THE SAHARA OF SASKATCHEWAN (I can't believe this is in Canada)

- This is one of the last places on Earth that I would ever expect to find SAND DUNES. Even most Canadians have never been to Saskatchewan, let alone international tourists. If you are looking for a unique experience in the prairies, look no further than the Great Sand Hills in south western Saskatchewan. I had heard of this place before coming here, but I did think it was THIS BIG. If you are doing a Canadian roadtrip and are going through SK, make sure you plan a stop at this wonderful natural wonder. I will link some articles down below that I found helpful to find this place:

SafetyWing (best for younger travelers + digital nomads): www.safetywing...
I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. BUT you cannot purchase SafetyWing WHILE in Canada or USA. You can only purchase once already abroad. Hey Mondo is more expensive but offers a higher level of coverage including plans that have trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Hey Mondo would be the better insurance to use if you need travel medical insurance when applying for a visa. Both companies cover covid. I am an affiliate for both companies, but I pay for my own policies.

Talk about a walk down memory lane, nostalgia overload. I walked on that exact same sand dune back in the mid 90s and have never been back. 💔
I'm watching this on Father's Day while drinking a Dad's Root beer. Happy Father's Day, everybody.
Saskatchewan is seriously underrated. Come here if you want an inner peace for your soul and if you are tried from the hustle and bustle of big cities.
My friends and I we all suggest leaving Canada ASAP while you can before the next lockdown, or before police charge you with offending someone on your social media. Canada has gone down the crapper😢. Latin America is more free, heck most of the world is more free.
How many native Americans were secretly killed and buried in unmarked graves in Saskatchewan? 💀
@@nomadclient4047 everyone is free to go wherever they want to.
@@nomadclient4047 this is completely false. That just sounds like someone being dramatic
@@WestCoastDon448 I wish it was overly dramatic but the lockdowns, repression, and abuse of anyone who asks questions is real. Also very real is government shut down go fund me accounts for opposition to get lawyers. But law guarantees representation. But it's not followed.. Canada is new USSR!😡
What really comes through in your SK videos here is the sky, they call it the land of living skies.
I love Saskatchewan. I was born on the west coast and lived all over Canada but my Heart and soul belongs to Saskatchewan
I moved here 2010 💖💖
Thank you Alina and Dad for sharing. I always enjoy your videos!
I've been to Drumheller for a little while and I have to admit this is my favorite part of Canada. I'm born in a small farm and those Prairie make me feel better and happy. I just love the prairie and the nature of west Canada.
I am from Fort Chipewyan, AB, located on the east end of Lake Athabasca (but live in Edmonton). The biggest sand dune in Sask is located on the south shore of lake Athabasca also the biggest lake in Sask & AB. The dune is huge many many sq km of sand. I seen it, we went by boat from Ft Chipewyan and WOW...
Yes, I've heard it's pretty epic
You took the words out of my mouth !
The east end of Lake Athabasca is in Saskatchewan. I believe you wanted to say Fort Chip is located on the west side of Lake Athabasca.
❤
Land of living skies . been there 1990 and 2009 .. always amazing
The 570 into Drumheller from Oyen is one of my favourite drives. So peaceful and quiet.
Each episode of your travels brings a novel look about our world. A Sahara desert inside Canada ?. A discovery to me. If I may offer respectfully my personal, observation. I commend you for your gentle, respectful interaction with your parents. A very refreshing example to all of us. It seems we have lost some of it these days.
Another spectacular performance by the lovable Alina Mcleod. I have never been to Saskatchewan but have had an interest in it. Very entertaining production. Seems like a relaxed part of the world. Keep up the good work.
Hi Alina! 😄🙏👋🌟 I hope your having a marvelous day! This is really a beautiful magnificent super excellent video! 😁👍❤️👏🇨🇦📹🥇💯🏆💫✨🌟 The Great Sandhills of Saskatchewan look really amazing! Even the view and the drone shots of the landscape is so beautiful! Also the food at the restaurant looks really delicious! I would definitely like to visit the Great Sandhills of Saskatchewan one day. It’s really a marvelous place! Thank you so much Alina to share with us this excellent fantastic video. You are the best and greatest world traveler adventurer in the world! 😃👍👏✈️🌎📹🧳🗺🥇💯🏆✨🌟 I wish you Alina a wonderful beautiful marvelous blessed day. Take care and be safe Alina. 😊🙏❤️👋🇨🇦👍✨🌟
Dads and daughters, such a special relationship, nothing like it.
Indian food, in a small village..Love it..😍
That's canada. Our population is essentially 25% native, 25% European, 25% Asian, 25% indo/middle eastern.
Beautiful video, your dad rocks, and your relationship is great. Keep it up, and give him three grandchildren now.
Moved to Calgary early this year from Mississauga. I've been actually interested in visiting the Athabasca Sand Dunes Provincial Park in Saskatchewan! Alberta has some sand dunes also but this seems to be the biggest area in Canada like this. Even on Google maps you can see it right away.
That's amazing there are sand in the middle of grass
Your dad is hilarious lmao! "A sandbox for little kids!" But the sand dunes definitely did look cool even if they're not really comparable to the vast desert of Sahara. So excited to see footage from your visit in Drumheller as, me being the huge dino nerd I am, have read that it's the one place to go in Canada for dinosaur enthusiasts like myself so it's gonna be an awesome video to look forward to! 🦖🦕😍
Thanks! It is definitely worth checking out!
It was a pleasure to meet your dad.
Great that you r rep'n SK!!!
Hai there how are you i like the way of explaining about ur dad in hafford video and the beauty of SK in your videos. That's why i am really excited to see SK can you suggest your best camping, swimming and fishing spots for couple days. My family also farming family but i miss the opportunity now bcz i moved to Edmonton
" a sandbox for little kids", that was so funny.😄 Loving the landscape.👍😊🇮🇪🇨🇦
Went here!!! Only got to stay a while but it was surreal to see as someone who hasn’t travelled out of the country 🎉
Lovely video Alina
Thanks Alex!
That road from Dorothy, {the old elevator| to Drum is always lovely, because of the emptiness.. We drive that route when we travel from Saskatoon to Calgary every time.
After visiting our daughter in Vancouver, the best way to describe getting back to the wide open sky's of Saskatchewan, is that feeling you get when you loosen your belt after thanksgiving supper.
Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful to see the Sandhills, lovely place! Love watching your travels in Canada 🇨🇦
Hey Alina McLeod sensational el tour turistico en esas partes remotas nice panoramica de esos Campos verdes, el Sahara, recorrido en el highway, buen conductor, bonita panoramica del atardecer y te miras bonita con tus earrings
How much longer are we going to be on Sask-watch for, Alina? The vast, flat endless plains, your dad's laconic comments, and your unwavering charm are all very well...but we need to see your goggle eyed wonder at exotic locations!
I got some Alberta content coming up for a couple more weeks and then will be leaving Canada.
Great to see this dynamic Team again. Where have I been? Well I am back. Thanks Team. Ya still Rocking. ))))
Was making the trek across the plains about the same time as you! But we took Hwy 9 Saskatoon to Calgary.
My wife and I love your videos. I'm from Sask with Ukranian/Norwegian heritage, love to travel, and even have some connection to Kinistino through my dad. Thanks for all your videos. I'll continue to keep watching and smiling at the familiar scenes!
Thank you both very much!
I got a great laugh when you described your dad's reaction to the SK Sahara. A wonderful place to explore for sure!
*GOD BLESS MY FAVOURITE TRAVEL UA-camR AND HER DAD!*
I appreciate you and your Dad showing us areas of Saskatchewan! Was always curious about the place.
Wow ! Great presentation ! Miso thumb's up ! Great photo shots ! My local city ! Great ambassador ! I'm smiling ,appreciate !
Hi Alina, I was in Saskatchewan in 1995. The people were so friendly and kind there! Many greetings to the nuns in Regina, who were with us at the bus station on our way to Toronto!
Canada is an amazing place, hope I make it there one day. Love the vast open countryside, really pretty 💜💜💜
It is nice to see a bit of the old stomping grounds. Born in Swift Current, or speedy creek.
I love your videos. I just found them. I was thinking of driving again to Luang Phrabang and discovered your videos on Saskatchewan. I was born in Saskatchewan and left when I was 20 lived in London by Tower Bridge went to University left London after 25 years and now live in Northern Thailand.
Love the Great Sas! Very interesting tour!# Shout out for your Dad, great bonding too Alina!#
Happy to See A Sikh Panjabi guy in Indian Restaurant
I live in the West Kootenay of BC, in the Selkirk Mountains , most people only think of BC with the Rockies, There ate 4 mountain ranges west from the Rockies before you get to the Okanaogan and Kelowna. Anyway we ave been across Canada 8 times and of all our trips I much prefer southern Saskatchewan and southern Alberta. Summer in the prairies of Canada is just wonderful. I have mountains and trees all the rest of the year ,but the open skies and fields of grain is just stunning. Our daughter and finance are moving to Moose Jaw Sask in May and we will be visiting them as many times as we can. Also we have been to the Tyrell Dinosaur museum in Drumheller many times ,it is always new and fun to see the exhibits.
Swift Current is my birth place 😍. Saskatchewan is so chill and peaceful 😌
A wonderful tour and presentation. The music, videography, and narration are exceptional in quality. You are so talented Alina! You made Saskatchewan come alive for me in new ways. Thanks so much!
Aw thank you very much, Frederic!
Hello Alina and Gordon! I very much enjoyed your scenic car drive through southwestern Saskatchewan into southeastern Alberta! This brings back some good memories!
I’m very glad!
Thank you so much.
Wow! A desert in Canada! Just amazing to watch this awesome video with your lovely dad through these magnificient Canadian roads and then...a desert in the middle of a stunning environment. It sounds strange but it is true. And these small towns are truly nice and peaceful. Anyway your country is a fairytale, worth living and visiting. Thank you Alina for this great video.
My pleasure! Definitely so much to see :)
Your videos about Saskatchewan are very informative and awesome. Keep up the good work.
When we were escaping JUNUARY in Vancouver, we headed to Little Manitou Beach in Saskatchewan. Wonderful place! But we didn't really escape Junuary because there were torrential downpours in Saskatchewan the whole four days we were there. Still loved it.
Loved the scenery in this video! And I was delighted you both stopped in Leader. I love that little town.
Alina you with your dad that's a cool trip
good old saskatchewan.
best place to live in canada! dont forget to see northern sask.
drumheller is a cool little town! thanks alina for showing our great western canada to the world!
so many people dont even know we exist!
god bless you!
happy travels 👍
Thx for showing me that! I had no idea that was there! Great footage!
What a beautiful slice of the Sahara in Saskatchewan! Love the heavenly drone shots here- one of the most captivating ones I've seen of a desert landscape 👌🏼💯
Aw thank you 😁
Loving your Canada series
Thank you Alina
Wow amazing i was born in drumheller. Cant wait for next video
It's cool to see the Great Prairee!#
Considering all the exotic places you travel to I oddly enjoy your Sask and Alberta ones the best.
Haha me too. Thank you
Really enjoying your road trip, it's so beautiful around the dune area. 😍 Looking forward to Drumheller, it's been a few years since we visited. Have a wonderful day you two! 👍
Hello my lovely thank you always a pleasure
Very nice and relaxing video! Never thought of traveling that direction by car but now I started considering that lol 😃
Stay safe to both of you, thank you!#
Very Very beautiful videos
I am your new subscriber and This a great honor for mo👍🌹🌹
The scenery along the Canadian highways is beautiful!
Love the videos with you and your dad.
Thank you and dad for your effort on making this amazing video. I have really enjoyed your videos.
Glad you like them!
Beautiful desert in Canada 🇨🇦🥰👍 I hope you had a lovely day
Hi Alina,
great nature and great cut to the beat of the music!
What an overwhelming positive rating of your dad regarding the Indian food.
🙂
We have a phrase here: “No complaints is positive said enoug.”
🙂
Best Regards, Ralf
It is cool to see these places...........been to Calgary but not much else out west
The Sandhills are not the one hill as you and your dad infer. It is the ecosystem of the very large ranching area . Sure tbere is grass growing but it is very fragile as the soil is so sandy. Drive on or tear up tbe grass and it takes years if ever to grow back. Absolutely stunning country side.
Nice, thanks for sharing your road trip, but I am surprised you two didn't check out cypress hills.
visited Drumheller once many yrs ago, nice museum
I love going to the Sandhills. And also I'm not sure if it was open at the time when you went to Leader Saskatchewan, but should of went to the 10-4 food place. Good food and best ice cream around Saskatchewan
I to have visited Egypt and the Sahara Desert and was thinking the same as your dad 🤣 saying that I thought it look ed well worth a visit so thanks Alina ❤ 😘
Миленькие и душевные видео путешествия :)
Спасибо
Very peaceful.. love from India
Great clip! 🙂
Always wondered about those sand dunes! They're a bit too far north of 1 when I drove from Regina - Calgary, I recall. Since I lived on the east side of the province, I never really ventured into the west too much.
You're Sask video's are my favourite. I'm from Toronto and have also seen much of the world but Saskatchewan has a special spot in my heart.
Thank you very much!
alina eu adoro os teus videos quando vc vai vir pro brasil de novo
Loved the sand dunes. Didn’t realize there was desert like environment in Canada. Thanks Alina sharing your providence.
The south end of okanagon valley is a desert area , sage brush and cactus everwere.i
My pleasure!
There is sub tropics here too
Simply beautiful there! Food looked great Alina and you and your Dad are wonderful companions.
Check out the south shore of Lake Athabasca on the Saskatchewan side of the lake. The other half is in Alberta. 2400 sq. km. of sand dunes. It really looks like the Sahara Desert.
Hi Alina, A very beautiful showing of Saskatchewan. Thank you!
Время с семьей-самое ценное! Молодец, что проводишь его со своим отцом
The palace guard approves of this Saskatchewan tour!😄✌️❤️🇬🇧
Saskatchewan is beautiful......even if only seen through the eyes of UA-cam.
I have enjoyed all your videos and I particularly enjoy your choice of music. I also grew up in small town Saskatchewan.
Thank you very much!
Drumheller is too good..Amazing shots from drone..Astonished to see Indian restaurant ..Punjabi dishes are always awesome..wonderful job Alina..
Went to the dinosaur museum in Alb., best part was hanging outside afterwards, sand side, badlands side! I love sand, they used so much to frack with, too much!
Ahh, that seems like a great destination for tranquility and relaxed vibes =D take me there already!
Im a bit curious to see the sand box if I get a chance to visit Swift Current in the future… Thanks for sharing. New subscriber here from PA.
Wow she has great eyes!!!!
Harriet and I disagree with Gordon Magoo. Sand Dunes where you don't expect them, that is unique. We saw them when we were there. The Great Sand Hills. They were worth seeing. The memories we took away from Saskatchewan was that, it has a calm and serenity to it. No one is in a hurry. Thank You Alina for taking us there. Sending you lots of love💖💖💖
Harriet, Jim and Yuki. Richmond, Va.
haha totally agree
speedy creek! good one Alina. Love the videos of saskatchewan. I live in BC now but my heart will always be there for sure.
Good video greetings from Mexico
Wonderful video. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you and keep them coming!
