Such a great interview and as a long time friend of Moroni (and I'm not Mormon in any way shape or form) I can say that he has more integrity as a human being in his pinky finger than many of the people that have rejected him or his belief system. Thank you for this interview and for giving Moroni a platform to tell his very winding, twisting story of faith. For faith is what Moroni literally lives. Love you, Ro! Looking forward to the next episodes! Have to say I laughed about our night "under the milky way" and realizing how little I knew about what you were going through at the time. I'm so grateful that we became fast friends that New Year's. You are my spiritual brother in this and in every lifetime. ✨
I agree that Mark E Peterson is an enigma when it comes to Adam-God doctrine. Since he was the main GA that dealt with the fundamentalists how could he not know that Brigham taught it? Even President Kimball, according to Elden Watson who worked with Mark E Peterson, only condemned the fundamentalist version of Adam-God and would not say Brigham did not teach it.
The basics. Jesus is the Christ. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true and we have over 600 commandments to keep. Time to go to work.
Mark E. Petersen strikes me as a bit of a crusader, and not always in the positive sense. I have a small stack of books of his that I need to get around to reading. He seems to have been obsessed with extreme moral purity and sexual sin. I wonder if he viewed polygamists as adulterers above all else?
I think it is important to remember that Mark E Peterson lived through the 3rd Manifesto and likely a close witness to apostle Richard Lyman's fall from the quorum due to polygamy. That likely made him a crusader to show his support for Pres Grant, which continued on through the 1970s.

Glad you like the line! I have a big lineup of excommunicants this month.

We're more interested in tangents here than basics. But thanks anyway.
