Who else is in a phase where they just wanna runaway into the woods and live there forever in like a lil house that somehow has WiFi and just vibe with the mushrooms and frogs?🍄🐸
to me, each EP has its own vibe to it. Notos is about breaking chains and leaving things behind. Eurus is about exploring new things, and discovering the truth behind old ones. Boreas is about seeing the reality of the world, and accepting yourself and your place in it. and Zephyrus is becoming whole, rediscovering a world you can feel home in. that's what it is to me, at least. beautiful songs, all of them. i'd love to hear what others think it's about.
OHMIGOSH!! THE OH HELLOS!! I LOVE THE OH HELLOS!!! 💖💖💖💖💖 Their songs are so lovely! I especially love their Dear Wormword album but their other songs are so magnificent ✨✨✨
re-listening to this, i'm just dumbfounded at how fascinating it all is. the oh hellos don't seem as much people as they do beings brought from another realm to tell is the tales of a world with more whimsy and magic than ours ever could have.
It's funny, the Anemoi albums are _deeply_ political. Despite their timeless sound they're heavily couched in the years from 2016 to 2020 that they were written and released. "Father Ignorance will make brothers of us all as he sets our torch aflame, chasing down the flimsy specters that we co-create," feels almost _about_ the Charlottesville marches. "In the end all I hope for is to be a bit of warmth for you when there's not a lot of warmth left to go around," is so deeply Quarantine. They're about the breaking of a worldview and the building of something new. Realizing that who you've been calling your people and what you've been calling your faith have become something that thrives on hate and fear, less of Christ and more of the Romans who killed him. And how building back from your whole world changing is long and painful, but we aren't alone, and devotion to our fellow people -- be they people we love or people we don't even know -- can fill that space more fully than any other experience on this earth. Of course, the sound is fantastical and antique, and the political commentary is dressed in a beautiful garment of folk and religion and poetic abstraction. But I think that's why the song _Boreas_ in particular is so impactful to me; it suddenly strips all that away, letting us confront the bare emotion behind it. Maggie and Tyler make such gorgeous things, but they're are also people who have dull routines and hate doing laundry and struggle with harmful coping mechanisms and sometimes have to lay on the floor because they can't bring themselves to do anything else. I think seeing them as "different" from us keeps us from enjoying this art to the fullest. It can transport us to another world, but at its core it's about finding purpose in our own.
Words cannot describe how absolutely insane I go every single time the song transitions into another. Like- I’m not even kidding, I am genuinely so addicted to it😭 it is peak music tbh (I will literally never get tired of listening to this edit. Thanks for making it so I can fully enjoy the music without (as many) as interruptions!!)
Wooohoooo! Finally most of their songs! I have been searching for them for years now and now you, extremely inteligent and goodhearted person, upload this absolute bangers in one single video. I don't have enough words to describe the kindness of yours, thank you so very much!! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
there is! though the oh hellos said on twitter that it doesn’t mean anything specifically; they just wanted to convey the feeling of sending a telegram
I LOVE the seamless transition from "Notos" to "Madatory Evac / Counting Cars"
REAL

I was listening to Brazilian music from 1977 and ended up here.

The Oh Hellos' lyrics also have interesting Biblical references, makes it extra cool:)
