You should try to watch the jbl websites. They have something called "outlet" where they sell refurnished stuff. It feels like new. With some coupons i got mine for a bit more then 250 euros, wich is about half the price for me. If u got usd u can do the math.

I own a charge 3 it’s a great speaker but I’m choosing between the boombox and the xtreme 2 I love the xtreme 2 because it’s very portable but I want the boombox bass

Why low frequency test was on outdoor mode on boombox? You knw outdoor mode sacrifice low frequency for higher bass more punch .. and indoor mode better sound (lower bass, less treble) so i would've prefered if you used it more .. and some songs you used to use before are missing i rly liked those as benchmark :( like phaser ... anw overall good job and thank you :)
They sound pretty same but i buy the xtreme 2 because it fits in my schoolbag and easier to carry i know boombox can go louder!
I went with the xtreme 2, sounds cleaner to me and seems like it will be easier to carry around.
And the price is way smaller

I was never into bluetooth speakers but 2 years ago my woman forgot the headphones when we went on a holiday and so i bought a JBL Charge 3. I liked it. Now i have Xtreme 2 and two JBL Boombox paired. JBL rocks!

You didn't do a good comparison. Xtreme2 is 2X20w when boombox is 2X30w. So a fair comparison would be Boom box sound to 80% and Xtreme 2 sound to 100%. In such conditions, Xtreme 2 has overall better sound but a little less bass. Boombox is heavy, Xtreme2 is lighter. For me, Xtrem2 is the best choice. And for those who want big bass, go to JBL partybox 100. And sorry for the mistakes, I m french.
There is no need to do this. This video merely shows how the XTREME 2 holds up against the BOOMBOX which is more expensive.

I have the boombox but it is sometimes too big and heavy if you carry it for a long time so I think I'm going to buy the xtreme 2 for the erasure
I'm hearing that a lot. I don't own one but really want one! Tbh if you're travelling via walking for a distance the 2 can be just as annoyingly heavy and awkward. With the straps (I have 2 also) they bounce around a lot slipping off the shoulder and the sway even if only an inch against the body gets annoying, can't say painful as if one does they need a bit more pain tolerance lol. Buuuuut I've also dropped them in 100 ways and all they do is bounce tumble roll a bit without dent scratch or scuff. Pick it up and away you go! Try that with a Bose lol I love how strong they are! Lastly after my babble here that no one's gonna read anyway so bc its too long and too much work for the brain...I have 2 charges I xtreme and 2 extreme 2s, it's also my basement cave dwelling home entertainment center ha..all it's missing is the mains for the bass. Each speaker has a different sound and sound great together. And. Btw oddly enough an extreme 2 commented to a charge only sound horrible together but 2 charges connected sound awesome

Frankly speaking extreme 2 for me coz of very comfortable to bring anywhere.. u can put in hand bag but the boombox not confi..now a days the design and comfortable to bring will be peoples choice.
I have the extreme 2 it's not as carry friendly as you think I definitely wish it had a handle instead of a strap other than that I love it it's got pretty good bass and sound really good and best of all it sounds better than any beats speakers
Well, you can have a handle if you want, you can go buy some rope like a shoelaces but longer than it and craft it like a handle then buy a clip that you can put on the crafted handle and carry it around like boombox

I cant decide between xtreme 2 and the first boombox,the price difference in my country is only around 100eur . Ive tried the boombox and it just blows the xtreme 2 out of the water for me.But ive noticed that a lot of people get that hissing sound on low sound/battery level on the boombox. Can somebody help ?

It’s just a shame. I’m afraid JBL will regret not making Xtreme 2 more extreme. I myself waited patiently for this speaker for 2 years to replace my original Xtreme, but I will definitely be looking elsewhere to spend an extra hundred bucks. Maybe I’ll wait for the Dockin D fine 2, or a waterproof Vifa Oslo.. They could have just made the go n play waterproof with better battery life and called it the Xtreme 2..

Im still using the original JBL Boombox in 2021 :) Got it for 250€, which is around 300 USD. Works great for any use, great speaker for all around use in my opinion.
Got my boombox speaker for £180 today after a faulty xtreme 2 and I love the sound
i also recently got the original boombox but i paid 120€, its pretty beat up tho
Boombox definitely sounds better but that does not make up for its size and price. I'm getting the Xtreme 2.

Xtreme 2 is good! The Jbl Boombox is Garbage imo because it’s way too harsh in the treble and has no mids at all.
Nope is actually clean very clean. It's just that its too loud for the mic...so it sounds distorted but it's not.

Seabeeman, your opinion carries FAR more weight to those who only own one or none of the tested speakers. Thanks for sharing, trying to decide between the 2 to use on a semi truck for sounds in the front and sound with my monitor in the back while watching movies. I currently have a Charge 2.

I love my extreme 2. I like the boombox as well but I would rather spend the money on a decent sound system.
Just from watching the video, boom box sounds better. Better bass and mids are a lot warmer, (I guess due to bigger drivers). While the extreme sounds skinny and kinda bassy missing the mids. To me the boombox is more balance and of course louder but that’s a given, it’s bigger duh lol
