Tears to my eyes . She's one of the few left from the Golden age of Cinema. A celluloid queen. A muse and inspiration of resilience. Hello she is after all Dorothy Gale's daughter. LIZA ❤
Beyond well deserved. What a career she's had. Saw her live 3 times in Copenhagen, Denmark, first time when I was 12 way back in 1978. She is perfection manifested. Love, love, love her 💖
This was wonderful, thank you for sharing this moment with us. Liza looks beautiful in her director’s chair, and I imagine this is what they had envisioned for her at the unfortunate Oscars ceremony that year. Mr Feinstein was right to say her appearance was sabotaged, as she agreed to appear under certain terms which weren’t met because of the ugly situation Will Smith caused. It was satisfying to see here what should of been done for her at the Oscars. This respect is what she deserved and this is what she has earned. Well done Industry Dance Awards for celebrating an American treasure.
@@flenif2247 Agree 100%. Liza wasn't "sabotaged" at the Oscars, but rather allowed to be seen as exactly who she is: an elderly woman with mobility and cognitive issues. Feinstein's "damage control" was unnecessary and insulting to all of the people who work incredibly hard to produce the Academy Awards shows. Admittedly, they did a better job of disguising Minnelli's issues here, perhaps learning a few lessons from the Oscars appearance. But there's no shame in getting old and frail - it happens to all of us if we live long enough.
Liza Minnelli is a National treasure ❤❤❤❤❤❤ This is the way she should have appeared when presented at the Oscar awards. Lest we forget Kennedy Centers Honors 🎖 ❤❤❤❤❤
I was about 14, when I saw Liza in her Tony winning performance of Flora the Red Menace at the Colonial Theater in Boston. She was all of 16 and destined to be a star. And, a star she has been. I was privileged to see her a number of times in concert and she always delighted her audiences. A true songstress, capable of always touching hearts, she left me feeling the joy of being human and alive. Love you, Liza, and always will!
LIZA MINNELLI! YOU have been my idol for over 50 years! I always went crazy (and still do) when I hear your fabulous voice sing out! I dance; I cry! The world stops when I hear or see you perform. I still dance around my kitchen while fixing dinner when I turn on my Alexa and ask it to play, "LIZA MINNELLI!" You are truly the most talented entertainer of our era. Your glorious mom, Judy Garland, was truly the greatest of her time. My daughter, at age 3, hearing me play your music, once grabbed her jump rope and used it as a microphone and blasted out the words and danced to "Ring Them Bells." I have her on video. We laugh and cry whenever we view it. God bless you, Liza! The world is a better place because of you. I would give anything to have met you in person to give you a big hug....and a curtsy! LOVE YOU!
So beautifully written and heartfelt; I have no doubt that if Liza had the opportunity to read your message, she’d want to thank you for sharing your admiration for her with the world 💞..thank you from a fellow fan of “Liza with a Z” 😉 for posting this inspiring note to her 🤩
I think she has Parkinson's not sure. But she's probably doing a lot of physical therapy. That was a short acceptance speech. I'm sure she gets exhausted easily. But she still looks good.
Cabaret knocked me off my Feet, when I first saw it and is still one of my most beloved Films of all Times. Liza deserves all zje Admiration we can give for her fantastic Work and Lifetime. Best Wishes.
Is it just me, or is Liza sharper and more animated here than she was 2 1/2 years ago presenting with Gaga at the Oscars? 💖 Must be that director's chair and dynamic dance energy! 👏👏
Liza is 78 - seven years older than I. She has been a favorite of mine for decades, as was her mother. Legends never die, they just keep on rolling along.
Saw her live outside in a Coney Island, Brooklyn summer show! Just Wonderful! Also met her for a DVD signing of her CBS Liza With a Z re-release and JUST so personable after hundreds waited in line! Congratulations to Liza!!!
Nice to see Liza very nicely put together considering that it’s a challenge for her walking these days after years of dancing and singing it’s good to know she’s still as active as possible
My first introduction to this mega pack of talent on top of talent was CABARET! The original movie. When it first appeared on a big, wide screen. How lucky could I get!
What a great star... She is probably and unfortunately unable to walk and to dance anymore. But she is one of the best performer for many years... I remember have seen her in France at the Opéra Garnier for an unique concert... In french, we use to say: elle a mis le feu. It was the fire! EXCEPTIONNEL. Thanks Liza...
She didn't set out to be a singer or an actress. Her ambition was to be a dancer on Broadway. "My mother gave me my talent; my father gave me my dreams"--Liza Minnelli.
Congratulations Liza. You are a legion. Im an Aussie and I saw you live in Adelaide a few years ago, as well as with frank and Sammy in Melbourne. You look fabulous. 🦘🌷
Congratulations! Seeing this entrance reminds me of the disappointing way the Academy and Lady Gaga treated her appearance as if she was not able to command the room, by using that wheelchair, instead of just having her appear?! So talented👏👏👏👏👏
She certainly and absolutely deserves this award. Her mother also deserved so very much more but was cheated and robbed from the academy for Oscars and more. Consequently , Judy Garland would not have ended up the way she did if only she had been loved, appreciated, understood and respected by Hollywood and the academy. She always did her very best and gave everything she had.
Dearest Liza Minnelli, In 1991 you were on stage with the most talented women in dance with "Stepping Out" in Hamburg in Germany. I sat and later stood in the front row and will never forget this experience. Back then, I experienced what was probably the greatest entertainer of her time, who sang, danced and gave her all for her audience for over two hours. In a wonderful short red palette skirt and jacket with wonderful white patent leather shoes. Her sweat flew over the front rows as if a typhoon had broken out in the middle of the stage. Her heart was open and her voice reached every corner of the room. 15 minutes standing ovation from around 10.000 people. What a woman! I asked Bill LaVorgna for her autograph back then. He was such a friendly and approachable man. After the concert, he gave me her autograph card with a personal dedication. After giving it all she found the time to take care of a fan. What a human beeing! It still hangs in my office today. Thank you Ms. Minnelli, thank you! PS: A dignified presentation! The organizers of the Oscars could learn a lot from this...
She didn't break anything; she just can't walk anymore. I attended a wonderful Peggy Lee concert in 1993. She was in a wheelchair, and had been for a while, but told the audience she had just been in a vehicular accident so we wouldn't pity her, and would think she'd recover.
Aspiring dancers should perhaps take a moment to contemplate the fact that the Dance Industry is giving this award - however richly deserved - to a woman whose dancing has led to multiple hip replacements, a lifetime of pain, dependence on painkillers and the inability to walk unassisted to collect the award. This is the fate of many, if not most professional dancers. If we treated animals this way there would be lobby groups campaigning against such cruel practices.
You must also remember that medicine has come a long way since she had those surgeries. If it was today, she would probably not be given those painkillers, have a must better hip replacement, etc. etc.
If you didn't know, there is a risk correlation between alcoholism and the need for hip replacement. You can look it up. Hip and other issues arise in some professional dancers, but no, not most.
It’s good to see her again. But so unfortunate to see her not being able to walk on her own because of her health issues and other issues caused by herself.
I mean… people get old. This is what happens. She’s also been a dancer for most of her life, and the body eventually can’t take much more. I think she has earned the right to be pushed around by a gaggle of pretty chorus boys and just sit there.
I’m delighted that Liza is having this time in life!
She is, and has always been: Truelly terrific!

I could not agree more with your words. Perfect tribute in the perfect way. We love Liza and she deserves both: award and respect.
True it's a nicer tribute but there is nothing wrong with being in or seen in a wheelchair either. She needs to own that. She could help alot of folks

AMPAS/Oscars take notice. This how you should have allowed Liza to be honored at the 2022 awards. Forcing her into a wheelchair was demeaning.
