Hello Ovi I am from the Philadelphia area I have been to Puerto Rico many times since 1986 my kids are half Puerto Rican I myself am Irish German but I fell in love with Puerto Rico the first visit in 1986 ! My last visit was 2016 I miss it a lot ! We were suppose to go this May 2020 but with the virus we will not be!! Thanks to you and Hayden I get a dose of Puerto Rico !!! My kids family which I look as my family are from adjuntas Arecibo lares ! I never been to the places Las mares and it looks nice and San sebestian hopefully next time I go I get to see !! Thanks for the blog I love yours and Hayden’s !!! Stay safe !!
Patricia, I work at the Navy Yard at the end of Broad Street in Philly. I have been going to PR frequently lately, but that wasn't always the case. I also canceled my trip for June. Not going anytime soon, at least until all is clear. Las Marias is a tiny sleepy town in the mountains. Great if you want to just relax. Thanks for watching.
When you they were chopping up the lechon , a guy dropped the names of towns in NY that I've lived, lol. Monticello, Ellenville, Middletown, Newburgh. That was great. My family is from San German. Great video, brings back memories. Thank you for sharing. God Bless. Stay safe.
I love the thin crispy skin around the face. My uncle used to asar a whole pig, from morning till evening while my mom and aunts made the morzillas. Those were wonderful family times back in PR en Cidra.
That Lechon looks so good. The last time I ate Lechon was in the Philippines. I remember how juicy and tasty the meat was and the crunch of the skin. Lechon must have its roots in Spanish Culture, but it is taken many steps further in the former colonies. That is a wonderful tradition. As a aficionado of culinary arts, this is what I love about food.
Meketrefe means you are ill mannered & badly dressed. My Mother in law from Barceloneta says. Me cargo en na, use that when you don't wanna say real bad words. I loved hearing your cousin & his compadres talk the real campo dialect, music to my ears. Watching "la Promesa", fills my heart with so much love! Gracias, DLB.

Hello Ovi. I enjoyed so much this video. It transported me to the island. I love those tertulia. Nothing like those moments. Be safe. God bless you and your family.
Ovi Duran I can imagine. I would love to be there just to enjoy that good vibes especially in this terrible time we are living. If God allows me to go to my town again. I will stop by.
Saludos Ovi. Another Outstanding video and the lechón looks amazing. I wish I were there lol to try it. Very nice looking machetes as well. Keep them coming.
Man...I enjoyed this video. Its nice to see people just be themselves in their natural environment. You didn't need to say much. This was one of my favorite videos by far. Saw your hike with Hayden...Have you ever have thought of doing a hike one day with some of us from here in the mainland who might like to explore mountain scenery? Im game if you do it. Im sure you can get some of your audience to participate. I enjoy countryside of PR. That's the island's soul. Thanks, man. God bless!
You are right, just listening to what they said was very entertaining, but I had to be careful what I recorded because the "me cague en na'" would be said every now and then. Lol. I am thinking just what you said. On our next hike I may invite anyone that would like to join us to come, at least for part of it. We are thinking of hiking from downtown Lares to downtown Las Marias via some routes I used to live in. It is more than 15 miles, but people can only join parts of it along the way. Unfortunately, I don't know when because all my plans have changed due to the virus. Sometime in the future.

Great set of videos you generously share with us. BTW....I know what you mean about the words. The natives are friendly but can be quite colorful with their words. LOL. Still my people.
