I think this is the most complicated job I've ever seen Sorin attempting. Well done, Sorin! I hope you get it fixed! I've been down that path myself many times - almost bought a programmer like yours for a single use.
Interestingly, like others are saying - and, in my case, completely by accident - the chip reprogrammed itself when I took out the battery and started the laptop on the charger only. Yeah, the battery was already off when I soldered the new chip, go figure that out...

for those who can't afford the Start chip programmer, i will prepare a video for you guys on how you can use the keyboard connector to program the super io, it's very easy...and remember that not all Super Io are programmable, and well done to my old teacher Mr Sorin for starting to focus on serious things, and let young boys jump mosfets. Anyway let me help, you need to remove the bios chip, from the bios chip you can extract the bin files for the super io, you extract those files and you use them to program the super io...It very easy for those who are newbies i will do another video showing how to extract the super io bin files from the main bios

here is a tip to program ITE SIO on a Lenovo laptop. Make sure your chip is empty if not program sio with a blank file if your sio is a 128k file 128k full file in FF in hex editor after you program the blank file means your sio is empty. Now remove the CMOS battery and don't plug in the main battery Just connect the charger and wait for your main bios will flash your sio itself.

When I'm soldering next to connectors I put 5-10mm wide, 0.8mm thick aluminium strips on the board on it's edge. You can bend it easily around the connector and components and it shields the heat. Works even when I change BGA chips on the board.
When I misplace the aluminium strips, a desptop pc pci-e slot cover works too.

(old one out by air, clean pads, install new chip, and solder, fine tip blade or a sponge will make a easy and perfect job) cheers :)

At 20 volts 15 amps, "that's a nice charger". My laptop charger is 19.5 volts 16.9 amps. I purchased it from China to power my home made laptop. On testing, the power supply, it maxes out at 330 watts. But I'm sure the one in the video is better made than the charger I have. :-) Mine is a bit electrically noisy, but I have extra filtering on my laptop to handle it. On mine, instead of turning off, and staying off when overloaded, it turns off and on rapidly.

It's because these era of legions send the DC jack's data trace straight to the EC (the data pin is just a resistor connected to gnd with the resistance indicating the wattage of charger. The EC uses this to "negotiate" it's power draw). If pos (+20v) and gnd short, bye bye EC. Hopefully you had it in slow charging mode and the mosfets or the PMIC don't go with it. The best part is if you upgraded from the stock 230W charger to Lenovo's 300W unit and this happens to you, your board will have so much damage that you practically have no choice left but to crawl back to Lenovo and ask for even MORE! And they say romance is dead.

Very great chances of faulty chip from China and also bypass paths by program it onboard. The paths can lower the signals from the programmer and make them low quality. If it is a reputable seller buy the programmed chip because the PC is there for too long and you are stuck with the job and customer waiting. Very beautiful job. Congratulations.

90% of those from faulty laptops. 50% of faulty laptops are shorted due people dropping screws on the powered motherboard and around half time the chip will die. so we get around 25% dead chips from random sellers.

I have a problem in my ASUS ROG laptop, when I plug in the charger it drains my battery and goes to 0% and then shutsdown and when I plug it in after a while it charges normally and goes to 100% and th battery sustains for 3-4 hours and the cycle repeats
