  • This is one of the last places on Earth that I would ever expect to find SAND DUNES. Even most Canadians have never been to Saskatchewan, let alone international tourists. If you are looking for a unique experience in the prairies, look no further than the Great Sand Hills in south western Saskatchewan. I had heard of this place before coming here, but I did think it was THIS BIG. If you are doing a Canadian roadtrip and are going through SK, make sure you plan a stop at this wonderful natural wonder. I will link some articles down below that I found helpful to find this place:

I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. BUT you cannot purchase SafetyWing WHILE in Canada or USA. You can only purchase once already abroad. Hey Mondo is more expensive but offers a higher level of coverage including plans that have trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Hey Mondo would be the better insurance to use if you need travel medical insurance when applying for a visa. Both companies cover covid. I am an affiliate for both companies, but I pay for my own policies.

I am from Fort Chipewyan, AB, located on the east end of Lake Athabasca (but live in Edmonton). The biggest sand dune in Sask is located on the south shore of lake Athabasca also the biggest lake in Sask & AB. The dune is huge many many sq km of sand. I seen it, we went by boat from Ft Chipewyan and WOW...

I live in the West Kootenay of BC, in the Selkirk Mountains , most people only think of BC with the Rockies, There ate 4 mountain ranges west from the Rockies before you get to the Okanaogan and Kelowna. Anyway we ave been across Canada 8 times and of all our trips I much prefer southern Saskatchewan and southern Alberta. Summer in the prairies of Canada is just wonderful. I have mountains and trees all the rest of the year ,but the open skies and fields of grain is just stunning. Our daughter and finance are moving to Moose Jaw Sask in May and we will be visiting them as many times as we can. Also we have been to the Tyrell Dinosaur museum in Drumheller many times ,it is always new and fun to see the exhibits.

Harriet and I disagree with Gordon Magoo. Sand Dunes where you don't expect them, that is unique. We saw them when we were there. The Great Sand Hills. They were worth seeing. The memories we took away from Saskatchewan was that, it has a calm and serenity to it. No one is in a hurry. Thank You Alina for taking us there. Sending you lots of love💖💖💖
