I also want to note that Stolas was most likely more on the edge than usual, because during the song at the beginning of the episode, it was shown that he had run out of his antidepressants. Had he had them, he might have been more patient and less quick to dismiss what Blitz was saying. But he was in that mode of 'everything will lead to the worst case scenario'. So he essentially ran away by deciding that Blitz obviously doesn't like him, and shut him down..
As someone who needs depression meds, I recognise the signs of an unmedicated person very well.
I saw a fair bit of myself in Stolas. I’ve sabotaged more than my fair share of relationships and friendships much like he did.
Yeah I think they were both in fight or flight mode at the end. Blitz lashed out and Stolas just wanted the rejection to stop.
honestly the problem started when Stolas decided he wanted to surprise blitz with the crystal. You cant spring this kind of thing on someone as emotionally unhinged as Blitz who thinks he's only good enough if he's useful, then expect them to have their minds already made up about what they want. for blitz Its basically like putting a blind fold on someone with trust issues then spinning them around enough that they cant even stand upright anymore. What i think should have happened was he gave Blitz the choice of if he wanted the stone or not. If blitz waved off the stone, no harm done, offer it again the next time and let him keep using the book until then. You let him decide if he's ready to cross that line. you dont take that choice from him then stand him on the line and tell him he has to choose, thats gonna basically end in nothing but disaster, as we have seen. The worse part is Stolas doesnt even realize this because the two dont talk.
@@gothic_ace2037 If they were both thinking clearly and didn’t have their own trauma to deal with, there wouldn’t be a story, though.
The drama comes from the misunderstanding; it’s painful for us as the audience because we know the answer - or at least we think we do - and it hits our innate human desire to help smooth things over.
This is well written, though, because neither one of them is completely in the right, nor completely in the wrong. It’s a real, messy relationship.
I’m just holding out faith that this will work out in the end, but we shouldn’t be surprised when it’s a painful experience - this series is set in Hell after all.
@@RealBelisariusCawl oh i know this, im just voicing my thoughts. I have no doubt that the two will patch things up. We saw in the teaser how blitz was holding stolas and protecting him; it will be a long bumpy ride but it wouldnt be worth working on if the end wasnt worth the effort.
Blitz was trying to resolve the conflict the only way he knows how: "I'm not leaving and you can't make me. We're going to fight through this. LET'S GO!" But Stolas doesn't resolve conflict by fighting it out, and he CAN make Blitz leave. Honestly, I was impressed that Blitz didn't just run away from his feelings; he was ready to fight for his own rights, even if he was lashing out like always.
Blitz is going to have a massive breakdown in the next episode.

If you watch Blitz face when Stolas initially gives him freedom. He was happy, and he liked the crystal as a gift. But he didn't expect Stolas to give him an ultimatum of being his and his only. Blitz hasn't given himself time to get to know Stolas past as a "friends with benefits" but Stolas is wanting so much from him. He needs a bit to think. Stolas just wouldn't let him. Stolas just fulfilled his own insecurities, and answered for Blitz. They both need therapy.
They are both right. They really needed this breakdown tbh now they know where each other stand. As sad as it is.
actually Stolas doesnt really know where blitz stands, he THINKS he does but thats because he triggered blitz into his fight or flight instinct. Stolas basically fulfilled his own fears by pressuring blitz into choosing without allowing him a moment to fully absorb what was going on. And for someone as emotionally stunted and self destructive as blitz that is a very very bad thing to do.
The end was very good. They both make sense in the scene. One is used to a much worse hell of poverty, loneliness, and so on while the other has all that minus the poverty. That one difference sometimes seems like it should be easy to overcome but it isn't so easy to overcome. As a rich royal Stolas does not understand Blitz's point of view and Blitz couldn't imagine that a rich royal in hell could care about a peasant at all. They both are limited by their life experience and they need to have the humility to listen to each other and understand the other's experience. But will they do that? Hopefully.
I think Stolas couldn't spell it more clear to Blitz. He explained lovingly the first time. Blitz took it as a joke. Stolas tried to explain it again with just note of frustration in voice but Blitz AGAIN took it in not serious way and instead just started to curse at Stolas about what he thinks of royalty. In the end Stolas took it as final response that even if Stolas is serious he is still just ,,rich a**hole" in Blitz's eyes. At this point Stolas probably thinks that whole love was one sided and Blitz always thought of him as royal dirt and nothing more. Stolas is still afraid of showing weakness so he just teleported Blitz out to not let him see his breakdown fully but we can clearly see that it finally clicked for Blitz and he tried to say ,,I'm sorry". He really didn't have to lash out at Stolas like that.
I disagree. Stolas started his whole talk misleadingly, letting Blitz think he will lose his job, then immediately goes to saying that this arrangement is wrong, an arrangement that for Blitz is the only way he can be intimate with Stolas without leaving his comfort zone and deal with the feelings, which Blitz is terrified of because he thinks he will only f*ck it up anyways. Then Stolas says he has feelings for Blitz which comes out of nowhere to him, Stolas has treated him somewhat belittling for a long time which made any attempt to show his real feelings seem insincere to Blitz. And now he expects him to respond immediately without giving him time to process, walking away from the conversation after the first reaction drawing conclusions from the first reaction he gets. Of course Blitz will react out of his confusing emotions if he doesn't have time to process. Of course he feels like Stolas is playing with him with all the sh*t that happened before, with how Imps are treated in general and with how Stolas doesn't even let him process or explain and just interprets his reaction in the worst way.
I'm not saying Stolas is the bad guy and Blitz is completely innocent. They are both bad at communicating, most importantly at listening what the other person has to say and giving them room to express it. I think you are right about Stolas perspective, but he could make things more clear for both of them
@@alexelion7084 Another thing to note, stolas doesnt realize how condescending he comes off when it comes to the imps. He thinks he's being playful where blitz sees him as being arrogant and holier than thou. Despite the fact that Stolas doesnt treat imps as badly as the other blue bloods he doesn't treat them like they are his equals. Remember the episode where Octavia ran away? He was walking around with an imp in his hand holding him like he was the base of the phone. he even nearly squeezed him in half when Stella was getting on his nerve. Stolas may be a kind guy but he was also raised to believe himself better than others. Its all been mentally ingrained into him so even if he isnt trying to come off as an asshole he still gives off that better than you vibe.
I would say that this has been the most emotional scene between Blitz and Stolas so far. Stolas is deeply hurt by what Blitz said to him but I think Blitz is going to hit rock bottom in the next episode and there were definitely no winners here. Loved Brandon's and Bryce's performances and It was also awesome to see a lot of returning characters in this one plus some new unique character designs.

They both reacted reasonably, in my opinion.
I see all your arguments for Blitzø and more, but for Stolas.. he makes sense.
Every since Ozzies, Stolas was being given signs that Blitzø doesn't really care to be around him unless it's sex.
Another small detail that's a blink-and-you-miss-it was Stolas was out of his medications, His happy pills. and His song lyric after that scene flashed was "I'll fucking die alone if this goes bad" while he hides in a fridge. A line that is scarily parallel to Blitzø's mentality and fears (crying on the couch after Ozzies and Queen Bee, the latter having him say, 'im gonna end up alone... die alone').
To Stolas, Blitzø had already confirmed his fears. He did rush him, which led to Blitzø panicking and displaying a painful expression of grief.. fear, anger, hurt.
Hearing Blitzø echoing words that Stolas heard from Striker whilst nearly being killed or mutilated by that cowboy. It was the final nail on the coffin for Stolas to understand that they cannot continue together. At least in their current state.
You can also see his castle have various artworks and artifacts veiled and covered, most notably the large chandelier. Seeing it covered in the background is like Stolas shutting out the good memories. Blitzo and Stolas lying under it, laughing and cheering at the majesty of the art piece. Innocent children playing, which if Stolas could think back so far, might make him recontexualize their play date as Blitzo using him for the treasure.
It's all bitter and sad, the framing and the lighting.
Not to discount Blitzø's point of view. I could say even more about Blitzø's fears and inferiority complex.. but, I think it's quite blatantly shown. He's hurt. But, that doesn't stop him from realizing Stolas was hurt. It seemed like he was about to say "sorry" after seeing him cry, but Blitzø was warped out.
this episode was so heavy. i know they b-plot was less interesting, but still very cool and set up for later. remembering the trailer, this isn't the last time we see cherubs and dhorks...
anyways, I'm sad and dumping money on the new merch drop didn't relieve my sorrow much. I hope apology tour isn't on the 30th of June 😅
Blitz honestly was ready to say sorry. he realized how badly he fucked up when he saw those tears, its like back when they saved him from striker and blitz realized Stolas isnt an untouchable god. Those tears snapped him out of his fight or flight mode that Stolas had triggered in him by putting him on the spot, asking him to choose when even Blitz himself didnt know what he wanted. Blitz believes his self worth is defined by what service he can provide others (i blame his father for that), if stolas no longer needs him for sex then what else can he possibly give that stolas could want? Stolas never tells blitz that he loves him, he simply says he wants blitz to want him. Blitz isnt good with things that can be viewed as vague, we've seen how hard it is for his brain to brain. You have to be direct with people like blitz, you need to basically slap them in the face with the simplest answer. If Stolas had said "I am in love with you and want you to be free to choose to love me back" i think blitz would have been less likely to fall into his panic attack which resulted in him basically channeling everything his father taught him to feel about blue bloods (again fuck that guy)

The way Blitz talks to Stolas in the end makes me wonder - did he have a bad experience with another royal demon in the past?
from the sound of it i think he was channeling his father. His father hated royals, bad mouthed them to the moon and back. Despite how much he hates how his dad treated him he was still his dad and everything he learned from the man lives rent free in his head.
Ah... Paimon, Stolas's dad, bought him for a rolled up $5 and a slim fit condom... That's how little royals thought of his worth.

Glad that you realized that blitzø derseves a moment to process this, lot of blitzø hate going around and i dont get it just shows that alot of people dont understand complex relationships, stolas despite having a good speech prepared also didnt set the tone rigth by imediately demanding the book instead of telling blitzø that he wants to have a real conversation about their relationship - it is so annoying to have both these extremly well written characters (both with madsive trauma in rssponse to relationships) so wildly misunderstood
I feel like Blitz is one of those people that you have to literally spell things out to him. After Ozzie's, Stolas has been giving him more leniency with the grimoire and even gave alternatives than just fucking that even Fizz could see that Stolas cares for Blitz. Blitz just didn't/couldn't think for a moment that Stolas' feelings became real or were even buried there for a long time since they first met because I genuinely think Blitz was his first crush but growing up with Paimon as a father and being an arranged marriage left him with no room to explore his sexuality until Blitz came to get the grimoire that first time. It was clear that Stella and Stolas hadn't done anything besides missionary so when something new and exciting came into his life of course he'd want to keep it around. I also feel bad for Blitz because Blitz has clearly tied his inferiority complex and his self worth into sex and what he can provide because he grew up thinking he was worthless thanks to Cash Buckzo. They just need therapy and communication but I feel like time apart will help them come to an understanding.
I think where Stolas went wrong is he should have let blitz in on the crystal from the very beginning instead of keeping it as a surprise. Springing surprises like this on someone as emotionally stunted as Blitz is a recipe for disaster, especially when you expect him to make a split second decision to decide the fate of your relationship. Stolas didnt even tell him "I love you", he told him that he wanted blitz to want him. Blitz really is a straight forward guy who cant read between the lines very well. it was only when he saw stolas crying was when it finally hit him exactly what stolas was trying to get at. Those tears are what snapped him out of his fight or flight mode and let him think clearly about what he was about to lose, its like back when Stolas was hurt by Striker. Blitz seeing him in that moment, realizing he can get hurt, made him understand that Stolas isnt invincible, he's not an untouchable god; hes just a guy.
Also fuck both their fathers, get these poor bastards some therapy
@@gothic_ace2037 Oh 100% Stolas should have let him know about the crystal before dropping everything on him. I just feel like Stolas thought their feelings were mutual (which it's obvious they are, Blitz just doesn't like being vunerable) and when Blitz accidentally mocked those feelings it stung cuz it probably reminded him of how Stella acted mocking his attempts at a happy marriage which 1000% sucks
They are both flawed (and disturbingly young, whenever I think about it, I'm GenX; they are only 35, and I spent a VERY LONG TIME on this show thinking Stolas was some kind of thousand year old immortal!!!) young creatures. AND they are emotional boys. I really, truly hope for reconciliation, but storywise, we're going to be in the mud of it for some time, I think.
And damn, the scene went by super quick, but Stolas not having any antidepressants left? CHILLED MY SOUL. Been there with ya Stolas, if not quite as often. There was no way he was going to get through a harrowing scenario like that without his Zoloft, and he should not have tried.
Stolas and Blitz’s miscommunication issues are even worse due to the fact that they likely dont know a lot about each other and each other’s past. Stolas dont know about Blit’z trauma from the circus, Blitz’s doesn’t know about Stolas’ trauma from being in an arranged marriage with an abusive person… They dont know what they other had to go through, they dont know what the other is currently going through (does Blitz even know Stolas is going through a divorce right now ?), so they cant find a way to communicate with each other that wont hurt them.
Glad this episode finally layed out that Stolas is not innocent in this as well. This whole thing, the transactions, "meetings" each month in exchange for the book, this was his idea, his demand. And at season 1's ending (at ozzie's) when he didn't even say a word in defence of Blitzo when Fizz and Ozzie were roasting him publically, he just covered his face with a menu to avoid eye contact. Since the beggining Blitzo thought it was just a roleplay, that he was being used, and he got so used to it that he wouldn't possibly think there was something more behind it all.
However, I feel like this conversation they had at the end should've been there right after season 1 ending. Seeing it canonically happened months after feels like "oh yeah we forgot about the drama, little late but here it is", pretty weird
Not really weird, a lot of people do try to avoid things like this and let days become weeks become months.
Not to mention that he probably waited for the crystal too, which we don't know if there's a time-period to "craft" one specifically for someone. Stolas did mention that it was registered for Blitz, so it's probably not an item you can just pluck from somewhere.

@@TheGreatLordDIO I think that's the point the show never acknowledges that Blitz basically tricked and used Stolas during that date just to spy on M&M and they never acknowledge how Stolas never defended and hid away. I think it's the point, both characters royally screwed up thanks to their own faults yet neither of them have been willing to confront and talk to each other they just do the most toxic thing and ignore the problem until it blows up in their faces.

Like...if he hesitated for a second longer he could've heard that sorry, and that once the confused anger instantly dissipated he would be willing to talk, like
I just wish there was some coincidental story barrier, dramatic pause that would've allowed Blitz to finish that "I'm s--". The conversation really could've continued (I do see the 2 reminder comments about Stolas being out of antidepressants).
For a few reasons mentioned by you, me, and others: this conversation ended too soon and could've continued into a full conversation.
Like, "ohh you're fucking with me, that's some new roleplay uhh" and just, when you hold up your hand, say "It's...not roleplay." instead of deciding that his response means there's no basis for romance. That for me would be the key moment. Applying my thoughts _before_ the episode release to the situation, I guess part of me anticipated like... "Crystal. You're free, I want you to think about it and decide if you want me without it." but instead ended up with the semi-classic fanfic "I have my answer."
TL,DR; If he wasn't thrown out quickly, that conversation would likely have continued into a more positive direction, since seeing Stolas' tears (and that response) dissipated the confused anger-upset and he immediately had an apology on his lips. In a better setting (still having antidepressants and not being cold turkey -> taking his very first denial as the final answer instead of continuing that branch of conversation ("I wasn't roleplaying.") this could've ended alright on the same episode.
Despite that, I was speechless but didn't feel as shattered as expected; he threw him out of the house so the only barrier once Blitz processes and does apology tour is if Stolas' doesn't respond to future communications or blocks him (but trailer)
"Sir, why are you freaking out? The Crystal lets us do our job just fine! This is like the best possible outcome! Dont tell me you had feelings for him after all..."

Ohh and love Vivi being voice of goat cherub.❤ and can we say once again how Alex Brightman can voice so many characters . But I am starting to pick his intonation up.
God damn it blitz I had a feeling this was gonna happen by I didn’t want to believe it but nevertheless this was amazing I love this series and this channel
I feel pretty sad for blitz in all of this. Blitz has never shown much of an obsession over the book in actual episodes, the whole premise of the full moon nights was sex, we have no indication other than specific episodes that stole us met with him more than once a month, Yes, blitz doesn't believe anyone could love him, but you don't tell someone that you love them in mixed up incomplete sentences after 2 years after becoming reacquainted where 3/4 of that stolas was married to someone. A lot of the time stolas has treated blitz like a boy toy in public rather than like they were in a relationship. Stolas needs communication skills.

Having Helluva Boss back is so great! This episode was so good, and rewarching through people's reactions only makes me appreciate the story and animation even more!
I'd love if you checked out PopCross Studios's Multiverse Tales series, or his newest one Vigilants! His illustrations and storytelling are amazing and i know you'd love it!
I am really split on this episode. On the one hand it wasn't too bad, and Stolas' speech was really well done, but Blitz' outburst at the end really came from nowhere. It really just looks like petty drama to artificially break them apart.

I dont think it came from nowhere. Stolas has never made it known to Blitz that he wanted something more for their relationship, and on top of that Blitz has a lot of trauma. He hates himself so he thinks it’s impossible for someone to love him, and he always sees himself as inferior to Stolas because his own dad old him to a Goetia when he was a kid. So it’s not really surprising that he dont take Stolas seriously when he opens up about his feelings and that he lashes out after that because he feels played with. That is how he sees himself, a plaything, and the show has pointed at that throughout the older episodes.
@@aaazzz8324 I understand that yeah. I'm just really peeved by the fact that nowadays the only thing people talk about in these episodes is who is the most traumatized, and how can we out-traumatize them.
@blitz3391 I haven't personally see people talk about that, but if they are, yeah, that's kinda dumb. Trauma isn't a competition, obviously. And it isn't an excuse for shitty behaviour either. But it can explain the behaviour someone may have.

Good for you stolas - that relationship was just part of the vicious cycle. First, him being used as a pawn in his father's game and then being used as a meal ticket. Man deserves better. Don't let toxic people like blitz bring you down

I honestly thought that while the episode was messy and had some rather poor pacing, I still really liked it.
That final scene between Stolas and Blitz was gripping, and I think that if we replaced the Cherubs B plot with a Stolas B plot and waited later to introduce Cherubs and Dorks back into the series? It would have made for a much more satisfying character reintroduction whilst making this episode that much better with its setups for character arcs.
Also, I really wish this episode wrote literally ANY other joke rather than sex jokes... It made me BEYOND tired.

Finally someone I can agree with. People keep saying that this is the most emotional episode when it's far from it.
Them breaking up at the end was to be expected considering how toxic that whole relationship was.

My favorite part of this episode was seeing Loona 🐺back why I missed her and good to see her back in action she was absent in three episodes and There was no music in the end credits now that’s the first it left us wondering what will happen next😭

@@vampybampy Yes, the merch is definetly a part of it, but one would think being a professional voice actor that has worked in Disney movies, like the guy who does Paimon that was Jafar, and Fizzarolli's and Stolas' actors who are on broadway would make astronomical sums, like, sums that only a big company could afford to pay; and these guys have several of them.

About the cloaca thing, I looked into it and it's apparently something many animals (with the exception of most mammals) have including birds. So that's why Stolas has that instead of the typical human parts. One hole for everything that humans have two to three holes for.

I believe sinner demons are the ones that can only be killed by angelic weapons. Hellborn demons like, imps and hellhounds can die by others things as well as angelic weapons. Two emotionally damaged and abused creatures , one out of antidepressants who can’t accept what the other feels for them. In being who they are they both cannot believe the other might want them so in that moment they both are so far in their own self hate they fail to honestly listen to each other. Blitz turns to anger when he feels and Stolas to self pity almost and that moment keeps either from seeing the shields they place. Stolas has had self realization of what Blitz feels but doesn’t pause to honestly consider how ripping the bandages of their deal might cause Blitz to hemorrhage all that rage. But, then again Stolas had already prepared for rejection. If you pay attention to their walk all the statues and paintings are covered as you do when preparing to close a house up..
Sorry way to many yrs of counseling from my own dark relationships( one reason seeing Hazbin handle Angel and Val hits home) Plus easier looking into a relationship from the outside and seeing what one cannot from the inside. This all from two great shows I never saw coming.

Also I think Stolas and Blitz both have equally understandable reasons for how the react to this situation. But it's sadly easier for most people to dislike Blitz because he has a lot more difficulty with genuine affection and being vulnerable.

Bullshit. Stolas is just as much to blame as Blitz here. Shutting him down without giving him time to think, springing this on him without even a single hinting notion of what the night would mean, and Blitz is 1000% valid to think all Stolas ever wanted from him was sex. Not a single interaction of theirs had been non-sexual aside from their date to Ozzie's and even that was ruined for both of them with a capital on their lustfully natured relationship up until that point. And with all the trauma and shit Blitz has gone through, saying he did this to himself is victim blaming. The ONLY argument you have in your favor here is Blitz was originally only intending to steal the book in the first place, and had he not gotten caught would never have ended up in this situation, and shouldn't have done that to begin with. Which is them immediately thrown out the window and invalidated when you realize Stolas used entrapment and coercion to form the deal with Blitz. Stolas screwed Stolas and Blitz.
I speak as a person with Stolas' personality and Biltz' trauma.

@@caraslaboszewski2275 Did Stolas ever even hint to Blitz that he wasn't just after sex? Only at the end of episode 7, but Blitz didn't believe him and said as much. Stolas didn't correct him. To Blitz, this confession is out of nowhere because Blitz is not watching Stolas like the audience is, and Stolas didn't give him a single minute to even process all that information, just instantly dismissed him, like he would a butler. Blitz is entirely justified in his outburst here, even though it wasn't the best course of action for their relationship, definitely.
I get it, Stolas is a likable character, and people want to defend him, but to say Blitz is entirely at fault here is plain delusional. Stolas controlled the conversation ever since Blitz showed up and gave him no chance to process or express himself properly, so Blitz lashed out. Nothing Blitz said in his outburst was a lie, it just wasn't the best way to deal with it if you want this relationship to have a future.
@TheSupahBish Blitz has expectations based on his personal history of which I fully admit we have minimal knowledge. I will admit we are given more insight into Stolas, but there are absolutely signs for those who can be bothered to pay attention.
