  • We put a 72" finish mower that requires a 30 HP tractor on a 23.9 HP John Deere 1025R and see how it does. It works great in our opinion. This is going on the 3rd year for using this set up and so far, we haven't found any reason not to use it this way. YMMV and let us know in the comments if we are missing something. Have a great day and be safe.

I am not a Deere fan. Even less so with them moving to Mexico. That said that is a nice machine and perfectly suited for that application. Great video!

@@troyfortune4124 thanks for watching and your comment. I agree, hate to see any company move jobs out of US especially an iconic one like Deere. We are very happy with that machine set up to mow on our hilly ground though. Have a great day and be safe!

Been running a GM1072r on the back of a 1025r and now 2025r for the last 2 years. Best mower/ implement I own. On the 1025r I should have had the tires filled and added wheel weights but it still worked great together. The 2025r only has fluid in the rear tires. Still a great combo

Ive ran a 72 inch finish mower on my 2610 koiti that was 26 PTO HP and I could mow in high range 1 gear finish mowers don't need as much PTO power as the people who make them say they need

I'd be mowing that with my Ferris 72-inch zero turn at 15 mph. Make quick work of that.

@CopperBarnHomestead It better be for what I paid for it. I could buy several used tractors and mower decks for what I paid for that thing. I keep about 10 acres finish cut with it. The rest I have a farm hand brush hog. We have 155 acres. Where I live in Texas, they consider it a "hobby ranch." Plenty of work to maintain for sure.

Hi. Need to get a finishing mower!
Sorry for going off topic, but I need help!
I am having a rear hydraulic issue with my 1023e. It only lifts 3-4" then suddenly stops with a hard stop. Lowering is fine. May be like 5% of the time it will lift to full height. Front loader works fine. I added a gallon of low vis hydraulic oil yesterday. No difference. I have search UA-cam and some forums with NO luck. Thnx
    Thanks for the help
    Cheers
    David

@@davidmosscrop2374 thanks for watching and your comment. I am sorry you are having issues with your tractor. I don’t have much to offer but have you looked at all the linkages and pins and such to be sure nothing is out of place or binding. Also are the connections to the lift lever good? You already checked the oil and a hard stop seems like maybe a mechanical reason instead of a hydraulic one…. Maybe ? Best luck getting it sorted out and let us know what you find out. Have a great day and be safe!

I’m curious about the vibration of the PTO shaft? Is that normal?

@@hickory40cattlecompany96 thanks for watching and your comment. Yes, completely normal. It looks worse than it is because the protective cover is not complete. It actually runs pretty smoothly. Have a great day and be safe!
