- One of the BRAND NEW Volvo XC90 HEMS Critical Care Units used by the Wales Air Ambulance is seen responding to pick up the helicopter crew from the Air Ambulance which had landed in Ponty Park to transport them to the scene of a serious incident at Pontypridd bus station.
The helicopter can also be seen taking off from the park, along with other videos of police cars from South Wales Police, Fire engines from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and ambulances from the Welsh Ambulance Service.

0:07 That lightbar flash pattern is really effective. Bright, slow, simple.
agreed 👍
Light setup is made by Standby in Trollhättan if im not wrong. They make almost all light setups in sweden nowdays
I believe the Skoda Police car is being used for training, I’ve spotted it around South Wales a few times over the last couple of weeks
It's very good for medical things, when it's is being pushed off from police.
only driver in it so who was he training?
@@downtheshedwithjason look again, people in the back
@@Piglife101 well i did you the courtesy of re looking and i stand by my comment. However i will give you and i only say for sure from the rear view of the vehicle but it does look like someone in the rear passenger side. If it was training the instructor would be in the front passenger seat, with pupil driving, or pupil in front passenger taking instructions whilst others sit in rear listening and learning. just my view.
Well timed. Great work these air ambo crews do.
thanks for watching, and they sure do 💪
Title: RUSHING (shows the crew walking to car) 😉
Always love seeing an “Air” ambulance car… bit of an oxymoron 😂. Also, if that’s them rushing, I’d hate to see them taking their time.
They don't run to reduce risk of injury to themselves. If just one becomes injured it could jeopardise the whole rescue operation.

I don't think anybody got hurt
LOL fr they were walking slow as hell
@@gtigaming3059 yes, they should have run, possibly tripped and lost a crew member. Good thinking!!!
Fast, but without running. Good job.
thought the same 👍
what's wrong with running?
@@carminemartino1197 You don’t want to risk arriving late on the scene because you could gain a couple of seconds running while loaded with heavy bags. Most professionals know this well and it is repeated over and over during training but TV cameras on site can change the default behaviour of very smart people.
There are very few life threatening situations where 30 seconds will have an impact on the outcome of an incident. There are a lot of life threatening situations where 15 minutes additional delay due to a sprained ankle can have a significant impact on he outcome of an incident. 15 minutes is rather optimistic. 20-25 minutes is more realistic. Most helikopter ambulances services I have known simply forbid their staff to fly when they have a minor injury. If this sprained ankle happens before the outbound stretch, the heli has to fly to a nearby hospital and pick up a replacement crew member.
Thats a cool system, what we dont have in Germany. Many times the police or civilians do transports. It works but this is definetly better. Great Video! ;)
it’s only used if the helicopter can’t land walking distance near the scene, thanks for for watching!
@@dragonemergencyvideos Yes, i know. In Germany that happens often so it would be a great addition.
@@dragonemergencyvideos that probably would have been the case for me if my bike accident had gone worse. (i was only lightly injured, but a heli was already called as a precaution, they cancelled it 2 minutes after)

Love the skoda police car, we use the same model in New Zealand
Brilliant video. Thanks for sharing

Cool video!
I didn’t know South Wales Police were using Redtronic Spartan lightbars, they look quite nice on that Skoda. Gwent police use the Redtronic Bullitt Basic lightbars on their vans. Same as that Mercedes-Benz Vito at 3:31
God bless 🙌
Hang in a min I live there right next to there and I seen that exact same car omg
I drove a brand new, active duty police car at the weekend, sirens and all and it was amazing 😅 there was just a buzz from hitting the horn and the car coming to life. Can't imagine the adrenaline first responders actually feel!
What brilliant 👏 catches great to watch Thank you 😊 👍
Thanks for watching!
good work
What do you expect in the valleys Buttt 🤣
Epic video mate, great catches!
RUNNING
Thanks for watching!
Awesome
nice
Q7 made me think that speed was 1,5x 😅
nice video why is it in every country people take there time if you see lights and siren get out of the fucking way that something that makes my blood boil
Nice video!
Thanks for watching!
Outro is great !
Can anyone tell me the logistics of this? I’m guessing the car and helicopter didn’t dispatch from the same base at the same time otherwise they would have all gone in the car in the first place? Or is it a case of getting the heli there in case the patient needs transporting to a specialist hospital, but then surely the doctors would still have gone in the car and left heli positioning to the pilots? 🤷♂️
guessing the car got there quicker as it happened to be nearer. however helicopter can still transport the patient to hospital much faster than by ambulance if needed
Good work!!
Thanks for watching!
A year or two back my mate picked up.a helicopter crew attending a real bad RTA he drove them about 2/3 of a mile to sceen and he got a letter of thanks which he has put up.in his toilet along with a photo

I look: THERE WALKING
bro that's like half an hour away I live in aberdare
volvo is nice but does it beat the old audi q7?
I’d figure that they both have a similar sort of practicality. I would say the Volvos cooler simply because I like Volvos but that’s my personal opinion .
Volvo gets my vote
👍👍👍👍👍👍
nice catch. What camera you useing?
Thanks for watching! Sony Ax53
@@dragonemergencyvideos yeah i enjoy watching your content, thanks btw!
cool video, but these medics need to revisit the meaning of "Rusing"
they were walking fast but not running and risking trips and falls
They should have fire ambulance and police lanes in city’s like that like there’s no room
Great catches, I'm curious as to why the ambulances say "Ambiwlans" - is that just the language?
It's Welsh
Yea it is Welsh language 👍
Thanks for watching, and as the others said yeah that’s Welsh
Amazing vid! I though we had a Audi not a Volvo 😅
volvos are the replacements for the old audi q7s
Thanks

the helicopter crew really rushed as they strolled out
They don't run to reduce risk of injury to themselves. If just one becomes injured it could jeopardise the whole rescue operation.
Yeah, run, possibly trip, lose a crew member. Good thinking there.
@@brianbickle7395 probably be better if they were based near the helicopter instead of sending a blue light car to pick them up while they finish there coffee and biscuits
@@downtheshedwithjason stay in your shed.
RESPECT to the helicopter crews, don't get me wrong, i just see the funny side of a crew based miles from the helicopter requiring a blue light marked vehicle to run and pick them up. I mean, why didn't they have a car where they all were to start with. You MUST see the funny side, c'mon. I guess he could have been on an errand just as the call came in, typical, but seriously, thats funny.
Why are air ambulance cars red?
Is it so they don't show blood stains
They are painted in the colours of the air ambulance charity. In this case that's red but some are blue/green etc. They aren't painted to hide blood stains, they wouldn't park close enough for that to be an issue. They wouldn't transfer patients by car (either to hospital or to the helicopter) so if it was an issue they could wipe it clean before leaving the scene.
That looks like a lot of unnecessary time to get the crew to the heli. Here in the states the crews stay with the helicopter at the hangar and have the living quarters attached
the helicopter can’t land in the middle of the town centre so the car came to pick them up
How come the air ambulance have cars? I thought the air ambulance was a helicopter
The air ambulance is staffed by emergency doctors and very highly skilled paramedics who support other paramedics and first responders in major trauma or resusucation. Sometimes it is faster for them to drive to a scene or it would not be possible for the helicopter to land a reasonable distance nearby.
@@jesse5052 ah i see
ps the majority of UK 🇬🇧 ( LOUD N PROUD) Air Ambulances don't fly during the night time but these cars can!!!! and they carry all of A&E life saving equipment immaculately and meticulously stowed in the rear of the vehicle.
FANK LUT WITHOUT RUNNING GOOD JOB
I wouldnt call it rushing but ok lol
Does the vehicle have Air Ambulance written all over it because it's there to pick up the crew? Someone has to land there quite often.
the car is their fast response vehicle which carries doctors from the air ambulance, but in this instance was used to pick them up from the helicopter as they couldn’t land it in the middle of the town
@@dragonemergencyvideos Yes, but for example in Germany there is no vehicle with "Air Ambulance" on it, but simply the next vehicle, e.g. police car or whatever.
6:33 nice mc laren there
i like that e91 at 6:02🙂
That was more walking may wanna change it

Im sorry but what is the point of a helicopter crew if they respond in cars?
the car was picking them up from the helicopter as they can’t land it in the middle of the town centre
@@dragonemergencyvideos so wouldn't an ambulance going lights and sirens be faster than waiting for a helicopter to land outside the city and do a crew change over on a critical patient?
If you have an ALS ambulance that can provide advanced lifesuport you can get to a hospital faster going lights and sirens with constant care for a patient then having to take a basic ambulance with a doctor using basic equipment to go out of town then perform an entire change over to ALS then wait for the helicopter to actually get airborne once the patient is stabilized again, just to fly 5 minutes down the road and have the ambulance that dropped the patient off at the helicopter waiting for them at the hospital.

It’s lovely to see that the money donated by the people of Wales is being “ spent well “ on Audi Q7s…………hmmmmm
You can do better. Hospitals with a decent management team will always buy the sturdiest vehicles with a high average speed and capable of quick reactions. The reason is very simple: emergency staff are incredibly hard to replace and if you don’t provide safe equipment, the staff will quickly leave.
The driving staff at our hospital are specially formed at the elite driving school of the National Police. People don’t realise it but the cars transporting the emergency teams (nurse-driver, emergency physician, emergency technician) have the highest yearly average mileage under sirens and emergency lights. They drive almost always to a patient who has a life threatening condition, they do a lot of second line support when trained people need help. Specifically for my country, the emergency physician at an accident becomes the medical director of the accident scene and in that role, she or he can direct firefighters police. If we can do anything to reduce the stress of their backs and get those people on scene in their best condition, it is our duty to do so.
Regarding brand and model: we work with public tenders, open for all European countries. In our country, we are handled by the official distributors for our country. We pay less for an Audi Q7 than for a Skoda Kodiaq so it always comes down to BMW X5, Mercedes GLE, Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90. In the end, the teams decides what car they want to trust with their lives. We have four cars: three are in use and one used as replacement vehicle during maintenance or used for training purpose. On average, the cars last 1,8 years before reaching 250000 kilometres.
