I've never fly fished yet I have a fly road and reel and a box of flys all hand made from every type of flys to spiders to bugs I'm going to give it a try now especially since watching this video. I love all the videos you make they teach me to fish better and put more on the bank cheers Senan and again congratulations on your pb trout it was a monster.

Well Senan nice catches , what size and type of hook should I use if I’m fishing a worm and bubble float on the worm and fly only lake becouse i don’t seem to be able to catch them and I don’t know if I’m doing anything wrong

I’m hooking 7 pound 9 pound fish on humongous flys to but the hooks are bending and one even broke just as I was netting the fish I won’t say the name of the place we are buying them or it’s a trusted website in Scotland Have you ever had this problem.. thanks
Hi Gary, ya the ones I use have the same problem, I get them from troutfliesuk, they bend after each big fish so they are only good for one fish really, I think they are like 50cents so I don’t mind too much, but ya-the quality is absolutely garbage. 😂
@@senanstanleyfishing sometimes it's easy. Not the now way this weather up here everywhere is frozen solid. Ice skating instead fishing the now. Yer videos are quality them all the pike roach a watch them all. That's a cracking boat ye have aswell do grand up here on the Lake Menteith.
Ya this weather isn’t the best I’m not a big fan of winter fishing either 🥶 check them out Sheelin Lake boats, they deliver pretty far from what I know, lovely safe boats in bad weather too 👍
id highly recommend giving Ardaire springs angling centre out. it can be harder fishing but every trout in there is a monster ive caught my 13lb personal best out of that place
Thanks David 👌 that line is actually brilliant, super cheap it’s a leeda slow sinking intermediate, got it two years ago now and find it hard to use anything else when after the rainbows, cheap as chips. 😅👍

Great video Senan. Complelety unreleated but as someone who catches hundreds of trout in little rivers, have you ever had success for small trout on soft plastics?
I normally fish there, but it’s much slower then the fly lake, smaller fish but perfect eating size, another thing is it’s always much quieter, try fish near the benches that’s were they all are!
Sorry to say that was my place to fish and my best there was 30 pounds Rainbow 20 pound brown con from Athlone moved from Roscrea to Athlone got married to a gorgeous woman she’s my life.

Do you have maybe some tips where I can go where it doesn’t cost much or is public river maybe and nice to fish for trout and maybe even salmon? My family is living near Sligo. Would be glad to hear any new ideas that are not the usual lists you know. Has not to be the top notch stuff. A friend of mine has ownership in the Delphi lodge and I could go there too. But maybe a bit early to start there as a first visit.
Hi Robbie, that’s not correct at all, I work full time Monday to Friday so the only time I fish it is Saturday and Sundays once in a blue moon with the rest of the public 👍 maybe other UA-cam channels would do that sort of thing but not this one, thanks.

Hi ya I use the Berkley honeyworm and also Libra lures larva on the river for the trout, on a .7g and 1g jig , works great for the trout 👍

9ft 5 or 6 weight rod and you won’t go wrong ☺️ floating line is fine for nearly everything
