I wish there were more American companies like GEC going around. GEC can’t produce enough for the demand which is totally understandable. But they are so beautiful that I wish there were a few more people in the game
I agree, i tried soany times to get there knives the day they dropped and never got one because they would sell out in secounds and a half hour later people on ebay would have several of them for sale for double the money so i quit trying. I refuse to pay the crazy markup.
They can absolutely make enough. They choose not to because they benefit from the scarcity. Manufactured scarcity is a thing in all industries. They make far too few so that they stay in demand and are 100% guaranteed to sell all of their stock. They never sit on stock because it is guaranteed to sell immediately. Few companies can say that. They do it on purpose and they are a scumbag company for it
Sharp collection. Yes I watched all the way to the end. 😊 I grew up in Texas carrying an “Eye Brand“ Carl Schlieper sodbuster jr and a Swiss Army knife in my pockets. Added in a Case and Kershaw and Schrade and Spyderco here and there over the years. Never really collected per se, just used them as tools. Always loved traditional knives after learning to use them and sharpen them properly as a kid by my dad and others. Hard to believe I only discovered GEC last year. We’re in a golden age now with more modern makers inspired and driven by GEC Quality.
Awesome video! Please keep the traditional knife videos coming. More folks need to slip a traditional knife in the pocket & fall in love with them as we have!
Of the entire collection, I prefer the GEC -CAR 431118 - with a clip-on cover, from minute 6:40 of the video - for use in the kitchen in camp, and my Original Puma Bowie 6376 for forest and hunting tasks. Those two run the gamut of needs. Very nice collection, congratulations.
Seeing your slipjoints over the years is what got me into slipjoints. I've since started my collections, and now I have a few TC's and Northwoods. Love the video!
Yeah I'm a big fan of the old slip joints. At 55 I think it has a whole lot to do with age. I can remember when there were very few locking knives at all. Really for a long time the was only the buck 110 and the case mako and the mako was so expensive none of us young guys could afford it in our teens but we all wanted one
Sharp, LaRock made not far from my home. Love your collection, just started my collection by accident 8 yrs. ago. Mostly Buck knives, case, Old Timer (USA). I Catch myself always looking now, thats how I came to your video. I also have a couple decent Chinese knives, that belonged to a past loved one. I've lost a least five buck hunting knives in 5yrs., I'm still looking for them. Swiss is a traditional to me. You have a few to many I would love to have, I'm on a hunt now.
I enjoy the old/traditional pocket knives more than the modern bulky ones. Warm/worn patinas is one reason. The other is economy of design. They are smooth to the touch, and are robust enough to make sure everything is solidly held together for its use as a tool. Thanks for sharing.
Killer collection man, love the variety. I'm fairly similar in that I have a ton of variety and I also didn't set out to "build a collection"... I think for me I was looking for "the perfect" knife and then eventually came to the realization that there isn't ONE "perfect" knife to cover all things but instead there is a perfect knife for each of many different uses/scenarios/purposes. So I ended up finding my perfect whittling knife (and then my perfect compact whittling knife) and I found my perfect around-town people-friendly carry knife and I found my perfect hiking knife and then my perfect yard work knife and then my perfect emergency food-prep knife etc. etc. etc. Then I realize I have like 60 GECs, 20 Case knives and about 30 vintage pieces. I'm whittling a lot of those down slowly as I really focus on in my "perfect this" and "perfect that" knives though. But that is what I love about knives, you can find one that specializes in just about in particular knife need.
I heard the other day that you were back making videos. I was a sub years ago. Good to hear from you again, I always enjoyed your work. So I counted 26 sharp knives and a few more that did not count, in a beautiful collection. I remember being impressed that you used most of them too. Thank you for showing your traditionals which are the only folding knives that I am interested. I'll start catching upon your videos.
Great collection Randy. I got in to it just before things got crazy. My Northwoods Freemont Jack is my favorite slip joint and I would carry it every day if I thought I could get another one. So its a safe queen now , which is kinda sad.
Nice collection. I have a small switchblade collection. The reason I don’t have any slip joint knives is because I closed a blade on my knuckle when I was a young child. I was halfway between my house and my grandfather’s house and I could not make up my mind which house to run to for first aid.😊
The size of your collection is the sharp end of the spear! Remember, it's quality, not quantity and you certainly have a quality collectio. I really enjoyed the review and look forward to future videos. Keep it up.
I used to stick my knife blade in a potato for a couple of day to get that old looking patina look it works to I can’t stand a knife with a shiny blade just my preference nice collection you have
Ive seen alot of collection videos and none make me as jealous as yours does. I got my first GEC because of you long time ago. Ive got 3 and just recently started to try and get more but it seems impossible now. I refuse to do the secondary market. Glad I got the 3 I got to say the least. I appreciate them even more now than when I bought them Edit: Sharp
Sharp!! Awesome collection. I'd say my fave is the very first one. The TC15 in sawcut. The 72 is phenomenal too, and the 47 viper is always a great one 👍
You are one of the guys who got me into GEC's ( back when you first got into them ) I love how SHARP they are!. You should definitely finish up that broken down slippie!
Beautiful collection of art! I was wondering how much side to side play they develop over time (the pinned ones I mean)? That is why I typically buy modern traditionals. I can always tighten the pivot(s).
My pocket knife is a traditional Stockman's, Buck model. Yeah you can tell it is a carried pocket knife. I read a Survival book in which chapter 1 was titled, There is no such thing as too many knives. The photo showed the guy with knives laying around everywhere. I like certain knives for their durability factor. But some are just so pretty that they can't be ignored. It is nice to see a guy that keeps parts for knives, purchases tools specifically for knives, knives that are tools. I am a Vendor at Swapmeets on occasion so I look through all of the junk and find something worth fixing up. And Yes, There Is No Such Thing As Too Many Knives.
Sharp, your collection is solid. Delrin, in my experience is durable, I've got an Old Timer (very old) that has taken what ever came its way. Sawcut is not what it used to be, other than that it good to go. Thanks,
Do you collect all kind of vintage pocket knives . If so I may have a few an fixed blades there all old unused condition. I have several brands. All are USA. Thanks
The first yellow Case is a Slim-line trapper, or farmers trapper. It is made of Del-rin not Der-lin, a thermoplastic developed by DuPont. Made by other companies by other names. Schrade calls their Uncle Henry style Staglon, the Old-Timer sawcut Delrin. They may call the one Northwoods a Madison Barlow, but it sure looks trapperish to me. A beauty by any name.
What #of GEC is the 5th knife u showed. Lockback with jigged bone and spearpoint blade?? Didn't here you say in the video.....great collection and awesome of you to share em!! Thx, HT 🙏👊👍💯🔪🔥
Probably one of the best traditional collections on UA-cam loved watching these videos over the years
I wish there were more American companies like GEC going around. GEC can’t produce enough for the demand which is totally understandable. But they are so beautiful that I wish there were a few more people in the game
I have a number GECs for sale if your interested.
Try Buck. I have over 100 of them.
I agree, i tried soany times to get there knives the day they dropped and never got one because they would sell out in secounds and a half hour later people on ebay would have several of them for sale for double the money so i quit trying. I refuse to pay the crazy markup.

Roughrider knives are literally the same

Sharp collection! All knives look great, the first one is my favorite 😊

Your collection looking SHARP man. Keep the videos coming. We really enjoy them.

Great looking collection of knives. I love those case knives
I absolutely love traditional knives. Thanks for sharing this.
Very beautiful knives. Great collection

What a relaxing video to watch!
Thanks! Sweet collection my fiend just getting into traditional knifes and I learned a lot from this video
Sharp! Your old videos are still in my reference for when I am looking to expand my collection. Thanks

Definitely made it to the end. Sharp. Nice collection! Love the patina. Have a good one.

Very sharp presentation. My only traditional knives are Victorinox. Love your collection. I'm inspired!
Those leather lanyards add some class as well.. beautiful collection
Impressive collection Randy thanks for showing them
I see that you spare no expense for your hobby. Well done!
Sharp video - loved it and admire your beautiful collection!
Great collection Randy. I got in to it just before things got crazy. My Northwoods Freemont Jack is my favorite slip joint and I would carry it every day if I thought I could get another one. So its a safe queen now , which is kinda sad.
I like the old school knives best. It's nice to see that you use and enjoy all your knives.
Those jack wolf 🐺 knives are absolutely perfect...wow!!!.....also I really liked the gec sod buster style knife...thanks for sharing
This is a Randy Johnston type of video I have missed.thank you for taking the time.atb paddy ☘️👍

Sharp, thanks for showing us your collection
Sharp! You do have a great collection of quality knives. I love the Wharncliff blades.
The Jack Wolf knives have me tempted to get one. Very classy.
I used to stick my knife blade in a potato for a couple of day to get that old looking patina look it works to I can’t stand a knife with a shiny blade just my preference nice collection you have
Wish there were more videos like this .
BTW the Ulster is a great knife . They made a lot of the camp knives and Boy Scout knives .
Love your knives. (I too love all things which slice and poke.) your presentation style is grand! Thank. I subscribed to your channel.

Edit: Sharp
A beautiful slip joint collection!
Sharp. Great video. 😎👍
Sharp looking collection you have there👌Especially liking that custom at 29:55😍
I would love to see Case step up too I really enjoy them as well. I think they would do well to maybe shrink the selection and focus more on quality.
I've used a lot of bandaids too - "bitten" You collectection is amazing!
I’ve been waiting on this SHARP video. Love it. You’ve got a sweet collection.
Really sharp collection of knives thanks for the video take care.

And Yes, There Is No Such Thing As Too Many Knives.
Sharp! I’m the same way, I can’t sell or trade my knives. Even if I haven’t used it years, I might still rediscover it again in the future.
great sharp collection , every one a keeper ,
Your collection is lookin... SHARP!
Very nice. Thank you for sharing!
Finally an update. Lol I tried to help fill the gap left without your traditional knife videos
Sharp, your collection is solid. Delrin, in my experience is durable, I've got an Old Timer (very old) that has taken what ever came its way. Sawcut is not what it used to be, other than that it good to go.
Thanks,
Sharp collection some very nice knives. Some of use watch to the end of all videos. Darren

Love that hamone!
And…sharp!
#Sharp you have an amazing collection of traditional pocket knives. While I own some modern style knives, I prefer traditional knives.
What a SHARP collection, very nice👍
Newbi Steve
Sharp nice bunch. Of blades
My friend !!! Way back in the day , the factory & the knife carrying public called the creamy yellow handles " MAZE " , as in corn colored !!!
Watched all of it! You gotta do some resto videos. That’d be SHARP 🤘🏼
Sharp!! Jealous of that collection
Great video and collection.
Very #sharp
Very nice collection ! 👌🏻
Sharp. Always wanted that Madison Barlow
I was shopping for knives when I was younger, I still remember when the seller said, "You bleed it, You buy it! Be careful.
Awesome Collection buddy
That Unxld lockback is awesome! Man I'd love to have one of them
I have a few Hay N Helpers. I have the glow one and some of the orange delrin ones.
Do you collect all kind of vintage pocket knives . If so I may have a few an fixed blades there all old unused condition. I have several brands. All are USA. Thanks

My favorite pattern is a Lanny’s Clip but that Madison Barlow is a very close second.
Sharp. Great video
I do like this collection
Man… that TC Barlow from the beginning. After that I had to watch
Yes! Been waiting for this update!
Where did you get that large Barlow with the single large clip blade? I like Barlow knives but I need a larger one😊
That Tidioute Viper is so nice.
Sharp video, if I had a collection, it would look like this…
Wow, the presentation itself is as "sharp" as the contents of the collection.
Sharp. Interesting. Thanks.
Have any knife slips that go inside the pocket that u can recommend?
Fremont jack is very
nice I will admit !
Nice collection
What #of GEC is the 5th knife u showed. Lockback with jigged bone and spearpoint blade?? Didn't here you say in the video.....great collection and awesome of you to share em!! Thx, HT 🙏👊👍💯🔪🔥
