Hi there Senan hope this finds you well and blessed . My husband asks me to write to you and thank you for another amazing video . He appreciated how you explain and show the baits and techniques so thoroughly . He really though you did a great job .
Thanks Keane. My Stillwater Flyfishing videos never do as good as my pike or trout videos but it’s nice to balance them out, the more variety the better . ☺️ will be doing a lot at Laois angling centre for the next few weeks, it’s my go to place in the colder months 🙌
Well lad been watching a few of your videos on UA-cam theyre quality..I see you visit laois angling centre quite a bit and manage to pull out the big lads regularly, any particular colour you find works best and or what particular fly you found gets them more than others?
Thanks David. You can often sightfish the big fish patrolling the edge of the lake, getting them to feed is the only problem. A simple egg fly fished under an indicator can tempt them, it’s a matter of persistence though, 9/10 times they will swim past and ignore it. Other than that, keeping on the move, and stripping a big humongous can get a reaction off the larger trout. It’s all trial and error really, I’m no expert over there compared to the competition fly anglers but you will figure out their habits the more you are there. They really are fish of habit.
Nice video man, im living in scotland now started on the fly last year, i didnt know we had stocked lakes like this at home, must take a look next time im over, keep up the good work
Thanks Gerard! There’s a few lakes here now that have the rainbows stocked, Laois angling centre and Ardaire springs would be big ones, there’s a few on the other side also uo the Wicklow direction, and a few more up the north also, thanks bud 👌🎣
Should pick up more and more as the temperatures drops over there, I love it over the Christmas period, they really get the blood pumping when it’s freezing outside 🎣🤘 tempting one of the huge browns is tough but they are savage fighters 👌
@@senanstanleyfishing .. was up at lake today got lovely trout on it 6 pound. Your video really are deadly keep up good work I used same technique was this video and it worked first cast…
Lovely video senan 👍 are you aware of any good spot for fishing in Dublin? Been fishing the canal/Liffey with no luck, would love to find some pike near
Thanks bud. 👍 I’d say the Liffey gets hammered but I’m sure there’s still some fish in it somewhere 🐊 I wouldn’t be up that direction too often so I’m not the best lad to ask I’m afraid 🎣
I was using 6lb maxima fleuro with some frog hair 4x tippet , fairly simple set up, nothing crazy 😁👌 didn’t really try many other dries but im sure they would have worked 👌
Was doing a few weekends there but I’m all done for the year man, boat in the shed and engine gone for yearly service, Derg floods badly here in winter so it’s not worth the hassle after November ☺️ will be back out on the lake from around February onwards
Ah thats fair enough, floods are bad everywhere in fairness. Derg is a dangerous place in bad weather probably for the best. Catch ye in the new year maybe.
Hi, great video, would love to fish that lake. Was the Humungus fly all white including the body? Keep them coming as I’ve just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Bob. 👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Thanks bob! Ya that one was all white with silver eyes for the head, generally all black humongous work best for me on this lake. Black, white or olive usually do the trick. ☺️🎣 thanks for the support, I will be back over here around the Christmas period, they add in some larger fish around those dates, it’s good action 🎣
