So, video idea for GT4 specifically - a run where each car you use must be older than the one you used before it. I tried it a few weeks ago and it requires a surprising amount of strategisation.
I was expecting you to just get the Viper and use that for everything until the end, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised by the variety this run had.
Exactly my thought too, was very happy with the end result! The Mustang in particular is now probably my favourite car to just hoon around rally stages with!
This has been an absolutely amazing run to watch, but just a couple points to note After beating GT3 100% twice, i can confidently say that rear downforce is NOT that important. You might as well reduce it and compensate with tires. The game's handling gives the rear tires a lot of leeway, and utilizing them is the only way to go fast. My usual setup for race cars in GT3 is 0 rear downforce and only play with the front downforce. Some cars could use some rear downforce, but that is only added with front downforce. Kinda surprized you didn't try the PT cruiser in the expert FF cup, as that is a genuine challenge if you face the spoon civic. For Monaco, a cool trick is to extend your route all the way to the outside wall, so you can get a better exit to the tunnel. You can gain upwards of half a second if properly done. Next time, if you see Test Course, just skip it and do something else. It is so long that it isn't worth the damage done to the oil, especially in championships. The 10% power reduction is vital when you don't have that much to begin with. On my last run, I left every single Test Course event for the Escudo I won after I beat all the rally races. You could have used the viper against them. If you think the expert GTWC is difficult, then the Expert GT All Starts event pits you against MAXED OUT LM race cars. That along with 15 laps per race is surely a challenge you should try. I remember using the ZZ 2 against them, as it was the only MR-AWD car that can put down all of its power while still being controllable to an extent
Yo, those are actually couple of really good points! The GT40 was indeed surprisingly good with the low(er) rear downforce since I raced it in (as shown at SSR11) in a super aggressive (drifty) way, but I do have to mention that it opened the door a lot for sloppy driving so it was a handful to control. Regardless, it produced a race as memorable as shown in the video :) With the Pro FF cup and All-Stars races - I could keep those in mind for when I want to revisit this some day or have a new challenge in mind. In the context of the playthrough I kinda wanted to not do _too_ much in Pro league (because of how tedious it can be, *looking at you, Vitz Pro cup*) but since they are as you mentioned indeed pretty tough, they will be good as an extra challenge for next time. And lastly, skipping Test Course in this case would've been a bit too punishing, but as you rightfully pointed out, it did hurt me in the long run with the long distance costing me some valuable power later on (although it eventually did not matter much, thankfully).
Can you explain what you mean with the Monaco trick? Do you mean going all the way to the left of the track at the corners after the hairpin, at 1:04:09 of this video?
2:34 NO WAY YOU CALLED THEM EASY!!! Trying to gold b licence was a freaking torture!!!! I spent 4 hours on a test until I decided to quit the game entirely and just speedrun through the licences without getting golds the 2nd time I played the game
@alessandroaleman4512 Most of the NA version’s tests are a lot more lenient. If you had the EU version then you’re indeed SOL when it comes to the difficulty (hence why I spent the extra time trying to do PAL (EU) times on the NTSC (NA) version here).
A friend of mine showed me that they’ve been used in rallying ever since the first generations, so I guess it makes sense that this one also counts in GT3 :)
Very entertaining video. If you ever do another GT3 challenge, 2 things I want to mention: 1. In the beginner league, the AI dont actually have more power in later races, the game just limits their max throttle input. So for example in races 1 and 2 of an event, theyll be at 80% throttle, and at race 3 at 100%. Thats also the case with most championships even in amateur league, thats why the AI is more challenging in the 2nd half of these events. There are actually cheat codes with which you can set the AI to always have 100% throttle input, as well as codes to remove rubber banding. That makes the Beginner and Amateur league more consistent/predictable (especially the championships), challenging and way more fun. 2. Having the pro GTWC as a final challenge is good and fitting, but if you want to go the extra mile, or have an even more challenging final event for a challenge, try the pro league GT all stars championship. Youll also face the 787b, gt one and r390, except that they have huge power buffs. The races are also longer. Its an even wilder championship, and while they do make more mistakes due to their high power, its also even more challenging.
Yeeessss, more GT3 content would be awesome. This and GT2 are my favorite Gran Turismo games. I just love the handling model of these older games over GT4 and the games after. And yes the rally physics on GT3 are absolutely amazing
This is one of the best edited and put together Gran Turismo videos I have seen. Well done I must admit it's been a while since I have seen some of these cars get used. I Forgot the road car gt40 even existed!.
The worst license for me had to be the Rally license on Tahiti Maze where you have to take the five hairpin turns back to back to back. Funnily enough, that test is actually a decent bit harder on NA, being one of the few tests to be made harder for that version.
Buddy of mine daily drives a pt cruiser. Calls it the battle wagon as it carries loads of swords and armour with him to medieval events. hilarious to see it racing against, and beating, performance cars.
Thanks, from what I remember there are efforts being made to port GT Concept's car back into GT3 (AFAIK it's simply called Gran Turismo 3 Concept) and it would obviously be incredibly cool if that would be a full-blown content update!
GT3 with only European road cars. This is going to be a hard challenge too The most difficult part about this challenge would be to acquire a viable starting car. Option 1: Start with the Beetle 2.0, and tune the living daylights out of it Option 2: Start with the Fiat Coupé, but you need to gold a license to be able to afford it Some Euro cars are pretty damn good in GT3, most notably the light and nimble Lotus models, the Pagani Zonda S, the Audi S4 Quattro (for rally), and the TVR models (especially the Speed 12)
Ok so on the rally tires question, I paused for a second and was like, "I have no idea which of these would, since I've not played GT3 and am unfamiliar. But... I'm gonna say the Mustang? I'm probably wrong, but hey". Turns out I need to trust my gut more.

Not surprising that the PT could be turbo'd, the PT GT existed with a turbocharged 2.4L, better known for being in the SRT4 Neon. The PTs were cheap econoboxes, and I prefer the SS HHR's, but the GT was somewhat fun to drive around in the same way the Caliber is, as a meme kind of (TBH, I actually like the way the SRT4 Calibers look, but I'm one of very few it seems).
A weird suggestion for a challenge run but only use cars that have a certain default color. Like, for example, only cars where the first color option is red. Weird but could be funny too
For the rally tyre I feel like its only the Cobra and maybe the Mustang, i feel like it would be something about the car being too heavy or something that would prevent the rally tires
1:05 Jesus christ is that real, as I just got into the professional league, and they removed over 500 cars for GT3?! as I was wondering why their was no dodge copperhead or any of the real cool looking vipers from 2 in it that I've seen in the videos and no wonder the damn thing requires such a huge memory car space with 4 then
How about this idea for a challenge run: Set up a randomiser with the alphabet (or at least the more commonly used letters) and you can only use vehicles that start with that letter.
Well, there's a challenge that could prove to be challenging, and that is to beat the Extreme Events of Gran Turismo 4 with only road cars. Pretty much being a continuation of your Road Car Only challenge for the GTWC, this challenge requires you to beat all Extreme Events in Gran Turismo 4 with road-legal cars, including the infamous Formula GT championship, which could prove to be a problem, although I saw videos of it being completed without the Formula Gran Turismo, so there IS a chance you can do it.
