Man this takes me back too high school with me, and my bro wiring up the 89 Chevy S10 our parents gave us too get back and forth from school, we built a slim box too go behind the bench seat out of cheap scrap pine plywood with 2 10in kickers, Kicker sub, and kicker 120 watt amp wired too a Pioneer SuperTuner, good times, good times indeed. I have noticed however with newer cars, and trucks the Stereos/digital information systems in them for most people are good enough that they don't bother changing them out for anything else, like was done back in the day.
Whoa! You guys read my mind or something. I've been looking to getting a compact powered subwoofer into my KIA Soul so I wouldn't have to take away any room in the cargo area. Except, I don't know how to install it myself.. so off to a local car audio installer xD
If the the system offers some good custom EQ, then I recommend getting a good pair of headphones and listening to your favorite set of songs, then play them on the car stereo, then adjust the EQ to compensate for any areas that the speakers are lacking in.
@DIY tryin You do know u can buy a 15$ ISO plug that go's on the cars wireing harness and connects to the headunit/cd player it saves all the cutting and all thr crimping cables
For my Subaru, yes. For my truck, yes. For a 1992 Volvo w/ a weird ass factory optional amp buried behind the center column... not so simple to track down.
It will fit. But can the electrical sustain that high of an amperage draw? Unless you've got an aftermarket alternator in your toyota, i highly doubt you're getting the full 4000 watts you paid for.

I didn't know about the Kicker Hideaway, I might have to buy one for my car! I have a pretty good Pioneer audio system in my car, but no sub.
It's amazing what a well set up and tuned subwoofer can do for your sound.

if I can fit 2 15" sub's with a 4000 watt amp in a 96 Toyota Tacoma xtra cab you can fit 20 8" sub's in that there volvo
