    I used the general gist of your video to take the glass insert from one door and install it in my door. Took me about an hour including removing the old door from the hinges, removing all of the hardware, measuring, cutting and re-install of the glass, hardware and putting it back on it's hinges.
    Awesome vid, thanks for the ideas!!

    My front doors don't have any windows. I thought of searching for videos to see if I could do it myself, and I'm glad I found this video. A question though, can I cut old 70's doors with the equipment you used? I think these are plain old-style wood doors.

    Thanks for the excellent video. Question: do you know where I can purchase the plastic frame that hold the glass insert? The frame of my glass exterior door cracked. The door is facing south so it gets lots of sunlight that caused the cracks over the years. There is a special term for the frame which I don't remember. The frame has screws on both sides / top and bottom.

    Hey nice work! I'm very inspired by this video and will be tackling this myself too. What are the cons of cutting and installing the full glass while the door is still in the frame vs cutting it while laid flat?

    • @bonsummers2657
      @bonsummers2657 2 роки тому +1

      My thoughts exactly. More screwing into the holes weaken the hole-screw integrity,…. but, probably not too bad.

    • @donaldso718
      @donaldso718 2 роки тому +1

      @@bonsummers2657 hey funny you just replied because I LITERALLY just did this project yesterday! And I'll tell you, removing the door and doing it this way with the glass laid down is the best way!! Especially because the frame isn't actually attached to the glass on either side. I thought at least one side was attached, so resting the glass flat on the frame is really the only way to safely and accurately screw in the glass to the door.

    Great tutorial there. I have a few questions for you. Hope you can answer them for me.
    So, I have a fiberglass door and two sidelites on either side of it. I am changing them all from the current half round (at the top) style to the squared style, so I need to do a little cutting to modify the new glass. I just purchased two new sidelites and a larger glass for the door (has 2 glass pieces the same size as the sidelites currently). I can't take the sidelites out and will need to cut them stationary. The door I can take off and cut them as you did in this video.
    Before I start to slice and dice my sidelites, I am trying to find the best game plan to do the small cuts required to square off the top corners of the new glass for the two sidelites. I don't think my jigsaw has a small enough footprint to complete the cuts.
    I am crossing my fingers and hoping that I can use my oscillating tool to do these cuts.
    Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!
