need more of this car no doubt
I’m a relatively new viewer and Muscle car (new and old) enthusiast. That’s my S550 in my thumbnail… I really love all of your content. You’re very informative and everything’s very well done! Keep up the fantastic work you’re doing! Also, where can I get one of your black “RacerX” hats? Went to the “store and couldn’t find it….
Nice build great job! We whippled our 5.7 Durango and 5.7 Challenger. No regrets! Ended up swapping and strokering the Challenger aswell. 😅

Really nice build!!
Love it!! Would like to do this to my Charger Pursuit but since mine is AWD not sure if the transfer case could handle it.
Great stuff! was actually looking into do this with an r/t charger for some extra oomph
This deserves more likes!
This is added to my Bucket list!

Guess you're not worried about forged Internals? That is really cool. Glad it's working for you. Been wanting to procharge my RT.
Nice vid Mr. X! 🫡🔥🔥
Could you do a video on long-term reliability of aftermarket upgrades? Like porting the blower, cam upgrades, e85 etc

I’ve always wanted to do that to a R/T so I’m glad I came across this video. My first car is a R/T charger and I was wondering how a supercharger would look and what will I need to change just to make it work
I had a 2014 RT with an Edelbrock supercharger kit. Yeah I know the feeling!!
Great Video.
This is so cool. The 5.7 has its downsides, but it's an amazing platform that people overlook
Chris is apart of the car group I'm in awesome build
6:41 I was thinking the same thing.
🤔🤔🤔🤔 I have a 21' R/T and man I like this.
I'm in the process of slapping one on my 2018 R/T Shaker been watching alot of videos so keep them coming
I love the R/T's .they are like a top bread blood line..waaaay back in time😈
Rt love my next build. Love it
Cool build with an oem look, I like it.
What a lot of people don’t realize and Dodge won’t ever advertise this, but talking to a bunch of different engineers. They say that the 57 is Dodgers corporate engine and it can take any modification that you pretty much due to it one of the reasons why you can run so much pounds of boost on it is because the walls of the 57 are a lot thicker than the other hem. Therefore gap in the piston rings and put a blower on there. You can actually get 600 to 750 HP
Right on brother nice sleeper.
thank you
I definitely want to see an update on this car.!
wow that is a beautiful car
Cool car.
Be interesting to see how it holds up.
Wowwww that car is amazing 🔥🔥🔥Good Work Man That R/T is definitely a sleeper u can tell 💪🏼😮💨😮💨😮💨
Interesting. I always wondered if you could do that. Cool.
Awesome that it works. If he is fairly easy on it and doesn't do back to back to back runs at the strip it should be fine. Just don't do long hard pulls with that much boost without gaping the rings. It is easy but overlooked because it is time consuming and once the motor is apart many figure that they might as well throw internals at it. Gapping the rings will cost nothing with some restraint avoiding buying beefed up parts.
Good job!
First ❤ nice video racer
Always wanted to get an r/t and do this it’s such a unique route to go. For the money I’ve put into my truck lifting it and everything I could’ve had a nicely built r/t by now🤦🏽♂️.

I so want to get some Eagle heads, a Hellcat blower, and put them on the 5.7 in my regular cab 2005 Daytona edition RAM 1500 truck. I just put a new rebuild engine in it back in April of 2023. It's fully broke-in now, and I would love to modify it.
That sounds good. I been thinking of putting one on my Scat Pack.
I had a twin turbo 16' SXT Challenger
it was pretty sick i miss it.
made 520crank and around 478whp @20psi
I've heard this was possible, but have not seen it done until now. I've heard the 392 intake is a good option too, although it doesn't have a blower.
We need an update after he gets it dynoed!!! I want to do this with my R/T Daytona!
probably anout 550-600 whp anything more u gotta forget those pistons
ill schedule a dyno soon. ill make a video and post it to my page.
