I love Tom T’s comment at the 8 minute mark. His wife Ms Dixie said, ‘oh come on Tom T, we can’t all be Taylor Swift.’ Tom’s reply is priceless. We booked Tom T at the theater our family owned for 27 years called the Ocean Opry Show at Panama City Beach, FL. .. Back around the mid or late 90s we booked Tom. What a wonderful honor and blessing it was for myself and our family (Rader Family) to spend the day with Tom and his road band. .. Funny story, somehow Tom’s stage suit did not get loaded on the bus. All day long he kept apologizing by saying, “I can’t believe I don’t have my stage attire.” That just made for better atmosphere for the story teller. There will never be another Tom T Hall. And btw, he put on two great shows that day in his reg street clothes and the audience ate it up. Tom T. Hall is truly a common man and an American Icon. May he RIP with Ms. Dixie. Thank you Eddie Stubbs for doing this 7 part interview at the Country Music Hall of Fame for your program that was called, “an intimate evening with Eddie Stubbs.” I wish all of your interviews from that series of different artists would be posted on the WSM APP. It keeps me company while I’m driving down the Hwy.
Talking of the new top banana, that when you become a known entertainer you are replacing someone, a former top banana, My point is this…….Nobody ever filled the space that Tom left vacant when he retired and I’m confident no one ever will now that he has died. “The one, the only, the legend……TTH.
