I love this kit. Using mine as live kit for small clubs. It works so well, sounds great and is so easy to transport. I also use the Tama classic hardware which is extra light and so all together it is super easy to transport and I only have to walk twice to transport everything from the car to the stage :-)
The kit works grate! With some ec2's on top and the toms tuned all the way down they "lie" pretty good and sound bigger then they are. Not a fan of the combo floortom so i removed the strainer. The floortom also comes with a snareside resonant head due to the snares. I don't use the snare that comes with, but will work in a pinch. I would like seeing a bag.. maybe backpack style for kick and toms..
Very great review, thanks a lot ! The exemples of tuning are very great : jazzy is great, rock is ok and the last one with the 2 snare drum play is very funny and make this kit desirable ! Keep drumming 🥁🥁
@@ArtOfDrumming You guys just continue on with what your doing. Make more "noise" with new content and eventually, Tama will correspond with you first. Great video!
I have a 90s stage custom kit (22, 8, 10, 12, 14) that I am considering selling and replacing with this kit, but I am on the fence. My main kit is a recording custom (22, 10, 12, 14, 16). Thoughts?
I own this kit and it's just the best for anyone digging the bebop sound however I will have to say that the floor tom is endlessly infuriating to me. I have been tuning that little bastard for over 3 hours, tried 3 different drumhead combination and I still can not find a way to make it sound good in both settings. Either it sounds like a good Tom or a punchy snare but never both. So don't go into this thinking you can switch to the snare sound mid playing like I did. Plus the clutch on the Tom rattles when it's down. I'm considering just removing it.
Depends on what you want to do. This kit is pretty special and not very versatile. If you want a smaller kit that's still versatile I'd rather go with the Stage Custom Bop Kit for example. This one here is a great kit for sure but if you're getting your first kit I would go for something with more regular sizes and regular sounds. But still it depends on what music you want to make and what sounds you're looking for. Hope that helped.
I do love the video format. Keep this kind of reviews on you channel. However, the drum kit itself still a bit too unique sounding. It seems like they're not light weight replacement but an extension of colours as you've mentioned. IMO, Sonor AQX Jungle, on last video, has more potential to be a large kit replacement. Keep up a good work. Really looking forward for more drums/cymbals/gears reviews in the future.
Thank you for the video, most reassuring. This version fits my budget, creativity and taste. However , I noticed a hinged device attached to the back of the drum throne, can you me the type and model of this throne ?
One of main reasons for purchasing this model is the first tom natural sound, and the floor tom. Question can the floor tom be mounted and what rack mount can you recommend ?
Sounds great but how practical is the second snare? I feel like I'm watching a Thomas Lang video with that thing... Curious if anyone has come up with a practical idea for a gigging drummer.
I love small kits I own a Quest love But why do they cost so frickin much I have a bunch of spare parts I decided to build my own micro drumset It's coming along pretty well too
Yeah, I'd push those tiny toms as low as they'd go with some tone. I feel like Yamaha should have gone 14" on the floor tom/snare though, especially since it's harder to tune as low with a snare side head on the bottom of a drum
The inability to get a usable “good” tom sound due to the novelty sizes is the only reason I don’t own this kit. A 14x12 on the snom and 10x7 rack would make this sooo much more useful.
@@christopherjobe2260 I completely agree with you. I heard this kit and played this kit and was not impressed at all by the floor Tom. The rack Tom was decent but a deeper 7” shell would have done it more justice. Bass drum is a bit to thin sounding for my taste as well.
does anyone have experience with this kit live? im not sure about the bass drum specifically....what styles did u play with the kick? I wanna play bass heavy music and am not sure if this will suffice
AppalLing audio production on this. Get a decent room and the record the drums without any eq, comp or any other plug in....These drums sound way better than what you hear on this clip
It actually sounds awesome for a set of this size - I'm genuinely impressed.
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL THE PRODUCTION QUALITY IS SO GOOD!!!
😊 thanks!
Best demo of this kit!! Y’all killed it!! 🤘🏻🥁🤘🏻😎
Thanks so much!

Cool combo!
@@ArtOfDrumming Yes, cool combo. It fits better that the Yamaha aluminium hardware. But your tuning in the video is very much better than mine ;-)
Love the classic hardware...use mine with an AQ2 Safari
With the kit how are u packing it and what cases are using?
Hi, thanks for this opinion con you tell me what type of tama's hardware you use
Great video! I love the low tuning sound of this kit.
sounds crazy good!! love how it sounds with the low tuning
💯
I love this kit. I love that floor tom/snare idea
You know this and tama’s club jam series are awesome drum sets

This was a great demo! Been interested in this kit for a while, but don’t think I can justify having four drum sets.. 🤦🏻♂️ looks like so much fun🌴
Why just don't sell one of your drum kit that take so much more place ? 😛
You cannot say that until you have 5 sets. It's a rule.
So great drums
Woooow those are nice drums. They sound so good
This is making me consider buying an 8” deep snare
"here is some jazzy playing on this kit"
Great kit 🤘
They sound REALLY GOOD. 👍
Why did you just provide Tunebot frequencies for the snare? Would be helpful to know the freqs you use for the toms and kick for medium low tuning
Thanks for this wonderful video my friend!! 😊🥁🇵🇭
Cool drum kit👍
Thanks 🙏 totally agree
I've always wanted to mount my "RECTUM" on the bass drum.
I have a 1996 Sonor Jungle kit with the rare folding cymbal boom.
Great review
Please do a "Tama Club Jam Vintage" review! I think it's an awsome kit and would love to see how you tune it to sound the best!
Would love to but anyhow Tama doesn’t correspond to us.
@@ArtOfDrumming You guys just continue on with what your doing. Make more "noise" with new content and eventually, Tama will correspond with you first. Great video!
love
Love it great tone
Not really feeling the snom but I love the size for the kick
My drum 🖤 same color too
Really well made video!
Thanks a lot 👍🏻
I’m also interested in the tuning frequencies
that sounds great ;0)

Great ! Is the Tune bot hz for the Top Head ?
And if so , did you know what hz the Reso Head was ?
Thanks for the content ❤️

Terrific
I bought one of these kits. I’m curious about what head choices to install.
how is the volume compared to a standard kit? and could you use a 5.5x14 snare or will get too loud compared to the rest of the kit?
Would you recommend this for a first-time buyer of a drum kit?

Thanks! Next up are product news from zildjian and vic firth. Release date Oct. 1st 🥇
Idk it doesn’t sound like a little bit of eq … sounds like a lot hi end shelving
Awesome sound! Do you recall how the bottom snare head was tuned by chance? Cheers
Te amo mi perrito sabanero
When you hit the crash in the intro slow mo video, why does it wobble so much? Is that editing?
Thanks for mentioning this. It‘s because we filmed it with a high speed camera. Actually every cymbal looks like that in slow motion.
@@ArtOfDrumming I got wiggly cymbals? That’s awesome
😉

what's the hz for the snare side head?

👏👏👏👏👏
Sounds great but how practical is the second snare? I feel like I'm watching a Thomas Lang video with that thing... Curious if anyone has come up with a practical idea for a gigging drummer.
What do they call the muffling device on the second snare, the merkin?
Its called Mr. Muff Minimuff
@@ArtOfDrumming Even better!
I love small kits
I own a Quest love

It's coming along pretty well too
Slap soime Evans G2's on them and boom.. the cats meow.. love my Kit
Is it just me or does the audio sound really compressed? I'm not entirely sure if that's the right term, but it feels very "high-heavy".
bass drum really surprised me
Why do you need the Tom/snare
Only a bit of eq-ing ?Tthat's a big processing
Great drummer and great video of course!
But I personally prefer the classic version which is The Yamaha Stage Custom Bop kit 18/12/14
Dare I say, most working drummers would dial in a much lower tuning on this kit.

Just wish the sizes were 20, 12, 14.
Sounds great mic'd up but honestly I'm really not a fan of the snares on the floor tom.
Do Roger Taylor!

Everything sounds like a snare drum.
Cool but lots of buzzing or so or seems to me
Love the video, very informative and concise but this guy sounds like he’s reading off a teleprompter that’s not scrolling fast enough
"going to play a jazzy feel"
-Plays latin feel instead
Second snare seems gimmicky
Too much extra snare buzz
Tom sounds out of place too
Tighten that snare, for God's sake!
Russian Accent??
