I pressed refresh on my subscription page and noticed i got a message on my Skype. A client asked me for a typography logo following a nice font. *Will Paterson is a life saver*
+Jay I think so - more slab serif. Before I recorded the video I genuinely thought that the logo had serifs! Ha. It’s got serif qualities without the serifs. Ha ;)
Hello, sometimes when I choose a font the font dont match with the simbol. Example: imagine you have a logo with a elegant wolf simbol for a clothes brand and you decide to use a script font. Sometime the meaning is correct but dont feel right overall they don't look good. I don't know why maybe is the form or something else?
The funny thing is that for example futura looks very modern, but was published in 1927. Same goes for many other sans serif typefaces, they are older than you might think.
I haves logo and don't know what font was used. Online font ID programs do not have any success. (Unfortunately likely due to low quality image) It works on the website but isn't scalable upwards. Do you have any suggestions for how I can identify the font please?
What is your process for determining which font to use after you decide whether you want serif, sans serif, or script? Do you just throw stuff at the wall, or do you have a specific font in mind?
I am a composer/drummer, and i'm trying to think of a logo for my name... RockBoBsteR What would you recommend for a single musician trying to make a brand for himself? I already have the idea of RockB is forward, BsteR is backwards, with an "O" in the middle. But other than that, i have no clue about logos or fonts.
I Have Been Wondering For A Long-Long Time About FONT Lisence. A Tons of Confusion! How Do I Get The Lisence I Needed???! For Logo Commercial Uses of The Font Online Uses Or Even Use it In My Apps There is Tons of Them, And Its Kinna Ridiculous That People Need to Pay Font Per Click in Their WebSite How About Commercial Use of Legacy Font Liike, Helvetica or Futura, For Example a Poster for Restaurant. or a Logo?. Or Even The Font Thats Included in The OS(Win/Mac), Should I Pay For Commercial Uses Of The Font?
This was so helpful! I'm currently trying to figure out what my personal branding should be as I'm a recent pharmacy grad (I kind of did a double take when you mentioned pharmacist while talking about Sans Serif fonts, haha!). I'm trying to make a creative resume to apply for healthcare advertising/marketing jobs and am not very experienced with graphic design, so your videos have been helpful! Really I've only used PowerPoint to design things like presentations and don't have any design/illustration programs, but time is of the essence right now 😅 Do you recommend a particular program for a beginner like myself to make something like a creative/polished resume?
Will Can you please make another video based on the same topic in a more elaborate way. Like you took names of few san serif fonts. Kingly give suggestions on other types of fonts also. There are plenty and more the no is more the confusion comes in. So where to stop that yes this will be the perfect font for my logo.
Dear UA-cam, Just because I watched 2 of this guy's videos a week ago, doesn't mean you need to recommend all of his videos to me. Sincerely, AndromedaGaming
for logo design you're probably wanna use slab serif and not normal serif. With slab serif the serifs are much thicker making them easier to see and grab the cleints attention.
Will paterson, great video 😊 I'm currently trying to do a logo for my face painting and special effect make up business. It's called 'Scribbles and Screams' and I'm stuck on fonts because I want it to show both the face painting side (scribbles) and the FX make up side (screams). I don't think that scribbly font and something like horror font go together. How else can I get this across without using font?? I'm driving myself mad 😫 help!!!
Mostafa Akbari 1... anything to the power of 0 is always 1. Because if you go through the powers... to get the one below you divide it by itself. E.g - 5^2=25. 5^1=5. 5^0=1. 5^-1=-5 understand
Just realised that I spelt Sans Serif wrong! Thanks for letting me know.
Will Paterson You are not forgiven

Surely Pandora is a version of Optima, no? Although it has the thick/thin strokes you’ve associated with serif fonts, it’s a sans.
Great tips for choose fonts for a specific business.
I just tried watching this video in 0.5 speed; you're actually perfect to watch like you're drunk. I learned AND I laughed!
I usually watch videos at 1.75 speed. I tried 0.5 and omg THIS IS TOO FUNNY HAHAHA
Yaay, fonts.
Bebas Neue is my favorite sans serif font. I highly recommend it for cooperate design.
+Jay I think so - more slab serif. Before I recorded the video I genuinely thought that the logo had serifs! Ha. It’s got serif qualities without the serifs. Ha ;)

The funny thing is that for example futura looks very modern, but was published in 1927. Same goes for many other sans serif typefaces, they are older than you might think.
We'll soon question what does modern mean I guess
Would you use a Script Font casual on the first letter of the name and the rest of the name is in Sans-Serit Font bold?
Thank you very much for your video. Very clear! Helped a lot =)
I haves logo and don't know what font was used. Online font ID programs do not have any success. (Unfortunately likely due to low quality image) It works on the website but isn't scalable upwards. Do you have any suggestions for how I can identify the font please?
another question: Is there an easy way to find out what font/s are used on particular websites?
Love your content! And your accent! I'm from Australia 😝
+BrookeEmma thank you so much :)
What is your process for determining which font to use after you decide whether you want serif, sans serif, or script? Do you just throw stuff at the wall, or do you have a specific font in mind?
I just shop around - Mood board it and make a decision based on the functionality of it. :)
Hi Will! I was wondering if you could do a video on how to approach the legality of using typefaces in the designs that you make for your clients?
Buy it. Simple.
I am a composer/drummer, and i'm trying to think of a logo for my name... RockBoBsteR
What would you recommend for a single musician trying to make a brand for himself?
I already have the idea of RockB is forward, BsteR is backwards, with an "O" in the middle. But other than that, i have no clue about logos or fonts.
